I thought Ball was ok in midfield but absolutely honking at right back. I'd tend to agree if he is indeed returning on loan then Gleeson's knee injury is fairly serious. Downside is that we probably won't sign a proper right back to cover Logan. If McInnes plays Ball at right back against sevco in the league opener God help us
-
I think they would unless we agreed to subsidise a fair old chunk of his wages
-
Both are considered 3rd choice at their respective clubs ( though we will see if what dons8321 says regarding Ward actually happens). Woodman is still young enough to wait for his chance but Ward is now of an age where he has to become a number one choice, I think Liverpool will buy a new 'keeper shortly and Ward will at best be back up. There's no great hurry for us to do anything but I do suspect Joe will get a better offer than we can match when his contract expires, probably from a mid level Championship side. By then it will be clear about both Ward and Woodman as to how their careers are likely to pan out. If we were willing to pay 10k a week to McGeouch we could certainly do so for one of them, though i suspect Woodman is on nowhere near that at present. We won't find out the answer to this one for a good while but I stick to my assertation.....Rodgers will never be our first choice keeper (and I'll deliver a big "told you so" when I'm proved right )
-
Cos he is the cheap option. Really cannot see him ever becoming our first choice keeper, presume we put an U20 on the bench this season and recall him should Joe get injured. St Boo I'd imagine are covering 100% of his wages in the meantime. If/when Joe leaves we will try to get Danny Ward or Woodman in permanently

That would be Baroness Benjamin, Lib Dem life peer Who knew that Play School would spawn such a political big hitter..

Always felt Crawford whilst no doubt talented is just too lightweight to be consistently effective in the SPFL. And don't think Naismith returning was the reason for his rejection at Fartz. Its a no from me. Really have no recollection at all of Nowak playing but defensive cover is an urgent requirement so if this does fly then I'll trust DM's judgement.

Unashamedly lifted from the Hat. Supposedly his missus has been telling everyone -

Hunjack apparently getting sent out on loan  -
We already have one of those in Cosgrove. If the Doidge rumour is true then all I can say is meh x 106 As I and others have mentioned, it's far more urgent we get a decent right back/wing back in to cover for Logan's suspension.
-
I'd stick with it. Russia showed Croatia are no great shakes and Guffland (although no great shakes themselves) have a bit of momentum about them, allied to that little bit of luck needed to progress deep into the competition. Of course i fully expect Belgium or France to comfortably see them off in the final so that's the point I'd cash out.

If that's true then    -
He has a year left on his contract....if an English club from the upper reaches of League 1 or possibly lower Championship (if he's very lucky) want to cough up northwards of £500k then good luck to them. Of course he could choose to sit it out another year and leave on freedom of contract....'Well get sweet fa except a possible development fee. So surely we have to at least ask the question. Nothing lost if it doesn't come off.
-
Id say we more urgently require full back cover, especially with Logan suspended for the sevco game. We should be offering 'Well 300k for Cadden (expect them to bite for 50-100k more) who will be Logan's long term replacement and then look to add to the striking department.
-
No allegedly about it.....4 year contract. Agree he is the type of player that we should be targetting but with 3 midfielders already signed guess DM is looking to strengthen other areas right now.
-
Only upside to signing Miller would be the mahoosive "Fuck you" it would deliver to der Hun. But he is almost 39, lost his pace, doubtful he could play 2 games in 3 or 4 days and would be expensive. Let's hope he takes the Livi gig....
-
I'll reserve judgement till after tonight's game. Guffland win and the jingoism will be cranked up to 11. Lose and they'll still be cock-a-hoop because "the route to the final" will be so much easier if they are in that half of the draw. Sad to say if that's indeed how things pan out, I can't see anything other than the Guffies in the Final.

What you have to realise is that TV coverage has changed somewhat since the bygone days of the 70s and 80s when Scotland would invariably qualify and invariably make a c@nt of things once there. In those days there wasn't the blanket coverage we get nowadays where every single match is available live. We had 3 or 4 channels only so we only got live coverage of Scotland games ( and Guffland or Norn Irn if they too had qualified) plus selected other games deemed of interest...usually 1 game per group for each station though the later stages would get complete coverage. So we roughly got only half the coverage we do today.....obviously BBC Scotland or STV would cover our own games but Guffland/Norn Irn games would be covered by the nationwide broadcasters (ie Guffies).

Arthur Montford and Archie McPhershun were absolutely unashamedly Scotland biased in their commentaries all those years ago.
-
We are after Alex Schalk according to the Record

English leagues are vastly overrated. The ex Fartz goalkeeper is a Scotland international now, Cwith always had ability but suspect temperament and ozturk was decent enough in a shitty jambos team. I think Ross will get them up automatically but will struggle in the Championship and be bulleted around 18 months time.
-
Given that he was due to go on Shinnie's stag jaunt before they both got called up for the Scotland tour I'd say he was definitely enjoying life at Pittodrie knowing he was going to be a first pick every week. I'd agree his performances second half of the season were nowhere near the level of the first half but sure he was carrying a niggling injury that never really got he proper rest it required as our squad is/was so thinly resourced. As for losing the ball by holding on too long........well that was Hayes' big fault too. It is just the way of things with flair players.
-
He's almost 39, and whilst no doubt he has looked after himself physically, at that age your legs can't do what they used to consistently for 90 minutes every week, sometimes twice a week. Guessing he would have been used in the Christie role. So why not just show a bit of ambition and bid £500k for Christie. Dhims would prob reject that but certain they'd cash in for £600-750k as they know he is never going to be anything there than a bit part player.
-
It would bubble along even nicer if Panama could get a result at lunchtime
-
If Mexico were somehow to go out it would be a travesty for the competition. I hope they not only just qualify but go on and win the whole thing
-
Croatia have a population of just over 4.1 million. How can a country with well over a million less than Scotland consistently produce teams that not only just qualify for championships, but also get through group stages into the latter parts of the tournaments?
