Well that was a damp squib. We played as well as we can and we still never looked like scoring. Second half was a waste of everyone's time as we didn't appear to be that bothered and neither was Thelin given his initial subs. Mitov kept it respectable.

I'm away to head off to Pittodrie soon and I am very optimistic about tonights game.

The last time I felt this confident about a Dons game, was back on the 24th May.

We'll see if this is misplaced confidence or not soon enough.

So it wasn't confidence I had. Just trapped wind.

Just back.

We played well enough and you could see the quality, in spells, from the opposition and that was the difference in the end.

When Yengi and Milanovic came on, you knew we'd given up by that point.

No injuries and now back to real fitba on Sunday.

Just back. Decent game, tireless performance and should have got something from it. Some sitters missed and a weak bit of defending. We pressed really high though and matched them all over the park. Going man for man was high risk but good to see. Their goal came from Devlin being high up on his man and tanking back in to cover for Milne who needs to be a bit better with his positioning. Earlier in the season, we'd have had the two defenders deep and probably dealt with it, but we'd have been passing it sideways and allowing them 80 yards of space all over the park. It's a worthwhile trade-off.

Thought Aouchiche worked his arse off in there tonight (might have solved our midfield issue?), Armstrong outstanding for an hour and Lobban played like a seasoned pro. Was happy enough with the subs, I think Sunday has to be the priority. Yengi wasn't terrible, Milanovic was. Karlsson ineffective but generally worked hard. Mitov obviously pissed off with the disgusting besmirchment of his abilities on here recently and was top class - anyone questioning him should be flogged. Lazetic should be scoring tonight and has to be disappointed. Nisbet looked possessed when he came on. By a man with extremely heavy feet. His first five passes were hit at quadruple speed. You could see he really wanted to get involved, but everyone else was out on their arse (or Yengi or Milanovic).

Thought we played well up against a very good team but as has been said above we just didn’t look like scoring. Thought subs were made in wrong order and Shinnie and Nisbet should have been on first. Lost momentum when Yengi and Milanovic came on. Mitov made some brilliant stops. Really impressed with Barca for Strasbourg when he came on. Convinced that his Grandad visited Argentina in 78.

I can live with 1-0.  We gave a solid account of ourselves against a really decent side.  Ultimately though we are still a work in progress but I don't think we lose any momentum we have built up with this loss.

Mitov putting in his best performance of the season was probably the most pleasing point for me and I was even remotely surprised when he saved the pen.

Interesting to note that of the entire bench only gymafi shinnie and milanovic actually have naturally played wide. Shinnie isn’t really capable of being a wide midfielder and the other two, especially milanovic, have so far shown that they need to be punted. Very poor squad, especially when you add that in a bench of 12 we only had two forwards, one being yengi.

Respect to the guys who made the trek.

Never imagined the day I wouldn’t be fussed about going to a European game.

Hopefully get my stumps stirred (ooh matron) once we see the back of winter.

Just in the door @ 1.31 a.m

Home sooner than the Noah game but then no 75 mph winds to battle against.

Enjoying a dram, shame on you Aberdeen based supporters that didn't turn up tonight 😂

Thoughts on the actual game tomorrow but having had a quick scan it looks like Rico has written my summary for me again 😉

Definitely not a performance to be ashamed of but it was yet another case of the what ifs. Lazetic should be knocking his chance away and in fairness, their goalie made a cracker of a save for knoester’s second headed attempt.

The subs really were our white flag moment. Felt like we just gave up (and given by the subs, we did), when actually putting Nisbet alongside Lazetic might have got us the point we deserved.

Agree re: Adil, thought he had a stormer of a game and probably should have got his effort in the first half on target. Wasn’t a bad effort but needed to bend considerably to get that in. Didn’t think Karlsson was all that flash?

There were definitely points in the game when it looked like we were a proper team, don’t think they enjoyed that game against us. We were up in their faces and making life hard while still playing a decent game. Glimpses are there, but the squad needs some serious work. Nice to see Mitov back to his best too. Superb.

I thought Karlsson worked hard, but you could see he was closed down every time he had the ball. Same with Lazetic.

With Karlsson, a simple pass from him would likely make a difference, but I suspect he will never change that side of his game and why we have him on loan.

I think that’s probably the most frustrating side to his game, there are better options / simpler passes to make and he seems to try to do it all himself. Is he more skillful than most of our team? Probably, but building the team up will help his own output, he just needs to see it. That said, playing with the likes of Milanovic and Yengi will make you question things 🫣

Thought the referee and linesmen were honking last night. Strange calls made all game.

I've been an advocate of taking foreign refs into Scotland fitba, but not quite so sure now.

Maybe Strasbourg are just French Huns right enough and the refs acted accordingly.

Yes, I do wonder if he dispairs at the quality around him and tries to do too much, but that's the level he is at.

He does have that kid at school quality, of thinking he can play in every position on the pitch and won't pass the ball, because nobody deserves it.

I thought he was going to be a great signing and although a good technical player, I do wonder if we'd be better off sending him back next month.

Fair play Sir. I was back home at 10:15 and was their to the final whistle.

If I stayed outwith Aberdeen I just wouldn't go, as I hate travelling, despise it.

I'm lucky that I can walk to Pittodrie, but always doff my cap to folk like your good self and the many others, who put the effort in to go and watch us all over.

generally very decent first half - the tempo & press is what we want to see in all our games.

we had a few opportunities to get a goal which on another day..

Nisbet was pretty poor again  mistake him returning imo

Nah, he was just trying a bit too hard in that deeper role, getting a bit excited. If he puts in that work rate and desire for the rest of the season he'll come good. I think we could be about to see another of his purple patches in the next couple of months.
