Aberdeen v Heart of Midlothian

It's that time of year when we're all so optimistic about doing well in the new season, which usually stops at the final whistle of the first game.

The Dons take on last season's champions runners-up Heart of Midlothian at 5:30 pm on Saturday 3rd August. Hearts have given away their manager, top scorer and best player to their big brothers in Glasgow. Nevertheless, it will be a tough game, and I fancy a 1-1 draw, with Nisbet on the scoresheet for Aberdeen.

You have to feel for Findlay, if he'd just left Olusanya alone he would've cleared the ball himself.

  • Think we have to treat them as a really dangerous opponent and not be too drawn in by the lack of structure/confidence etc. They are starting this season like we did the last but have still got player

They had better hope the Red Shed is a lot fuller, than it was at the league cup games.

What’s happened with the red shed? Sounds much quieter these days and from tv, looks pretty sparsely populated too? Or is it all form related?

Wasn’t much better in the latter half of last season was it not? Maybe I’m just remembering random games

It was a lot quieter last season and was virtually empty for the recent league cup games. To be fair, the crowds weren't great in general.

Think the bans handed out to some of them have seen a decline in overall numbers and imagine the novelty will have worn off for some of them.

Certainly added an atmosphere to our home games, the past few years, so hope it picks up again.

Almost sold out for Saturday, should hopefully be better this season if the team can also play their part.

One of my first thoughts when watching the SG game last week was their defence very much reminded me of ours at this point last season. Wide open and unable to deal with any high ball into the box.

They did look worse last night too, only player that caught my eye was Miller. Schwollow as well 2bf but he's away today. Braga looks a busted flush and not sure he still wants to be there after the summer departures. Macentee and Spittal looked all at sea in the middle of the park too.

Apologies if I have missed it but surely we have not all had the "Spittal Schwollow" open goal right there all this time without comment ?

I’ve completely blitzed last season from memory tbh. Red Shed pretty much sold out now for tomorrow, a few tickets left in the corner next to the main stand.

Atmosphere should be decent tomorrow with the later KO allowing for extended prematch boozing.

TV game so giving this a miss. Hearts looked poor against Graz side that probably would have made most teams in our league look poor. We looked okay in league cup games against poor opposition. This might give us better feel where both teams are.

Oot

Local game not sure which

Home to watch on tv

Flat.

2-1 Nisbet and Ronan

Well, we will have a better idea how the Robinson revolution will be shaping up in just under 12 hours.

Looking forward to it, but not overly optimistic like some are.

Just hope we keep our home record, against this lot in tact.

I feel good about this game. Fully expect us to be right in their faces from the off and an early goal followed by more sustained pressure straight after could see them fall to bits at the back if you ask me.

Beeb has it as a 3-4-3. Enjoy folks, in tae em heid first etc

Pretty even and uninspiring start so far. Couple of good balls from Ronan that should have been pounced on. Olusanya wasted that golden opportunity too. Hopefully we’re just warming up.

Seriously, fuck off Olusanya.

Easiest pass in the world to put Ronan clean in - can’t do it.

Just embarrassing…

For as long as we have lasagne playing in our starting line up we will be crap. A huge statement of intent from the club.

Comical defending. So no change there.

Essentially the whole team in the box and they can’t defend it. It was such an obvious play. Same shit, different season. Yogane isn’t having the best of games, doesn’t seem to be at it, and Olusanya, well. What’s left to say?

Bit worrying in that the first time we step up a level we revert to type

Completely avoidable goal to concede and reckon it is a going to be a struggle to get anything out of this game.

Would snatch your hand off for a draw right now.

Very Lacklustre half. I was expecting far more intensity and desire to get in their faces from us, but not seen any of that really.

Yogane pretty anonymous. One good run then a dreadful cross - pretty much what Dundee fans said about him.

Olusanya just showing yet again that the absolute basics of football are completely beyond him. I mean, WTF.

Delivery into the box has been as embarrassingly bad as ever.

Another comedy goal conceded.

Big improvement needed second half. Not impressed at all…

There still seems to be a distinct lack of quality about Aberdeen. Lasagne had two opportunities to put Rohan in, didn’t take the first one and screwed up the second. Yogane too seems cumbersome. I think we’ll lose by two or three goals here.

Had the chance to be a couple up before the goal. Olusanya making a poor pass and nisbet's lack of pace costing us in the first half.

Thought Cadden had a good half and we looked decent. Don't feel. Like ronan has really had an impact.

Ronan put some great balls in the first part of the half, but then it seemed to go out the window. Big second half needed or we’re going to shift more goals. Just not sure where it’s going to come from.
