Brought up in the Broch, it has always been the chip shop, I've never used either chipper or chippie. Heard more folk say chippie but the question always was " anyone want anything from the chip shop" Broch is alot posher than I remember Quote

Deviants who use any other terminology should have their right to support the club revoked. There has to be special dispensation for fans who have never ever lived north of Edinburgh and most definitely have never been to a chipper in their life Quote
GASC1980 Posted 6 hours ago Report Posted 6 hours ago I had a portion of Chips with curry sauce today at lunchtime. First time i've been in a weegie chipper for long enough. It cost me a fiver. What's that all about? A fiver. Think it was about 3 quid last time I went. Premiership survival - Can we get safe? Take that any day of the week over relegation. That simply does not bear thinking about. Quote

The reason is that you get your meat from a butcher, fish from a fishmonger, groceries from a grocer, so it stands to reason that you get chips from a chipper. There you go. Case closed. There’s a flaw in that logic but I’d need to get all Bernard Manning about Chinese restaurants and where you get your magazines and rolls in the morning Quote

Panda Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago This thread has inspired me. Yes that is brown sauce on my chips and I will be answering no more questions on the matter. 1 Quote

My brother is very partial to brown sauce on a chipper supper. In my own opinion, sauce on chips is wrong, but each to their own on that score. Quote
