    Fantastic cover version.

Let's not forget Arthur Fowler from  Eastenders.

On a non celebrity basis I am in bits to learn today ov the death of an ex colleague of mine at a ridiculous age of only 43.

I have been to four funerals in the past six weeks.

I am struggling to live with this. It is getting out of hand.

I'm at an age now where some family and friends are getting into their 70's and 80's. I hate to think about what the future will bring. Sorry for your losses, Al.

  2. The easy way out of that is go and support Rangers or Celtic. So many glory seekers out there have done that for years. If you want a team that wins nearly every game in the season that's what you want to do. I'm lucky enough to have seen the glory years of being a Don. But.. I've lived through the utter shite that we played under the likes of Alex Miller, Steve Paterson and Mark McGhee. I'll support Aberdeen to the day I die even If we ended up in the Highland League. As BigAl said, once a Don, always a Don.

  3. Sad to see the death of Mikhail Gorbachev. I was born in the early 70's and growing up during the cold war era was a scary time. Personally, what Gorbachev did means more to me than any other politician in my life time. The Soviet union and the Eastern Bloc would have collapsed at sometime, but Gorbachev speeded things up. Even up to his death he was a critic of Putin and that makes him a top man in my eyes. RIP

I’ll be honest, I haven’t seen it in person, nor can I tell much from highlights as I don’t get the chance to watch many games. From what I did see I didn’t get the hype,  but he’s obviously got something about him or others wouldn’t be sniffing about. Always been the best in the teams he’d been involved with so I wish him luck if he does move. His defensive game needs a lot of work but no doubting his attacking ability. Be great if one of ours makes it in the prem.  And at the top end too.

I kind of felt that way too. But watching this... Oooft, he's going to be a player.

I won't make a habit of posting my articles on here, but decided to start an Aberdeen blog. Gives me a bit more freedom to write what I like than I get in the day job.

Anyway, pored over Anthony Stewart and Liam Scales performances last season, compared them to Gallagher and Bates, put two and two together and got three.

    A good read, mate. 👍

On the subject of William McIlvanney  I have just finished reading the new Laidlaw book.

Interesting as in it goes back to the start and is his first case. Also  McIlvanney passed away whilst in the middle of writing it, so Ian Rankin actually finished it.

Very decent read in keeping with the other three books in the series.

    Definitely recommended 👌

I'm reading Skagboys by Irvine Welsh at the moment. But I have Alan Park's books up next. I need to re-read The Laidlaw books again. Have you read any of Liam McIlvanney's books, Al? The Quaker was excellent.

Liam Scales loan with option to buy from Celtic, similar to the mccrorie deal perhaps. Left sides defender. Anyone got the scoop??

I see he signed a 4 year deal at Celtic last year. There seems to be talk that the lad is very promising so It would surprise me if they are trying to get rid of the lad so soon.  If It's just your normal bog standard loan, well, fuck that.
