That about sums it up. Really shite game. One of the biggest disappointments was the lack of urgency in that second half. I felt a bit sorry for Duncan and Phillips who came on and seemed like they might want to play a game and go on and score, while the guys that had been on from the start like MacDonald, Jensen, Devlin and McKenzie just kept slowing the game down, taking fucking ages over throw ins and the like. We got that a lot under McInnes. When Warnock came here talking about fun, I assumed he'd deal with shite like that. It's an entertainment game, and we had won the game, he should have been screaming at that back line to play the fucking game and not attempt game fucking management against a fourth tier team. Nobody who watched that pish will be returning in a hurry.

As you say, Polvara is a squad player. It baffles me that people were suggesting he was some sort of midfield genius after a meaningless friendly against Frankfurt. He doesn't do the yards, take chances or make tackles, he's just an average squad player. Morris is dogshit and Duk has given up the game of football. Jensen and MacDonald are a terrible pairing. Laboured as fuck. Gartenmann came on and immediately took the ball into the opposition half and looked for a pass, showing at least a small slither of urgency (although he did slice it out of play too!). Sokler was poor, and too interested in playing his man and not the ball. Duncan tried things but was just a bit too rushed in everything.

Anyway, Warnock cannot afford to fuck about with these guys, he doesn't have the time. He needs to pick a couple that he might be able to work with and bring something to their game and sideline the rest. I'd probably persist with Polvara and Duncan (only cause he came through the youth), ditch Morris, Duk and MacDonald and only play when injury requires it. I think Jensen needs replaced in the summer too. Special mention to Phillips for running around like a mentalist, but he needs to play furthest from defence possible, as he's not really a footballer.

Presumably he was giving as many players as he could a game to see what he's dealing with.  Hopefully he's have learned (not exactly a mensa question) is that Morris, as you say, is really crap...in the first 5 mins he got the ball, skipped past his marker and then, instead of sprinting into the space he'd created, cantered because he's a playground fitba player...beat somebody, look at me I'm so good, take on someone else and lose the ball - his 2 efforts in the 2nd half when he was one-on-one with his marker and he headed for the bye-line but didn't actually get away from his marker so that his cross had to be hurried (see v. St Mirren); that Duk hasn't got it as a player (lucky the ref. didn't book him for his blatant dive which would have been a second yellow), that purple patch he had last season is as good as it's going to get.  Wasn't at all impressed with Barron when he came on unfortunately as I thought he'd have started but I guess Warnock is giving him and Clarkson the chance to impress from the start/come on as sub as his main creative player.  Doohan looked ok-ish but seemed in the same mould at Roos - punch rather that grab, stay on your line - at least he didn't once kick the ball into the  of the stands.  Jack MacKenzie continues to impress.   Good to see Warnock leaves one up front when we're defending a corner (even though it was usually Morris) because it occupies at least 2 of their players.  All of those on here of a religious persuasion (and the rest of us, just in case), please pray that Miovski doesn't get injured.

We're in the next round of the cup and that's all you want, to be honest (tbh as you youngsters would type).

Would love to see us win the cup but not sure how a lower league joker from England who’s never won the cup in his career is going to suddenly do that.

With Tlg on this quicker this season is over and Warnock fucks off back to England with a pile of our money the better.

Maybe he'll be like a lower league joker (from Scotland) who'd never won a cup in his career (and didn't again) until he managed the Dons - Ally McLeod.

...and apply some width with a lamppost (or Morris, whichever is closest) and another on the left?

That's a bit insulting, mate...lampposts are useful for pedestrians, dogs.

Then there's reason to suggest that his one tactic could begin to work and we go on a run.

Unfortunately his one tactic turned out to be "trust in luck" (against DU Fletcher missed 4/5 fairly easy chances and against St. J we should have been 1 down before Consi was sent off so that worked well) and then Duk was suddenly on fire, Clarkson was strutting his stuff and Shinnie was a real driving force  Unfortunately none of those 4 (including luck) have turned up this season - Duk is looking like a less effective Sam Cosgrove, Shinnie (as you often intimate) is running around like a headless chicken because he's playing in the wrong role,  and Clarkson can take a good dead-ball kick but can't often pass to the guy in the red shirt standing 10-15 yds (aul mannies term) from him.  We've got a really good centre-forward who is being run into the ground chasing long balls launched hopefully in his direction - he's a striker like Joe Harper..in the penalty area, with a smidgen of goal he'll score (ie the 2 against Livi) because his movement is excellent but Robson asks him to chase about after hopeful balls down the channel or compete with guys 4/5 inches taller than him.  I really wanted Robson to succeed but he's shown himself to be too much like Goodwin - my tactics are right and even when all the evidence is showing me that I'm wrong, I'll continue doing it because it'll eventually come OK and I'll be proved right - and as obstinate (Baron not being picked because he's not signed a new contract (I'm assuming that's the reason)...just cutting your nose off etc).

Maybe the referee still has his Christmas shopping to do.

Not a good look that game is called off at 2pm and an hour later Dundee are training on it.

From the videos the pitch didn't look great, and I still think Dundee have been negligent not having the pitch covered this morning, but could they not have pushed kick-off back to 3:30 and cleared the pitch?

haha...there was a number of times when the Club I used to help run when living down south and at this time of year the ref. would turn up at 1.30pm (for a 2pm KO) and say, "Nah, the pitch isn't playable, game's off...and I'll take my £50 fee thanks very much".

By the tine I'd reached Dens Park (about 2pm) the rain had stopped, so as you say, it would have been easy to delay the KO, clear the water off the pitch and start at 3:30/3:45 but obviously the ref. wouldn't then have had time to buy Mrs McDermid a hoover for Xmas (which she will, hopefully, shove up his arse).  Still a least I had the opportunity to look round the Discovery Museum...except it was ******* closed!

Seriously. I can't believe the hype miovski gets. Anonymous then misses that chance. I've never been a fan but I'd swap him for Boyle in a heartbeat.

Never looks like he has the heart to get to the ball first.

    And now misses a pen.

Starting to think I might be onto something here

I've been to eight games before end of October and I have an even worse win ratio that Robson

One win in eight games or 12.5% and that was against Stirling Albion.

Maybe I should stay away ?

Sorry lads but I have a ticket for Saturday ☹️

I'm worse...no wins, 5 defeats, 4 draws.   Saturday -  time for the law of averages will kick in.

Curious for people’s thoughts on Stephen Robinson at st mirren. Decent experience and from what I recall did ok at Motherwell. Don’t watch st mirren so no clue about the quality of play but based on results he must be doing something right??

well traveled, good age, and knows our league. Other than going the foreign route no clue who is appealing and out there, one of the reasons I think Robson got the job to begin with.

St. Mirren looked very good against us few weeks back that then it was against us!

I haven’t seen the duk from last year in a long time. He struggles to beat people for pace this year from what I see. Saw that today, couldn’t beat the right back for pace.

I hope I'm wrong but he's beginning to look like a 1 season wonder.

The question I have is why we always struggle against any team which sits in particularly if we don’t get an early goal. We should have a bit more nous and quality about us to dispose of these teams but we regularly play all our football in front of their defence and shift the ball about in a pedestrian manner. Our coaches should surely have a clue how to unlock these teams other than repeatedly doing the same thing.

How many long throws did we take and how many did we win...no idea and zero.  And then how many goal-kicks did Roos (and by the way he looks very dodgy when the ball is pumped into the 6-yd box) take to the same quadrant and how many did we win...no idea and zero.  What is that cliché about doing the same thing over and over again and hoping for a different outcome?   Similarly, how often do I say FFS he'll connect with the first defender whenever Hayes trots across to takes a corner?...every fucking time!

What a glorious result to wake to and I have to say, dons Twitter is equally glorious. Fuck me, did not see that coming. Had a sneaky suspicion we might sneak a draw before going to bed, probably from listening to the gartenmann interview in fairness. Got me feeling optimistic.

looking forward to watching the game back now!

Despite all their "possession" we only conceded 4 fouls whilst their number was 18. 4 fouls for a team that is set up to essentially defend shows how brilliantly disciplined and tactically aware we were. Hate to admit it but the ref (presumably not going out to the lodge tonight) was OK. Oh, and how did Miovski miss that chance?
