June 3, 200818 yr comment_24658 Heard Sir A saying how Gazza might have benefited at 19 by choosing Man Yoo instead of Spurs and the London bright lights. On such mad decisions, the seeds of madness are sown... or at least, the existing seeds are not prevented from flourishing. Report

I would certainly imagine SAF having a more positive and steady influence on his life than Terry Venables did. Would imagine that Venables positively encouraged a lot of the drinking culture at his club at that time - he certainly did within the England camp in 96. But, Gascoigne is a child. He can't handle the fact he can no longer play pro football. Wouldn't be much Sir Alex could have done about that. Report
June 3, 200818 yr comment_24661 But, Gascoigne is a child. He can't handle the fact he can no longer play pro football. Wouldn't be much Sir Alex could have done about that. But if SAF had him for a decade say, the child within may have been moulded into a man. No drink culture tolerated, and the introduction of basic self-discipline, something always lacking from the clown-child, may have turned his life around towards positive life-habits. Sadly for Gascoigne, no-one will ever know. I blame cinq bellies. Report
June 3, 200818 yr Author comment_24669 Haven't heard Aberdeen mentioned even once. All very disappointing really. Frost made it clear throughout that it was about his time at United. He did mention the European final in the rain and hitting the tea urn in Romania when he was shouting at Strachan. Report
June 13, 200818 yr comment_25301 Finally watched this last night. Interesting that he is waiting for the BBC to apologise before he will speak to them again. Anybody else think he should bury the hatchett? The BBC are not going to apologise for a documentary they made if they stand by the findings of the programme. This was the programme that upset Fergie four years ago and he has never spoken to the BBC since: http://www.bbc.co.uk/pressoffice/pressreleases/stories/2004/05_may/25/fergie_son.shtml Report
