Sack Thelin Oh don't worry, they're making enough of a killing charging £8 and then adding another £5 on for delivery. "Mug" is the apt word. And yes I bought one anyway. 2 Quote

I'm drinking my cup of tea from a five year old Dons' cup this morning as it happens and going by that I reckon the writing on that one you've linked will fade more quickly than your memory of the day. Edit: I should add that my Dons' mug is a solid workhorse of the cup world, good to drink from, and gets used daily. In terms of cupness, I'd give it a strong 8/10. Hope this helps. The mugs over the years (probably last 10 years or so) have consistently got worse. They used to have proper through colour ones that didn’t fade. My folks informed me on my return that one id had for 20 odd years had recently lost its handle was a good latte sized one too. Anyway, had considered the cup final mug, but the above points have put me off. Quote

Anyway, had considered the cup final mug, but the above points have put me off. I have some cups fae M&S or John Lewis or some of those places that have certainly lasted much longer than the Dons' one without fading, I expect it's something to do with the glaze and the finishing layers (I have a couple of M&S - we got vouchers - ones that have faded too). My folks have still got cups they use nearly daily that have their favourite child's (me) name on them that have been in use over many decades, so I suspect it's just the more general enshittification that modernity continues to serve. Back in my day, our lead cups would last for centuries. A bit of asbestos for a lid, kept everything nice and warm. 1 Quote
RicoS321 Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 I have to say, all this chat about cups is far more exciting than discussing the abomination of a strip, or the uneventful window. Perhaps we should consider starting a cups thread. 1 Quote
Slim Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 I'd need to know more about whether you're hand washing or using a dishwasher for your cups before making conclusions on the alleged quality decline of cups over the years. Quote

This for me too but I dont buy cups that cant get put in the dishwasher so I just need to accept the fade Also I'm not prepared.to spend a fiver on postage so will just maybe have to make a trip up to the shop Quote
OrlandoDon Posted July 11 Report Posted July 11 Im too lazy to look, do they do the stainless steel travel mug? That’s a sure fire winner, plenty like me with a coffee addiction. Pretty sure we’d be buying miovski if we sold these in the club shop. Quote

Panda Posted Wednesday at 11:44 Report Posted Wednesday at 11:44 This usually means the launch of a new shirt, so likely a third one ahead of Tynecastle on Monday. The 'granite strip' was only released in September so isn't even a year old yet (although I'll let them off as we did wear it quite often and we probably need this strip registered in time for Europe). The black and gold one, which was heralded so much, was only worn four times - the women's team did at least essentially make it their home shirt which I think is a good thing. Hopefully this one is just plain white without the gimmicks. "It's got green in it to represent broad hill, and the light brown is to represent the sand at the beach". Or it may not be a strip at all, and could just be them getting a new batch of mugs in. I did notice they had run out of the cup final mugs and have been waiting patiently for more. Quote
Slim Posted Wednesday at 12:35 Report Posted Wednesday at 12:35 It is the new 3rd kit, heard it’s got a similar colour scheme to the 2020/21 away shirt, white with gold and black trim. Quote
BigAl Posted Wednesday at 12:49 Report Posted Wednesday at 12:49 Got a call from the club shop last week as still hadn't received my DNA shirt and was asked if I'd like to change my choice for the 3rd shirt but wouldn't give me any details about it. Guess not long to wait now then. 13 minutes ago, Slim said: It is the new 3rd kit, heard it’s got a similar colour scheme to the 2020/21 away shirt, white with gold and black trim. manc_don Posted Wednesday at 19:14 Report Posted Wednesday at 19:14 If it was the last mock up I saw online, it’d be a nice shirt. Kinda reminded me a bit of Swansea a few years back. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted Wednesday at 23:43 Report Posted Wednesday at 23:43 Wait ... haven't we already got 3 strips? We've got the main "golf" home shirt, the North Sea black & pale-yellow effort which is pretty tidy, and the granite kit which is less than a year old. Quote

Unless we're signing a new deal, then this is the last season we'll be with Adidas, so I suppose they have to milk every last drop out of it. I'm pretty sure I read Aberdeen saying they were getting a new batch of 'north-sea' kits in, then after that there would no more restock, so fairly soon that strip won't even be on sale. Quote

RicoS321 Posted yesterday at 08:47 Report Posted yesterday at 08:47 Aye, short of being red, it's a good effort. Better than the abomination and the North sea ones. Quote
manc_don Posted yesterday at 09:26 Report Posted yesterday at 09:26 Thought the mockup reminded me of Swansea, this definitely does but it’s a thing of beauty. Nailed it. Quote
Reekie_Red Posted yesterday at 10:42 Report Posted yesterday at 10:42 Thats a tidy top! It'll be sad to say farewell to the Adidas kits, although I do reckon the club could've maybe pushed for a couple of kits with the retro adidas trefoil badge. Who's next then? Many Scottish Premier clubs have gone with Macron who do okay tops. Hearts are with Umbro which would be very cool from a classic perspective. The Huns seem to be the only ones with Castore, and they can keep them - very basic and very meh designs. Quote
