The commenter (on the premier stream I think) did make a good point regarding Sievert in that he hasn’t had a break over the summer so is basically at the end of his season. When you consider this and his age is it possible we are just asking too much of him? Not sure if we could rest him in favour of Palaversa or if we need to further strengthen that area.

I was just watching the BBC live reporting updates and was wondering what was going on. I think it’s a disappointing result with the way Hibs have been recently, but definitely highlights we are still a work in progress. By sounds of things we could do with a good experienced head at center back. So it might be time to give McDonald a run if he’s fit by the weekend.

I agree he’s not a starter for them but he could be a squad player. I don’t think he’s going to the English championship to be a bit part player but the team he likely supports, I think there is a fair chance he would go for it. Especially if the money is good.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see McGrath sign for Celtic before the end of the season. I always hope that the young guys would rather head down south but unfortunately even being a local gives them about a 50% likely hood they support one of the old firm.

I believe the sell on is an indefinite thing, but that might just be in my football manager experience. I don’t think a new contract should change anything as they could offer him that at any time. I suppose there is a lot of different ways to structure any agreement so potentially could be time limited but I would imagine we would cover ourselves for a good period if that was the case.

I don’t disagree with that. It was frustrating to see how long Clarke waited to get the subs on after half time. Jimmy would have had a couple of attacking changes at half time. In my opinion, ultimately Clarke while a better than average manager is just not on the same level as Thelin.

Yeah BBC kept going on about needing the second goal and I was trying to figure out how that worked. Turns out they were wrong. Our head to head with Croatia is now 2-2 so it’s now down to goal difference. Still need a three goal swing but Croatia don’t have Modric for Portugal now so every chance they could get beaten by a few goals.

We get a say in that as well, as we play them after Dundee, so not bad odds on this happening.

It would have been nice to see Celtic and Rangers drawn together. But I’m not overly fussed, likely we would have met Celtic eventually anyway. If we win this tie I would feel confident going into the final against Rangers.

Not necessarily expecting him to start but I would be surprised if Palvaresa doesn’t get a run out at some point. So that will be interesting to see. Most important thing is just to try and keep the momentum going with another win. Prediction: 2-0 the Dons, Nisbet and Mcgrath

Imagine he’d be too expensive to bring in now. Was he a winger or a central midfielder? If he’s a winger might still be worth a look if he’s being moved on at the end of the season, but I think we are well covered in the middle of the park. Edit: Then again I suppose it depends on what McGrath is doing at the end of the season.

Its one of these situations where he doesnt really have much of a choice. Hes registered as our player so he cant just go off and start playing for another club, and yet if he had just acted professionally he would have probably got a move which would have suited everyone. Bar him going out and netting 20+ goals this season I doubt he will even get the move he wants at the end of the season as no one wants a player with an attitude problem these days. Just a crappy situation all round now.

That’s a fair take Rico I think folks are getting a bit carried away at the moment. It seems like we are going to do fine this season and assuming the other contenders continue to struggle like they are at the moment, I think we have an excellent opportunity to take third place. After the game on Saturday and how close we came to losing it you would think we would get a bit more perspective. That’s not to take away from the performance in general which was good but if it wasn’t for the penalty save we could have easily dropped the points. The last time we beat Rangers into second was 17/18, and that season they finished on 70 points while we had 73. Are they as bad as they were that season and are we as good? I doubt both those things although I would of course be delighted to be proved wrong.

Everything has gone very quiet considering the window closes by the end of the week.

Having thought about this a little, how hard would it be for the SPFL to schedule games between the teams who are looking to qualify for Europe between each other in between qualifying weeks. If Kilmarnock had been scheduled to play Hearts this weekend it could have been mutually beneficial to call the game off. I know there’s no guarantee teams like Kilmarnock will make it through to this stage of qualification but it would make sense to try to plan for it if we are saying that it’s beneficial to have a good coefficient.

Could be the agent trying to drum up offers, apparently interest from Sheffield utd and QPR. He’s only been there since January and has been doing pretty well but it would be a risk as he came from non-league previous to joining St. Johnstone.

Odd to see Duk keeping number 11. I don’t know how you deal with that situation or if we are any closer to some sort of resolution. I would have expected him to be given a number outside the first 11 though even if the numbers don’t represent anything these days. I assume that the approach to recruitment is a more patient one now that we are not in Europe this year and with Thelin just in the door. Hopefully this will yield a better calibre of player, we will see I guess. I would be disappointed if we don’t make a few decent signings this month though.

Without looking it up I would assume that Dnipro going bankrupt would have a lot to do with the current situation in Ukraine.

At least with Mitov signing it would seem we have told them to shove there 500k for McCrorie. Hopefully we get at good chunk of compensation for him.

Jack would be a poor signing for us. He’s 32 and past his best not to mention hated by the support. I’m really hoping we are not even looking that way although I do believe Panda is on the wind up.

I think it’s because to be in the bottom six generally means we are not performing to the standard expected for most of the season. It’s also not like we had any groundbreaking results to get to the final. We edged Hibs in the semi, who have performed as badly as us this season.
