Good effort.am hearing that in the Joey Harper tune - 'He plays at Pittodrie, just north of Kincorth'......etc

"He came from Morton to play for Aberdeen, he's the finest inside forward the world has ever seen". (Wish I could remember what I did yesterday though).

Hayes had some cracking shithousery with Armstrong toward the end.  Hayes is as good a choice as any for motm but I wouldn't have complained if Coulson, rama, Miovski or Kennedy got it.

I do quite like Stewart but he needs to just stop with the Beckenbauer shit. There was a few times in the first 25 he got caught out but he was much better in the second.  Its hard to judge the defence today too much as I didn't think Killie were up to much after the first goal went in.

Your comment re Stewart/Beckenbauer is spot on...when he lost the ball because of a heavy touch when it was still 0-0 was more Ifil-esque.  It's just like the incident when we were 2-1 against Annan and he tried to be too clever, got caught out and fortunately they fucked up a great opportunity.  He won't get away with it against Jota for instance.

Really enjoyed watching yesterday (no trains so no Ally Pally fitba for me) and the Killie commentator was hilarious! - the incident when Killie's skipper completely wiped-out (Kennedy I think) near the touchline and, as he was watching the replay, "Nothing much in that".

Said after first couple of games for us, that Coulson was beyond us.

He is only with us because his career has been curtailed due to injuries.

Likely outcome of new Boro contract or pre contract elsewhere.

Would absolutely love to get him on a permanent but just can't see it

Could be another Tommie Hoban who also looked beyond us but was plagued by injuries.  Hope it doesn't happen to Coulson.

Thought we got sucked into physical battle with Irish in first half. Too static with Dykes up front. Second half we moved ball better and as Al said scored a good team gothaal. Was amazing to here how close an Irish accent is to A Glasgow one.

Agree with that a typical "British" game and we played into their hands.  Second half was much better though once we equalised we were far too gung-ho and that break-away so nearly cost us...reckon if the passer and receiver (don't remember either of their names) were the other way round they would have scored.

Hope Clarke plays basically the same formation on Wednesday and doesn't do a Smithy '91!

Got to say, couldn't give a flying fuck about who that game but have to say it wasn't half a decent watch.

Now for the main event 👍

Any links - was hoping it would be in ITV4 or something - doesn't seem to be on hesgoals.  Obviously my neighbours are hoping that wild screaming Scotsman doesn't disturb our enjoyment of strictly dancing on ice or whatever people watch on a normal Saturday night.

  6. According to the Guardian online the new club's game against Napoli on Tuesday has been moved to Wednesday because of limitations on police resources.  So what is happening on Tuesday that is such a drain on resources but doesn't apply on Wednesday?  I would only hazard a guess that on Tuesday the old biddy's body is lying in state at ipox because they are ultra-loyal (except for paying their taxes, obviously) and they have to keep out the kaffliks.

Not long back. That was a honking performance from back to front and in the dugout. The only plus point today was dispelling the myth that McRorie can play left centre half. He was atrocious today, and he didn't recover when he went to midfield. Stewart was an absolute bombscare. For a captain to be so unsure of himself, and so lacking in pace, against such a labouring forward line is shocking. He had to get deeper and deeper than his fellow defenders as the game went on to cope with his lack of pace.

Clarkson wasn't strong enough against eleven man Motherwell and Ramadani was breathing oot his airse after 60 minutes, as was Miovski. Sh/J/Hayden Morris takes the prize for the worst debut performance since Hernandez. Goodwin has had over a week to look at the guy, and it's obvious to anyone with eyes that he's not nearly good enough for playing in the SPFL (that might change with fitness or whatever of course, but right now I'm talking about). Watkins was the correct replacement to make and even allowing the initial error, Morris should have been hooked well before their third, where he was posted missing again. An absolute liability, who just wandered off his man, whilst offering nothing in attack.

Motherwell just pressured us knowing we'd make mistakes and we obliged. Several of our players looked done in the heat after an hour. Goodwin didn't seem to read the game at all. His changes were poor and at the wrong time. Hopefully it's just a blip given the huge turnover.

Lovely cross from Scales (reminds me of mulgrew, a really good left peg) and a great header. Really good battling from Richardson (who did alright today) for the second.

Thought Vinny was shite today...he's obviously got an excellent first touch but once he's got time to think about what to do he looks lost. Same with Ramadani, broke forward a couple of times and then thought "what do I do now" - eg the last couple of minutes, got as far their penalty box, did a couple of step overs and then got smothered out. The only thing I can remember Hayes doing was complaining to the ref.  Kennedy was back to his performances for the last couple of years (guess it's easier to look good against Peterhead and Stirling Albion), gets the ball, look to take on the full back, doesn't fancy his chances, turns back and play a safe pass (except when he twice passed it straight out for a shy (auld guy's term).  Thought we were lucky to only lose by 1 goal.  Positives (scraping the barrel), Scales, McKenzie when he came on, Miovski's goal (like last week a real poacher's goal).

Doing ok now after a poor start,a bit more composure up front might have made a difference.Stewart and McRorie having a good game.Besuijen and Ramadani coming into a bit more

We've got a bit chance if we win the ball quickly just inside our own half and we lob Hart - he's really trying hard to prove to Pep that he could be a ball-playing keeper!

  9. Always enjoyed these championships since watching Lachie Stewart hanging onto the coattails of Ron Clarke (holder of multiple world records but never won a major championship gold) and some English runner running side-by-side as he followed in their slipstream, in 1970 and as they came to the last 200m glanced towards Clarke as if to say "Sorry, mate, but this is mine" Lachie Stewart - Commonwealth Games 10,000m Gold, Edinburgh 1970 - YouTube

Reason for posting this was that I was on the BBC site and there was a link to an "amazing 10 goal thriller" in the hockey between Scotland and NZ.  I've no idea of who would be the underdogs in this game but we were up 4-0 and 5-1 and drew 5-5...Alan Rough was in goal for us!

Game supposedly on the 30th or 31st August.

Too much to ask these games be played on a weekend

Actually pleased with that...daughter is about to start as a junior Dr. in Dumfries and a midweek visit from down south with B&B + train is far cheaper than a weekend one!

Absolutely gutted to hear this morning of the passing of "The Brush" aka Davie Robb

Appreciate he was before the time of most of us on here apart from myself and MBT, but he was a real hero of mine.

What a character with a decent goal scoring record for us.

Thanks especially for '76 final Davie.

    Rest in peace.

That's terrible news...saw him make his debut v. Dundee at Dens in the cup in '67 (I'm that old!).  A real legend for the dons.

    RIP, brush

  12. Part of the email from AFC -

    2008s
Aberdeen youngsters from the 2008 and 2009 age groups travelled to Tønsberg, Norway to play in the prestigious Flint Micasa Cup.

The tournament was made up of 64 U14 teams from across Europe and it was the young Dons, led by coaches Derek Young and Greg Moir along with Kevin Stewart, Rob Crimin and Richard Taylor, who came home with the trophy!

On day one, as one of the seeded teams, they came through their qualification undefeated, scoring 12 goals without reply. On Sunday, they progressed to finals day after six wins and a draw.

The business end of the competition took place on Monday, with Aberdeen meeting Liverpool at the semi-final stage. Cayden McGuinness scored the only goal of the game as the English Premiership side were defeated in a thrilling match.

In the final, Aberdeen played Red Bull Leipzig and produced another outstanding performance. With five minutes to play, Jack Searle scored for the young Dons, but the German giants equalised in the final minute.
The match went to spot kicks and it was Joseph Teasdale who had the honour of finding the net to give Aberdeen a 5-4 win on penalties.

    2010s

Elsewhere, the Aberdeen 2010s were in Germany for the Pfingst Cup, one of the largest youth tournaments in Europe.

Academy Director Gavin Levey saw the side coached by Calum McDonald, Mark Slater and Kris Mavor play a total of ten matches and registered seven wins and two draws – their only defeat came against eventual winners Eintracht Frankfurt.

After going down 2-0 to the Germans, the boys regrouped and beat Mainz 05 to finish in a very impressive fifth place.

    2011s
The 2011 age group travelled to the Netherlands to take part in the Jorrit Hendrix Tournament where they finished third. The coaching party was made up of Liam McGarry, Stephen Brodie, Matthew Mackie and Aberdeen first team player Jonny Hayes.

With top European clubs from the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany involved, it was some achievement for our U11s make it to the semi-final stage, where they lost narrowly to Borussia Monchengladbach, 1-0, before beating AZ Alkmaar 2-1 in the 3rd/4th place play-off.

Borussia won the competition by beating Ajax 5-0 in the final. Aberdeen had made it through from a group that had included FC Koln, Ajax and PSV.

To be fair you can’t fault the final day of the English Prem for drama at both ends of the table.

Yes, but was it as good as 1965 when Killie had to go to Tinkcastle and win by 2-0 because in those days it was goal average not goal difference.   And that's exactly what they did (not like Hearts to bottle it).  Obviously because Sky didn't record it it doesn't really count.

Haven't checked the result - we still the most successful Scottish club in Europe then?

Whatever the result we'd still have been the most successful Scottish Club in Europe as it would have been Sevco's first Euro trophy.  As it happens they've still only won 1 trophy in their existence.😃

Because he is an ex St Midden player and apparently a cheating bastard on today's evidence 🤔

Surely that's not right...'cos whenever the ref crosses the touchline they are completely neutral like Collum, Madden, McLean  etc. etc.

So it was definitely a hand ball. There's maybe a shove on the player, but then no free kick was given and the game was restarted with a drop ball. Mental.

If Bates is giving him a shove why isn't his upper body tipping forward ? And why does the ref, when he's disallowing the pen, indicate that it hit his head first?

Worrying that Lewis Ferguson isn't being linked with anyone. I would like him gone nice and early so we can plan without him, and also a bit of a transfer auction would have been nice too to bump the price up.

Instead can see him still here in pre-season, wanting away, being unhappy, taking long range shots any time the ball comes to him, and finally leaving for a nominal fee at the end of the transfer window.

Not surprising given the way he's been playing recently - thought he should have been subbed off last night.

Just cannot bring myself to go to this. Last two home games have been utter shite and cannot justify the expense to do it again. Any sensible manager would have Considine in for Bates on Saturday. Pretty sure that won’t happen though. Could try dropping McCrorie back in there instead of Bates and go with Watkins in his attacking midfield role to support Ramirez up front. Just have to scrape a win here but cannot see it even against a team managed by McGhee.

    Oot

    shopping

bailing out of shopping and heading to local game

looking up dates of play offs

    1-1 Ferguson penalty

    Isn't McCrorie suspended?
