Seems ConDems have crashed down south as expected with Labour making pretty big gains. 

Be interesting to see how things pan out in Scotland but presumably given it is STV there won't be any councils where a party has overall control.  Apparently heading for the lowest turnout in years up here but then you'd hardly know there was an election on where I stay.  No posters or billboards and I only got one leaflet through my door which was Tory, which is bizarre given in my ward I'd imagine they'd do well to get even 4th on 1st preference never mind get anywhere near a seat.

 

Don't suppose it means much so far away from a GE but already had Tory MPs demanding Callmedave is more right wing after UKIP success in the south and comedy figure Lebit Opik demanding Nick Clegg resigns as leader of the Lib Dems (but seemingly stay on as Deputy PM).

Also glad to see that so far nobody has voted in favour of Mayors in various English cities. Total waste of time and money and nothing more than a celebrity driven ego trip (see B. Johnston and K. Livingston)

For my own mental health I purposefully don't pay much attention to all the politically charged stuff that's going on these days. For instance I know there seems to be gangs of angry guys going about hiding their faces protesting about stuff but I've no idea what their main issues are regarding.

I did manage to see the guy who turned up at some establishment in Portsmouth I think it was, with a group of the previously mentioned protesters and give a really shit speech about the council buying a house for his mum.

Very weird.

I nearly puked every time the media mentioned 'the special relationship' between the US and UK. It seemed to be just the UK based politicians that were of aware of it.

A lot has happened since the phrase was first used but the sucking up to the mighty USA still continues. The first meeting between Burnham and Trump is being treated by the media like giddy parents who have just waved their kids off for a first date. Although the main concern seems to be will Trump like Andy. Who gives a fuck if he likes him or not? Absolutely zero dignity.

Spent a bit of time in Europe this summer, mainly Germany. Not my first trips to those parts by any means but for some reason this year it really hit home how much more "American" than "European" the UK has become. Shopping habits, general lifestyle, media, politics, etc etc are all so similar to America. It's very, very sad.

Starmer showed that blowing smoke up his arse doesn’t work, making agreements with him doesn’t work, any kind of diplomacy at all doesn’t seem to work…I think a fresh approach is required. A more honest one.

The world would be a better place

We need to align with the gestures that motivate him a bit better. He loves naming things after himself. Burnham should consider naming some of our own infrastructure after him as a gesture of good faith. For example, the Donald J Trump Offshore Windfarm to recognise his contribution to the leisure industry in the North East would be a good start, particularly as it's visible from his golf course. He'd love that I'm sure.
