Highland League

2023/24 fixtures already announced. Brechin City will be desperate to win again this year to try and get out of league after getting close last year.

  • Just like being back in the 90's with Huntly sitting top of the pile 👍

  • We just call them Brora same as Cove.

Maroons min! ❤️

3-2 away in Wick.

A long journey home, with the Wick off-licence mannie rubbing his hands in anticipation.

The ire that overwhelmed me when standing in the pishing rain on Eglinton Street and seeing the Babies equalise was tempered a good deal when the final score came through from Kynoch Park: Keith 2, Nern neen. That’s the Maroons unbeaten for hunners, and, most pleasing for the anointed people of Central Banffshire, is the fact that the Maroons are ahead of Buckie in the table. Games in hand ana. Keith’s opening goal scored by Jack Searle, on loan from the Reds.

For family reasons, I’m unable to attend live fitba for the next couple of months. 😕IMG_0350.thumb.jpeg.6488632e7901c15377d715a36495caf6.jpeg

How did those dirty bastards from Keich get that far ahead of the five in a row champions from the 90's 😉

And so it continues…

Turriff 1 Keith 2

Now 7th in the league, from being third bottom in October.

Ach, it had to end sometime. Keith 0 Grantown on Speyside Thistle 2.

At least I’m getting a break from Weegieland today, sorting out a few things in the NE.

Brechin’s draw with Formartine hands massive advantage to Brora now.

Cat among pigeons in the closing stages today, as Brora lose 1-0 toIMG_0461.thumb.jpeg.fac3f6ddc8e51bb2c03ab66d6ffaad85.jpeg Banks O Dee, and Brechin win 4-1 in Nairn.

Zak To, on loan from Cormack Park, scored to put Keith ahead v Forres, 1-0 the final score, and the only een aboot which I give a fuck.

Bit of a novelty for Keich to be above Huntly at this time of the season 😂

Two things:

1. The ‘Keech’ thing was already overdone in the Green School playground in 1965.
2. Huntly have been utter pish, with a poor return from significant investment, since they last won the title in 2005. The Maroons’ current chairman even got the fuck out of Crusty Park to take on the Kynoch Park rôle, and he’s doing a good job.

You’re gonna have to up your game a notch or two if you want to swap Heelan League-related badinage. 😉

Huntly 1 Keith 1. A fair result according to my correspondent. Ronan Craib scored first for the Maroons, and the equaliser came when the Huntly striker’s mighty swipe at the leathern sphere saw his airborne left wellie well-saved by Craig Reid as the ba trickled into the bottom corner. The Maroons’ Conor Bird was red-carded late on for persistent interference with the diesel injectors of the groundsman’s tractor.

Invergordon to be admitted to the Highland League to replace Brechin City who are moving to the Lowland League assuming they don't win promotion to League 2 via the playoffs.

Welcome to the league Invergordon F.C.

I guess they're my local Highland League  team now.

My Highland League loyalties remain with the Lilywhites though.

Another twist in title race with Brora drawing with Formartine and Brechin winning 3-0. Brechin City now 3 points clear with 2 games left.

Brora beat Brechin 2-1 tonight to go top on goal difference with one game to play. Brechin play Turriff away on Saturday while Brora are away to Huntly.

3 points and 4 goals ahead, which is exactly the difference between Turra and Huntly in the massive tenth/eleventh place battle. Full coverage on the BBC I expect.

C'mon the Huntly 👍

Huntly did get a draw at Brora earlier in the season so not a given that Brora will win on Saturday.

Ah, I thought Brora were three ahead of Brechin for some reason. Huntly will tank them. Marco De Barros hattrick.

Nah, Martin Stewart out of retirement with four 😉

Retired? Fuck sake.

Rothes 1 Keith 5.

Beauty is truth, truth beauty

That is all ye know on earth,

And all ye need to know.

(Although Turriff thrashing Brechin 5-1, whilst sugar daddy-minted Brora drew 1-1 at Crusty Park did raise a titter)

Couldn't keep a clean sheet against the worst team in the league...
