There was one situation in particular when he picked the ball up deep and attacked straight up the middle. Far too often we’d knock it back, square, or send it wide and hope. He’s an aggressive 10 that we’ve badly needed, I like what we’ve seen so far. for this formation to work we need a 9 who can play technically, creating 2v1s with 9 and the wide guys and the 10, or wide guys and 10, as you saw with him and morris. Yengi really struggles to control the ball which makes this hard. He was a little better today though, but from what I’ve seen on YouTube, lazetic seems pretty technical and could make a big difference.

Motherwell at home in the next round, not a bad day!
-
I wouldn’t necessarily say that. You can only make 5 subs, deep bench. At the same time, they are down the pecking order.
-
Hoping Milne’s groin isn’t a big deal, he was the one who waked off towards the end.
-
Not complaining but Morton have been awful. Offered very little. Exactly the game we needed in a way.
-
Exactly the type of preseason games we’ve lacked. Solid half. In true form though, Morton score and it becomes a demanding fight we don’t need.
-
Got a strange feeling yengi has a good game. New striker arriving and he’s extra motivated. Think he scores today.
-
Good to see some rumors today, plus p&j reporting we have a sell on of 20% for mccrorie. If he goes for a reported £3m that pays for today’s newbie! Seems like there’s a bunch positive feedback regarding the Hungarian lad too, interesting!

You saying Greenock is not the Milan of Scotland? besides Marko, who else is being linked???
-
I’m starting to think we’re ruining polvara’s career. He’s not getting extended minutes regardless of how he plays, and he’s played out wider recently which is not where he belongs. None of our central players are consistently good, I just don’t under stand why he isn’t given a start. As you say, perhaps we aren’t aware of all of the story there. I really wonder if he’s capable of playing alongside shinnie with adil ahead of them. We clearly signed a 10 so polvara isn’t playing there from the start, why aren’t we trying/taking a look?
-
Bit harsh I think. Thought milanovic was unlucky when he was physical and took the ball from tierney early in the game. Wasn’t a foul. Compare him to a morris, hedges, McGinn, Hayes okkelsetc, maybe topi, he’s just as physical or more so.
-
I think that style of play comes from our inability to get it to a 9 who can collect and link with the other front 3. As a result, when you know your 9 is pish you go wide or to 10 earlier and you get what you said. Not effective.
-
So much of our play in a 4-2-3-1 relies on a capable 9, until we have that we’re going to struggle. Much of our play will involve hitting the 9 for link play, but right now our 9 can’t control, link, or play. Thought we were more attacking minded than we gave been against them in recent years. thought the two central defenders did well. Delvin did well on the left. Getting no attacking play from sivert or shinnie hurts, one needs to provide attacking options. Add to the fact sivert should prevent the first and the second is a ball inside where maybe a holding mid should be? two 2-0 losses is no embarrassment. Season starts next weekend for sure.
-
Two good goals from Celtic, not really bad play from us. No overreaction here, I think we are a couple of signings away from being a decent team. Hopefully the new 9 links with our other front 3 and we’ll be solid! tough start to the season but not unexpected, especially with the transfer window still open and business still to be done.

2-1, sokler (2)!!!!
-
Yeah. If we had a threatening 9 who worried them I think that makes a big difference. Still, we didn’t just sit back, although we haven’t created much. Need to get milanovic more in the ball and in space, I think he’s a legit player.
-
Not a bad half, poor goal to lose but good play by tierney, sivert could have been tighter. Nice play at times from milanovic adil and topi, they look a threat at times. Poor yengi though, just not happening for him and I really don’t think he looks much better than Ambrose. Surely sokler can be more of a threat today. only 1 down at half, at least we didn’t go 2 behind in the first half as has happened far too often in recent games. All to play for.
-
That’s my take. Looks pretty technical and athletic for a big lad.
-
In principal?? Meaning he can or can’t score the winner off the bench tomorrow? frustrating to be waiting on transfers, but when you are looking for something better others have to be interested too, and they cost money. Finding another Rama or bojan isn’t easy I suppose.
-
Of course it’s penalty to rangers in 90 plus mins. Still, win tomorrow and we’re top 4 maybe. Martin is in a tough job, not unlike us in a way, he needs a complete overhaul. We’ll give Thelin time, Martin won’t get that. based on results so far it does appear we couldn’t have had a tougher start playing the top 2 perhaps, unless it was in Glasgow tomorrow. Two losses is no disaster, but for some reason I think we’ll play well!
-
It’s all doom and gloom at the moment. Milanovic looks a signing, Adil has had tidy monents, and I think Kjarten could be a find. Yengi looks gash but I think cosgrove did too when he first joined us, and he scored a fair few before getting us 2M. Celtic aren’t buzzing with confidence, much like us still have to have finished their transfer business, and squeezed a win at home last week. They also haven’t played many games to get up to speed. would like to see devlin at left back, shinnie and polvara in center mid. 2-1 us tomorrow, yengi and milanovic, although maybe a new signing today comes off the bench to score the winner!
-
You’re meaning this as long as rangers and Celtic lose every euro league game, correct? Ideally, Scottish league games too.
-
Good grief, two posts today got me briefly excited. Positives for hibs, united, and hearts so far this season, and it’s been crickets from us for 2-3 weeks and some poor play. Ugh.
-
*Huntly! I will question the Nicky devlin situation. Very different to Jensen but I wonder who is better suited to the SPL. Devlin was our best player for a number of months last season. He did a job in the cup final on the left, surely a better fit than shinnie as a short term fix if he’s not playing RB.

We’re in agreement, I saw ramadani as a dominating center mid, althletic, powerful, and saw a lot of the ball. Until we solve the center mid and center forward positions we’re going to struggle. I’m starting to wonder left back too. Playing with one up, that one has to have ability. Easy to say now, but would yengi scoring a home hat trick against Huntley, fraserburgh or the likes have helped him settle? I heard the argument against weaker preseason opponents but there is value when you have a number of new players trying to settle at a club. I do think two lighter creative players in center mid doesn’t work for us and we saw that for much of last season where we really couldn’t play clarkson and McGrath together centrally with one of them at 10. It’s been a year and have we really figured out who our two best central mids together are??
