Stewart on the other hand he has praised regularly. I was in Inverness at the start of the week and one of my mates who is a season ticket holder for ICT said exactly the same Jute Quote
KGB Posted yesterday at 10:16 Report Posted yesterday at 10:16 There is an element of our support who seem to think Bavidge would be the next King Joey if we'd just give him minutes. Quote

I'd settle for another Darren Mackie. Unfortunately he might not even be that but probably worth a punt rather than another "project" debacle. 1 Quote
GASC1980 Posted yesterday at 10:30 Report Posted yesterday at 10:30 I'm delighted we are going to give both of them a chance. Can't be any worse than Ambrose, Yengi or Olusanya. Folk say the 2 Alfie's are not good enough for us. Well i say give them the opportunity to show us what they can do and prove otherwise. 1 Quote

Unfortunately he might not even be that but probably worth a punt rather than another "project" debacle. I don't think he'll be as useful as Mackie. Mackie was similar in attributes to Olusanya. Bavidge seems to be similar to someone like Bruce Anderson. Technically good, but not particularly fast, not really got a burst of pace over ten yards either, and not 6ft4 or as wide as Curtis Main. Those physical attributes are difficult to engineer in a player. Striker is a very hard role without at least one of them. I agree with the overall point about project players, but I also don't think that should be a reason for bringing through a youth player if the trajectory seems insurmountable either due to physical attributes or ability. I'm guessing Bavidge will go out on loan again next season anyway. One of the slightly pernicious aspects of the development loan system is that it allows us to hold onto players like Bavidge, who would otherwise have just gone to ICT permanently, and utilise a team like Arbroath to de-risk our development. I'm not quite sure the balance is correct and necessarily good for lower clubs or young players. Although it undoubtedly benefits other young players, so it certainly isn't black and white. It does greatly benefit us. Quote
STFU_Donny Posted yesterday at 11:04 Report Posted yesterday at 11:04 From what I saw of Stewart last season, I’ve wanted to see him get a run in the first team to see if he could step up. Hopefully he gets his chance. Quote
