  1. As much as I despise the cunt. I'd probably agree with that. Can't see the tims coming back in for him as manager, so little risk there. He'd likely be the most up for, noising up the huns and beating them to second. Think the question would be whether he thinks he has a better chance of achieving that here or at hibs.

After that its a toss up between Neil/Clarke/Robinson/Ross.

Aye the rest are a much of a muchness for me, none are particularly inspiring or appealing.

Totally agree about Lennon having to question if we offer him anything he doesnt have at Hibs though. Guess we've got the bigger budget and better squad, but hibs have the facilities etc.

All irrelevant as I suspect there's too much bad blood between our fans and lennon for it ever to happen, which is a shame as ive pretty much convinced myself he's the right appointment.

  2. The more I think about it the more I think that despite him being a horrible little cunt Neil Lennon would be a great appointment. Success with Celtic, manages a tight budget at hibs, chip on his shoulder and a point to prove to Celtic and hates rangers so no lying down to either of them, decent experience in Europe etc. He’s also a horrible wee shite which could rub off on some of our players.

He hates us too so probably wouldn’t come and assume most fans would hate it but he’s better than many other names I’ve seen and I think I’d be in favour of going all in on him. Would certainly fix some of the flaws repeatedly shown by mcinnes.

Alternatively I could be losing my mind successfully convincing myself it’s a good idea.

  3. Maynard is pish. There's no reason to ever play him. He'll be playing non-league very soon.

In light of injuries, I'd go:

    ------------Lewis------------

    Logan---Arneson---McKenna---Consi

    -------O'Connor-----Shinnie----------

    -Stewart------McLean--------Wright-

    ----------------May-------------------

If GMS is fit, I'd drop O'Connor, McLean deep and put Stewart into the centre with GMS out wide. One game - against us - aside, I haven't seen anything good from May out wide with Rooney up front. We need to get the best out of Rooney or May, and that best comes from getting the ball fired into the box, for which we need width. Neither May nor Rooney provides this for the other. The front 2 does not work with our personnel.

Exactly the team I'd play given Christie and Tansey are out and GMS a doubt.

We need width, we only came into the game a little more once we played with a bit more width on Wednesday so we need to make sure we do that again, start quicker and get the ball into wide areas then deliver decent crosses into the box.

Shame GMS is struggling as I thought he was not bad when he came on at Ibrox, short on confidence etc but at least added something. Here's hoping Wright/Stewart can slot in and perform though.

I just dont trust McInnes not to try and set up to stifle Rangers again out of stubbornness anymore, which will only lead to the same result as Wednesday.  In my eyes he's got as much (if not more) to prove than the players do on Sunday.

Agree Maynard is pish, havent seen any evidence of him being able to offer anything at all any time I've seen him. I don't agree that May/Rooney cant work playing 2 upfront though, I just dont think Sunday is the game to see if they gel.

  4.

Edit: My killie mate told me we hadn't lost there in seven years. Can't say I knew that at all, doesn't seem long ago when those games used to be both horrific as a spectacle as well as scoreline.

Does that mean there’s one less team you’ll describe as our bogey team?  ;)

  5. Not worrying in the slightest from my perspective mate.

Think to distance himself from something he isn't yet offered would be a display of arrogance. Don't read too much into all of this.

Pretty much how I see it now too, between that and his comments pre hamilton about the benefits of being in a stable position I reckon he'd not consider any approach from them for too long before knocking them back.

Been reading online about the pressure Pulis in allegedly under @ West Brom and talk of him having two games to stay in a job.

Now, if this comes to pass, then unlike the NewCo job, this IS a worry and can't help but think that they might come for McInnes this time around :(

Yeah I reckon its a bigger risk of McInnes going if/when WBA come calling. To be fair it would be a good move for him, connections with the club and ticks the box of having another crack in England as he's said is his ambition often enough in the past.

Wouldnt grudge him that move at all, even if replacing him would be a tough task (but not impossible).

  6. https://www.afc.co.uk/2017/11/17/kingsford-update/

A new consultation is to be held for the Kingsford Stadium proposals after new information and documents have been submitted by Aberdeen FC.

The consultation, which will begin during the course of next week, will involve re-notification of neighbours, re-advertising the application consulting the relevant external bodies and council services. It should be emphasised the consultation pertains to the new information received.

The closing date for written representations to be submitted to the council will be 12 December 2017.

Due to the consultation on the new information, it will be necessary to hold a further pre-determination hearing, the purpose of which will be to focus on the new information submitted by Aberdeen FC. The date for the hearing has been provisionally agreed for 17 January 2018. It should be emphasised the pre-determination hearing would focus on the new information received.

The aim is for the planning application to be determined as soon as practicable, which could be by a special meeting of Aberdeen City Council, subject to the agreement of the Lord Provost.

As the planning application remains live, the City Council cannot discuss the detail of it, including the new information and documents received.

In response to the update from Aberdeen City Council, Raymond Edgar, project director for Kingsford, said: “While we had been hoping for a decision on our application before Christmas, we now have an agreed timetable with the Council which will allow the proposals to be fully considered by Councillors in January.

“Following the deferral in October, we have worked with the Council planning officers to provide further reassurance that the Club’s approach to selecting Kingsford complies with legal requirements. In addition, we have undeniably demonstrated there are no other suitable, available and sequentially preferable sites within the city which could accommodate the development. In particular, we believe we have, once and for all, demonstrated that the proposals cannot be delivered at either King’s Links or Loirston.

“As requested by the Council’s economic development team, we have also provided further analysis which shows that the economic benefits of the development to the region are even greater than previously estimated.

“While the Club recognises that the delay has been frustrating for all those who continue to back our plans, it’s vital that we have the best chance of securing the right decision for the Club, the City, the region, our fans and the thousands of individuals from all communities who benefit from the activities of the Trust.”

“The additional information, contained in a supporting statement and appendices, will now be the subject of consultation. Councillors will be given an opportunity to ask questions on the additional information at a second pre-determination hearing in January, so that they will have all the information which they require to enable the application to be determined before the end of January.“

Interesting that they’re now saying they believe that the club/developers have finally fully shown why kings links isn’t an option. Would be interested to see how they’ve done that.

Shite that the consultation process has to be redone, have to think that means there’s been significant changes to the plans though.

  7. FAO All you sevconian neanderthals looking in ( especially KingwankerKirk  :wanker:)

You tosspots were all jizzin yer Y-fronts an hour ago, swallowing every fuckin word from "ITK" posters on your rancid forums that it was a done deal with DM. Who then hilariously (and simultaneously) appears on Red TV and gives an interview that proves every single tribute act ITKer as being full of horseshit

Now do all Scotland a favour and jump off the Erskine Bridge. Kingwanker you may wear inflatable armbands if you wish....

    See you all next week...

What did he say on redtv?

  8.

In fairness there’s a lot of good points made there about how well mcinnes has done here. Rebuilding this summer especially.

I know there’s lots of people saying he’s taken us as far as he can and that may turn out to be true... but on the other hand you could argue it’s just as likely he’s excited about where this group can go and building on what we currently have could bring us closer to more regular silverware if not league titles.

It’s a pure guess based on nothing except his comments after he turned down Sunderland but he seems to be very shrewd when planning his next move, he may we’ll have some interest in the job but i doubt that means he’d definitely take it if offered. They’re probably even worse off than Sunderland were, taking the job could well damage any hopes he’s got of a High  level job in England, which he’s made no secret of his desire to progress towards.

I suspect the prospect of working under a DOF may well come in to it too, going on how he seems to have operated with us.

  9.

I think your name is too long. It's uncomfortable on my screen.

Apart fae that, I agree with your assessment. We scored a record number of goals last season, with a record points total and played some excellent stuff fairly regularly at home and away. I've not seen anything of Steve Clark to suggest he'd be a better manager. It'd certainly be a hell of a risk.

Can’t really disagree with any of that.

losing McInnes would be a massive blow, don’t think anyone has or would claim he doesn’t have his faults but the change he’s brought about in the club is huge, itd be a crushing blow if all the good work taking us this far stalls, or even worse regresses. I’ve yet to see a single realistic name suggested that would inspire confidence in progressing from where we are today.

Here’s hoping his chat of only moving on to the right job and having unfinished business in England leads him to turn down any approach from that shambles of a club that may come his way.

  10. Like the fact there’s some fresh faces and some of the tried and tested failures have been left out, even if that does have more to do with the timing and location than any real desire to move on.

Despite it being a meaningless friendly right on their doorstep I’m pleased McLean, Shinnie and Christie are included, it’ll at least show them that playing well for Aberdeen doesn’t completely shut the door to international call ups, a chance to stake a claim for future involvement too will be a real confidence boost too.

Especially important in the case of Christie if we’ve got any chance at all of signing him after his loan deal is up. (Really slim chance admittedly...)

  11. ED I'm guessing McInnes realizes how the "Scottish" press do things and they'd have made a huge issue of it right before rasellik game, so he's pre-empted them. If so, well done.

DD will be in tears (of joy) I just hope he's going to fuck off dahn saff not migrate to Pedro's posse.

Could well be right there, assuming someone was going to leak the news anyway. If not it’s madness to offer up that sort of info the day before such a big game.

  12. Strange time to break the news...

Will be a blow to lose him for nothing but I Guess it means we can sign a more natural central midfielder rather than shoehorning someone who’s always been better playing as a 10 but wasn’t as good as our other options there.

  13. Wasn't it all written on the new stadium feasibility study fact sheet??? Thought the reasoning why it wasn't possible were clear

Wasn’t that the current AECC? Can’t get on the full study but the new AECC site isn’t mentioned on the FAQ’s

  14. Probably not for Everton given his history with Liverpool but with all the talk of some premiership managers being under threat of the axe it got me wondering if Rodgers stock is high enough again to be linked with any jobs that do start to come up.

There’s been lots of talk about McInnes jumping ship, next to nothing about Rodgers attracting interest which is strange given the job he’s been doing.

Would certainly help if he does start attracting attention, could impact Celtics season quite significantly if either him or his squad is unsettled by rumours.

  15. Stewart played the Christie role for the development team against Hearts last week so would think he is the one ear marked to replace him for this game. As someone has already said think it would be madness to change the current back 4 as we have looked solid the last few games. In fact would be tempted to make Stewart for Christie the only change. Fully expect the defenders for racists and kiddie fiddlers to be well up for this game as they know we are their main challengers and will be desperate to put us in our place. Have a horrible feeling Hayes will score winner for them.

Nail on the head for me, really hope McInnes doesnt try to be clever and change anything else.

Regarding Hayes, can only hope if he does get game time that he's severely rusty  :-\

  16. ACC offered something joint with the new AECC in 2013 but the club/Yule turned it down to keep pursuing Loirston and it's now too late. More great work from the visionary George.

I'd be keen to know if there's anything to that or if its all just rumour like the "aberdeen were offered land by the council but turned it down" line thats trotted out every so often. :dunno:

  17. OK I should have been clearer, it's those who despite all the evidence proving otherwise, refuse to believe that Pittodrie can't be developed to the levels we require. They've been as bad as nimbys. If not worse as they're supposed to be our own.

We've had heated, but reasoned debate here. Elsewhere when people have countered some of these arguments, they've been completely ignorant. It's pathetic. Let's see what we end with.

I've got a really bad feeling that as much as Kingsford has its flaws, the realistic alternatives should Kingsford fail will be utterly horrendous.

I can only imagine the reaction should that fear become reality.  :-\

  18. Why would we be watching different players?

Anyone who thought McLeans passing was dire either has an agenda against the player or wouldn't know a football if it hit them on the head.

McLean played well yesterday, a couple of misplaced passes same as most players. How many players come off the pitch with a 100% pass success?

He was also decent against Motherwell (League) and was one of our better players in a poor performance against Kilmarnock.

For the record I am no big fan of McLean but I cant fault his effort in recent games and if he ends up moving on  he can go fuck himself.

Back to yesterdays game, no failures, good performance against a team that have given us many problems over recent years.

Fair enough, to dismiss it as having an agenda or not knowing what I’m talking about  is a bit pathetic though. Don't mind McLean at all, he’s a talented player and a real asset to the team when he’s playing well, he’s not performed to his potential regularly enough though. I could well be being harsh on his performances yesterday but until I see it again Im sticking to my opinion that he was wasteful with the ball far too often and tried far to many Hollywood or misplaced passes when a simple one would have been the better option. He’s a significantly better player than he showed yesterday and I Wouldn’t expect any of our players to have 100% passing accuracy, that’s just a daft arguement to make, I just think his passing was more wasteful than it should have been.

There were  positives to his performance, I just don’t think his use of the ball was one of them. Much more effort on the defensive side of things which is good.

But aye you crack on and write it off as an agenda just because it’s a different opinion to yours...

  19. passing wasn't dire at all, he played well.

We must have been watching different players, Certainly more active defensively, wouldn’t say he played anything like as well as he can or he has for us. Can’t remember many decent passes during the first half at all, improved in the second but still not to the level he’s clearly capable of. Looks like he needs a rest to rediscover decent form.
