  1. I don’t think it’s sustainable this time. It’s alright having a Cold War when you’ve got 2 cars in the drive, have health cover, like eating and go on holiday once a year.
  2. Yep. I think managers have collectively realised that talking a good game is more important than your record. Every uk chairman is after the same thing. Waffle the right bollocks to them at interview and they’ll forget all about Darvel (I can’t)
  3. If the transmission was slowed, does that not lessen the burden on the NHS? Im still waiting to hear a downside for it
  4. I would disagree with all of that but you’re right about cars. The vaccine didn’t prevent transmission but it certainly lowered the chances. Lessened the risk of long covid and reduced the severity of the symptoms. There was nothing to weigh up, no downside at all. You’re also putting teachers in a position. If I was one, I would’ve told them to ram it.
  5. Anyway, back on topic. Donald Trump is a nonce
  6. Does is matter if Jason Leitch was wrong though? There were clear benefits to vaccinating children, for them and for society as a whole. Parents refusing to doing so, for the most part werent weighing anything up. They were projecting their fears onto their children based on misinformation Now it’s open season and in some cases a complete cop out. There’s an anti vaxxer in my town who blames his 3 kids being a bit highly strung on the measles vaccine. You’ll know the type, a digital content creator who films himself in his car telling you how the world really works. There is zero evidence of the MMR jab being linked to this anywhere. What’s more likely is the fact he’s a fucking idiot, his wife is a fucking idiot, so the chances are that’s not going to skip a generation. Who’s to blame? Big Pharma.
  7. Why do you keep saying the Scottish government kept schools open?
  8. 0 points out of 6. That was nowhere near Hearts first team and it’s the worst Celtic side I can remember. We’ve not won many points against the rest of them either. I know your turd polishing is performative but nobody is going to fall for it
  9. You’ve created a scenario there and filled in all the blanks to suit it. The extremist anti vaccine groups were already there long before Covid. Like I said, it was Christmas Day for them when it appeared. When people unsurprisingly started doing their own research, it was their shite they were reading for the most part. If everyone had did their bit instead of saying ‘well actually, I read on mumsnet that the local authority next door is opening their pub a week earlier & it’s unfair that I should wear a mask in Morrisons as it’s against my civil liberties and I read that in Sweden schools are open and actually he NHS isn’t overworked because I saw a TikTok of some nurses dancing……..’ We all have our own individual experiences of COVID and for me, nothing rips my knitting more than people being drama queens about masks, vaccines etc while folk had to isolate and people downplaying it. It’s a bad flu, it’s only old people that died etc. On the subject of schooling, nobody is ever honest about it, so it’s not a debate worth having
  10. Oliver tells you things government do want you to know, it’s just that it’s not our government.
  11. I work in Scotland where your job application gets binned depending on what school you went to. Life experience is valuable but you can’t argue the numbers.
  12. I dont doubt for a second you researched it. The fact you did in the first place shows you weren’t going in with an open mind. You were looking for confirmation for your move and you found it. If you had researched it properly you would’ve found that the vaccine is class, makes you look cool, gives you a wee rattle and harmless. Just for clarity though, do you think the government shouldn’t have mandated the vaccine because it supersedes your body autonomy? It’s an overreach?
  13. Of course theres information on both sides but half of it is complete shite. You can say that about any subject on planet earth. What will really frazzle your mind is why you’re saying it about vaccines. It’s the same reason transphobia has gone through the roof, it’s the same reason why folk disproportionately hate immigrants and it’s the same reason why folk use the word ‘woke’ to describe everything they don’t understand. I guarantee you if you had unplugged your internet cable in 2013, none of this would matter to you Anyway, here’s a handy link. Read it, or don’t. The facts stay the same regardless http://www.docbastard.net/2019/03/busting-vaccine-myths.html?m=1
  14. Red tape was cut, clinical trials overlapped, the whole world was working on the same thing with unlimited budgets. That doesn’t mean anything was missed, or that they rolled out something that was unsafe. You might think that’s shit but none of that changes the facts
  15. I’ve no idea what point you’re trying to make in the first paragraph. On your second, preventing children from attending school was an intelligent response based on the science
  16. They were developed quickly, they weren’t rushed.
  17. I accept that the perception of vaccines are different when it comes to the COVID one but I don’t accept that the COVID vaccine was unsafe or there was any legitimate reason for anyone of any age not to take it. The response from various governments around the world is a separate argument altogether. The US & UK made many baffling decisions based on their competence. Nicola Sturgeon was despised (especially in the NE) for what I would say was a pretty decent attempt at facing a pandemic. Some countries did better than others. Sweden was absolutely shite before anyone starts. If it happened again, we would all make the exact same mistakes because we’ve learned nothing from the experience
  18. There’s no data to back up what you’re saying. By some particular quirk of fate, I had a few years head start when it came to anti vaccine stuff. There’s a whole back story to it and why vaccines in particular were used (& later trans folk) but I can assure you, the position you’re taking is nonsense. When COVID arrived, it was like Christmas Day to an awful lot of people who had been primed for it but not for the reason they think. This is the bit where you start filling in the blanks about Big Pharma, VAERS report, face nappies etc. I’m afraid it’s all complete bollocks. You’ll never take my word for it though, or the data proving it, or the word of anyone at all no matter how qualified.
  19. You were sure but you reached the wrong conclusions. Your previous post on how dangerous the vaccine is shows how wrong you were in gigantic neon lights. I’m glad it’s worked out well for you though. Youve moved to a state with a measles outbreak btw
  20. You weren’t playing Russian roulette, you shouldn’t have done your own research and you made what appears to be a fairly big upheaval for absolutely fuck all. I can see why you have to convince yourself you were right though. It sounds like to me you’ve never been to Airdrie
  21. It’s a fairly poor argument pulling the ‘you’ve never lived here’. I’ve never lived in Airdrie either but I know enough about the place to know that I never will. Im not attacking you personally but some of the points you are making are crackers. Demonstrably so. They would be crackers regardless of your postcode. It’s not a differing opinion or the basis for debate. The position you take on certain subjects are damaging and contradictory
  22. Weighing up the risk? On the one hand, you’ve got a global pandemic wiping out millions. On the other hand, you’ve got a safe and effective vaccine I have a kid but he didn’t make an appearance until after COVID. So far, hes had every vaccine available with more to come. He’s getting the full bhuna.
  23. If it wasn’t based on rigorous science, then the decisions being made by adults on behalf of their children weren’t either In which case, they were taking an outrageous gamble. Whack jobs saying this vaccine is unsafe vs global pandemic.
  24. I’ve been to the states a few times, both for work and as a tourist. I won’t be going back any time soon. I think you’ve probably spent too long there. You sound perfectly rational trying to justify positions that are fucking off the scale mental.
