  1. Aside from the usual 'nice one Mark, they're shite' chat...this would only be worthwhile if he replaces them adequately. Frankly, on our budget, with the way the transfer market is right now, offloading four players and signing four new ones in the space of a month seems nigh on impossible. While the story is probably mince, I'll imagine any such 'cull' would be left to at least the summer.
  2. To be fair, how many brilliant Faroese players can there be out there?
  3. We're clearly stronger without him though
  4. European superpowers tonight: Spain France Germany England and... Dundee About 5/1 for the acca altogether.
  5. Eoin Jess FTW ...didn't make me any better at cuppy though.
  6. That's perhaps a wee bit harsh, got very little game time under Roy Keane plus bad luck with injuries and still put in decent shifts at Plymouth and Burnley, in particular helping the latter get promoted. I still believe that, given a run of games, he could have made it in the Premier at his peak, although that might be a little red-tinted of me.
  7. I dont think there's any doubt he could still do a job for us, however you've got to leave sentimentality aside when dealing with such an issue. That's why I wouldn't be in favour of 'pulling out all the stops', he would be an investment, nothing else. As much as I worshipped him when he was here and thought he'd go on to wow the EPL with his Beckenbaur-like awesomeness, there's no point in breaking the wage structure for him.
  8. Just on a side note, had a couple of quid on 4-1 @ 40/1 I love being a smug bastard
  9. Would tend to agree with you generally, but I'd suggest there's more to it than Rangers and Celtic just making themselves heard more. Without wishing to sound paranoid, there's little doubt that had a Diamond or Maguire (trying to think of Old Firm antagonists here) performed an elbow similar to McCulloch's, it'd have played a more prominent part on the back of the Sun/Ranger/Star etc. in order to sell as many copies as possible. It seems these days that the SFA only act when a media stooshie is kicked up anyway, perhaps due to Gordon Smith's constant need for attention.
  10. Can we all agree that no-one 'wants Mcghee to fail'? Just because I and every other Dons fan (I hope) want him to succeed doesn't make him immune from criticism. It's pathetic to say otherwise.
  11. They're yet to combat the awesome defensive power of Wattenacio though.
  12. Perhaps it was also blinkered to remove the more recent 'incidents'...Where was the mention of Lee McCulloch running 70 yards to kung-fu kick Severin, somehow defended by his manager? Nacho Novo attempting to break Duff's leg as we cruise past them at home once again? Not difficult to dislike that odious team is it? Really taking the piss there, if only we all behaved more like Rangers players perhaps the world would be a more wonderful place. It is genuinely incredible how the national media can skew anything in favour of the Old Firm.
  13. Aye, just going by paulinho's team I'd stick Maguire and Paton up front. Hopefully its as obvious to McGhee as it is to us that Pawlett's done more in a handful of sub appearances than Miller has in hours of ambling about up top.
  14. I'd rather drop Miller and start Pawlett, this may be wishful thinking however...
  15. Maybe now he's been convicted we'll see a more 'Duncan Ferguson' side to his game
  16. That's a fair shout, and by the same token I get the feeling McGhee would quite happily bin the lot of them were he able to get replacements of a similar standard.
  17. All well and good mate, but a couple of pastings (entirely possible at Ibrox) and the youngsters are essentially back to square one. I agree that certain players should be dropped, but at the same time it would be counter-productive to field a completely inexperienced side at a time when pressure on the team has been turned up to a maximum.
  18. I don't think anyone realistically thinks that the players are shite. Technically, the vast majority should be comfortable in the SPL. But there's been a weak, spineless feeling about the squad for a few years now. Whether that's down to lack of characters, or successive managerial failures to build a good team spirit, I don't know. You could point the finger at either the current or previous manager for recruitment of players (not getting any 'characters' in the squad) but the players must shoulder some blame too. I remember looking around the team after Celtic got their first and not one was looking fired up, nor was anyone making any effort to gee their teammates into action, most notably Captain Kerr.
  19. Derek Young's best game in his second spell was in a centre midfield berth. Sorry I can't even convince myself he's worth playing!
  20. Neither can any of our other strikers, seemingly. I never thought I'd say this given my expectations and opinions on both players, but I genuinely believe Mackie's been better than Miller this season. Two different shades of shite admittedly, but how does that make Mackie more of a target?
  21. Are you seriously trying to tell me this wasn't deliberate? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=trN9qqVv9qk The small-minded agendas people have here...
  22. Fair point, he often looks mince, but each and every one of our players has crippling flaws. Thats why they play for us. At the end of the day, Mackie will run about, he will get in the oppo's faces and he will score goals. Until we find someone more prolific who's first touch is likely to stay within five yards of his instep, we might as well support him.
  23. Most regurgitated AFC story? Or is it perhaps "Striker X targets Ibrox victory"? Some people wouldn't like Darren Mackie if he scored 20 a season, won us the title and single-handedly solved the global credit crisis. Just do your speaking on the pitch, rather than rising to any abuse.
  24. Just watched this on 4OD Good to see it hasn't stopped getting any darker, "Don't look at the baby, it's too big. It's like the sun"
