  1. IMO you need your eyes tested, not least describing Milson's goal as an excellent strike, it was a goalkeeping howler.

Also, I can mind at least two saves by Langfield, one that he almost spilled out to an attacker so think your 4 shouts shout is dubious to say the least.

If folk think there are any positives in a performance that results in Aberdeen deservedly losing then we're fucked.

What so there may have been 5? 3/5 is still an excellent strike rate. The Langfiels spill was the one I remember other than the 3 others.

I was side on to the Milsom goal (had stand comps) and it looked a good strike to me.

  2. Read over on Mad that Diamond was booed off.

    Anyone confirm?

    I never noticed this.

As far as the game was concerned I thought we passed the ball well last night and totally dominated the first half. Should have been a few up as it was one way traffic. Came out in the 2nd half and equalized then went to sleep for 10 mins after McCardle went off and awoke to find ourselves 3-1 down. We pretty much took over again from there but never really looked like scoring before Milsoms excellent strike.

Albeit the result was poor, the football was good and for me a lot of posiitives in the performance over all.

PS I think St Mirren had 4 shots at goal all night, all on target.

  3. I get where you're coming from, and a lot of it at the time was just another stick to beat Mark McGhee with for some... you'd have thought Foster was the bastard child of Paul Breitner and Paolo Maldini, when the reality is that we just needed anyone at all who could play full back to a barely acceptable level; which is exactly what Foster provided, sometimes it was a bit more than that and sometimes a bit less but over the course of a season he was certainly a better option than sticking Considine or McArdle at left back and right back.

If we are going to improve though, we require a better standard of player than Ricky Foster.

I hear what you're saying but how come Walter Smith thinks hes of an acceptable level for Rangers, and in playing terms they are miles ahead of us, yet WE (the bottom 6 team) need a better standard of player. Now either he is better than we give him credit for or the fact that he generally holds his own in the Rangers team is some sort of blip.

  4. Missed this post MBT.

Got to agree with you on this.

To the younger lads on here imagine attending three cup finals in a row against the brothers grim and winning them all and having the luxury of your manager slating the team after one of them, because despite the victory it wasn't up to the standard you'd become used to  ;)

True Al, we didnt know how lucky we were.

  5. It was after a challenge from behind wasn't it? Hartely nicked the ball and the boy caught him from behind or something to that effect if I remember correctly.

Just watched it on the highlights. The boy stamped on the back of his leg, shocking challenge.

  6. I had comps for the game yesterday and was sitting in the main stand at the end St Mirren were attacking in the first half (was really popular with the surrounding Buddies for jumping up and shouting yes when we scored at the death). Zander and Vuja didnt really put a foot wrong in that first half and then in the second they were pish. I think that the midfield pushing so high up the pitch meant that they were under constant pressure every time St Mirren broke and they cannot handle that.

Jim Jeffries was at the game yesterday so he may not be overly keen having seen that performance.

  7. No, he was signed against his advice. One of the dunniest/scariest things I have ever seen was Leighton teaching him the basics during preseason.

His performance against Killie at Rugby Park was without doubt, far and away, the worst goalkeeping performance I have ever witnessed. It was real candid camera stuff.

  8. Huge sigh of relief but think we deserved our bit of luck as only one team was attacking and trying to win, despite the commentators trying to make out the game was evenly matched..

Biggest problem today in my opinion was the final ball which was severely lacking in quality.
