  1. And jealousy and envy are destructive forces, to be banished rather than harboured. The admitting to it is a national sickness e.g. I hate him/her (because he/she is good looking, nice, wealthy etc.) that even TV presenters come out with.
  2. Aye, cabins where your neighbours and you can hear each other having sex, beasties which can kill you and a sun in the sky that is too hot and gives you cancer. I loved the experience of three years in Australia but I detest the place. Only reason we left the "idyllic" country was that I couldn't tolerate having Australians for children (two were born there).
  3. Wow. Thanks for sharing. If you don't mind - and I would fully understand if you didn't want to elaborate further so you are under no obligation to respond - I'm interested in the "morality question". I thought the sexes were meant to be equal these days so him being reminded that there were women around, I can hardly imagine what offence he was committing? Was he swearing, and you felt he should not be? Or was he just being a dick, irrespective of who was in the immediate vicinity? I'm unclear of what constitutes a "gentleman" either so I'm pretty certain it will be my ignorance here which limits my imagination of what he was doing wrong. The other matter of intrigue is whether his apology was given with grace and with dawning self-realisation that he really was due to say sorry to your wife and mum (for whatever the offensive words and/or behaviour might have been) or whether he was under duress, perhaps because you had told him to apologise? Incredible situation for your dad. He might have been as fortunate in his Skye experience as the Canadian was unfortunate in his. I know it's a small town but how you knew he was unable to perform the next day also begs the simple question of how you learned this? Perhaps you were also in the piping contest? Sorry for asking loon, but your account certainly raised a bunch of further questions, or at least it did for me.
  4. Al, Do you know Drasti, just north of you? That was a spectacular vista and well worth a visit. Stunning.
  5. Only briefly when touring about in the hired car. One of our fav stops. The whole coast from Paleokastro to just south west of Sidari was the best part of the island for us, Agios Stefanos being beautiful ??
  6. In the vicinity of Esperii, Agios Stefanos beach?
  7. Yes there is. You need help with that? You need your fucking arse wiped too? Poor Baiter Mastur Bater won't be baiting no more.
  8. Florida is really shite. At least the north of it around Orlando etc. Will only return to the US for majors now, never holidays despite it being a rather large place and me not having visited 90% of the states. Loved Arizona though but won't return.
  9. Where you going in Greece Al? We hadn't been for 30+ years but went to Corfu a couple of years ago, the NW corner. A bit run down there compared to my impressions of the island 40 years ago but I like Greece and promised myself we would go back. Hired a car and did the top half of the island, Paleokastritsa (or summat like that) being stunning. I showed my wife the rocks just outside Kassiopi where I got my rocks off with my then girlfriend.
  10. Aye Portugal usually great for weather. Vila Sol my fav down there but La Troia - affectionately known as Troia the Destroyer - is the best course I've been to in that country, a proper championship track. Was there in February. Won a grand on Caribbean poker (stupid game, no skill) one night, lost it all the next. Easy come, easy go, hrmph.
  11. Strangely zero motivation to get on a plane just now, something I've been doing more than a dozen times p.a. on average in recent years. It's not even the scare of catching Covid, or the fear of having to quarantine on return. I just don't feel like it. Quite bizarre. When - or if - something resembling normalcy returns, Japan and Vietnam will probably be our first venture although a week in the sun does sound appealing, Greece maybe rather than Spain.
  12. Quite tragic really that The Amateur has no spectators. People watching, with or without a mask, outside on a classic links are obviously big risks of being spreaders. Good start by Scotland's best prospect. Ben Schmidt the best in England in my opinion, despite watching Conor Gough in the Walker Cup in September. All these lads not even 18 yet.
  13. That's unacceptable. You should know better. Forum etiquette is under attack. You have a duty to uphold it. Now finish the story! We need to know the circumstances of both events. How did the altercation arise and who won? A full description and a blow-by-blow account would be appreciated, plus a detailed injury list on both sides. Was the man hole cover underperforming in its duty or was it thrown at him, perhaps by a lute player from Botswana?
  14. Golf is a good analogy. In the early 70's when golf wasn't popular, it was only real enthusiasts participating. Us kids had been taught well, about the traditions, the history and the etiquette. There was great respect shown towards the game and fellow participants. Then colour TV came along and popularity surged. This brought with it incompetent practitioners and beer-swilling louts. The time it took to play swelled from three hours to 3.5 and then 4 hours, and considerably longer than that often these days. The corporates came along, buying memberships and spoiling the courses with their golf days, where rich businessmen who didn't have a clue would pollute the fairways and they would think they were doing us a favour by "putting money into the club". It was better and more pure in the past. When it gets too busy, shit starts floating to the top. DT is Panmure in 1970. The hat is the Links next to Pittodrie in 2000.
  15. When McIlroy dumped his first girlfriend, he bought her a flat in Belfast. Doubt CW would've kneaded his dough.
  16. You're not alone. It was such a minority sport that in 1975 at Hazlehead, an academy with a thousand pupils, we couldn't raise a 4-man team for the De Beers Scottish Schools Championship as only three of us played golf.
  17. Makes sense. See what I did there? I'm the comedy master. Learned from the best, a poor baiter mastur bator. My wife wonders if Rory McIlroy is firing blanks.
  18. This is also very common. When one of them fabricates a mistruth that fits their narrative, they repeat the lies of others too. But you got to feel for Scotland's Euan Walker, currently first reserve. Hope he gets in. He could really use a start.
  19. Something quite beautiful about this girl and yet a paradoxical element to it that I can't quite get my fingers on. She is quite expert at keeping shafts on plane and yet there is innocence in how loose she is. A good swinger, she will smash a lot of balls during an extended period, which the red and white barmy army will appreciate (or red and yellow increasingly these days, as it makes a come back).
  20. I also don't want to see them banned but it's important that this type of mutant-behaviour doesn't spread. We know it's confined to three only (at the moment) but where I was mistaken that they would have their (sick) "fun" and fuck off after getting bored, they seem remarkably resilient, having no shame and not being capable of understanding that some people on this planet don't dig their shit, lacking in any form of reasonable perspective whatsoever.
  21. They don't think with intelligence. They are unfamiliar with concepts such as decency and integrity. Their modus operandi is always the same. They make shit up, they regurgitate it often and so much so in fact that they start to believe their own lies. Fabricate-Repeat-Believe. There are HUNNERS like them on other forums and also, I understand, all over the internet. There is a known syndrome of fuck-ups like these cunts getting their kicks from being nasty and bullying online. It's never going to affect us but this is the closest I'll get to these sad people and I'm desperate to find out why they behave as they do. I've got some pretty good conjectures but I'm looking for that corroboration, which might be forthcoming if they didn't just drop shit all over the place and run away, not like little girls (as I first thought), but like the mentally-disturbed people they are, not caring for normal "forum etiquette" as you call it, which I find rather spiffing.
  22. I never had an issue with sotr... on the public forum. Never had an issue with him off-forum neither as PM's aren't my thing but I suspected he could have been capable of some political skullduggery. He tried too hard to be easy-going and anybody trying too hard in anything is covering for something.
  23. Spanish fitba doesn't half look mad at times, the boardroom politics in particular. Real Madrid were the traditional maddies with their managerial merry-go-round. Whatever happens, I can't see Barcelona being competitive this season coming, with or without Messi.
  24. Just stop with the madness, mutant. Tup and I have never been bosom buddies. We just found ourselves on the same thread dealing with one of you three at the same time. This is not the hat. I don't get why you three came over if you love it so much? You won't get away with the same stuff that goes for usual over there. You are pissing off a lot of people.
  25. Messi has told Barcelona he's leaving, which he is perfectly entitled to do every year at the end of the season and before the new one starts. They're saying that he can walk for free and that likely suitors will be Man C and PSG. Given that he will obviously be wealthy already and not in need of cash, I wonder if he should go somewhere different, like Cove, AFC or Leeds Utd.? He might still covet European trophies right enough.
