I think youngsters had started to (ahem) boycott the longer format and, to an extent, 20/20 was necessary for the generations that never had to wait for the tele to warm up. The 2024 series against India was great, and the antics of Sam Konstas added to that. Since then he has shown he's not quite adult (boring) enough for test cricket and hasn't featured.
