Junior reporter competition http://www.afc.premiumtv.co.uk/javaImages/50/c1/0,,10284~5357904,00.jpg[/img] An artists impression of a "reporter" Do you fancy a career as a football reporter or commentator? Are you the next Richard Gordon or Rob MacLean?! We have teamed up with our official radio partners, Northsound Radio (96.9fm Northsound 1 and 1035mw Northsound 2), to search for a budding junior reporter. We are looking for a young writer to pen a match report from this weekend's match against Dundee United. If you didn't make it along to Pittodrie on Saturday then send us a match report from any game you happen to catch this weekend. Your story should be no longer than 500 words and don't forget the line-ups, cards, substitutions and added time. But most all make sure you mention the major talking points, controversial moments, goal mouth action and more importantly all the Dons goals (hopefully)! The winner will be selected by our special team of judges, with the winning report published on RedWeb, www.northsound1.com and www.northsound2.com You'll then be invited down to Pittodrie on Saturday 28th February to join our match-day RedTV team (Dave Macdermid and Northsound Sports Editor, David Ridd). You will enjoy all the action from the press gantry before getting exclusive access to the post-match press conference with the manager and the players. So if you are aged between 8 and 16 and fancy yourself as a football writer then get your report in before the deadline date: Wednesday 25th February at 4pm. Please send all entries, complete with an eye catching headline, and your name, age and contact details to competitions@afc.co.uk or sport@northsound.co.uk or alternatively: Junior Match Reporter, Pittodrie Stadium, Pittodrie Street, Aberdeen, AB24 5QH Good Luck!

Derek Young signs on for another 2 years.
El Padre™ replied to Sonoftherock's topic in Aberdeen Football Club
Jimmy's obviously been told his options are limited for the next couple of years. Lets just accept the fact that Deek won't be doing the plumbing in your houses for another wee while and move on. -
I'm always positive
-
Mackies pace is something we would struggle to replace. He's scored some decent goals this season as well, lets focus on the positive

There's no accountant without cunt.

Who??
-
Larsson and Van Bronkhurst maybe. Ebbe was still an absolute abortion of a manger regardless of factors outside of AFC. What manager worth his salt would have those bizarre corners as part of his tactics? Unbelievable stuff.
-
That's ok, I don't need to be in the majority to be right.
-
Lovells Ring?
-
He deserves fuck all. He was fucking shite. He made a mockery of our club, he made a mockery of football and I was fucking embarrassed to be an Aberdeen fan while he was in charge.
-
I can't believe the stats have the possession at 50/50, I thought we had the most of it from about 30 minutes onwards. Anyway, united only had 3 shots in the whole 90 minutes, was the penalty included in that? Why did we not pump them today, I'm totally baffled. Oh aye, and for the first time ever I have to admit that Maguire finally looked like a footballer. Hopefully it continues.
-
Has Mackie been ridin your sister or something? Gie it a rest.
-
I know lots of people who are 'top blokes'. Doesn't mean I want them to manage our club though. Ebbe was absolutely fucking shite as a manager.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/scot_cups/7872148.stm Lee Miller congratulates Sone Aluko on scoring Aberdeen's third goal Aberdeen duo Sone Aluko and Lee Miller Aberdeen 5-0 East Fife East Fife endured a nightmare start to their Scottish Cup fifth-round tie before suffering a heavy defeat against Aberdeen at Pittodrie. Goalkeeper Willie McCulloch was sent off after just three minutes for a deliberate handball outside his box. Aberdeen's Tommy Wright opened the scoring eight minutes later and Javan Vidal doubled their lead on 16 minutes. Sone Aluko's deflected shot made it three before half-time with Dons' Chris Maguire grabbing a late double. Aluko was prominent in the early stages as Aberdeen immediately had the five-man Fifers defence on the back foot. And it was the fleet-footed Dons forward who goaded goalkeeper Willie McCulloch into the mistake that reduced the Second Division side to 10 men after only three minutes. A simple ball lofted forward sprung the visitors' offside trap and Aluko raced clear on goal. McCulloch was alert to the danger and came running off his line but as the former Birmingham City player skipped past him the East Fife goalie handled the ball outside his 18-yard box. The unfortunate McCulloch was given a straight red card and although Aberdeen failed to capitalise on the resultant free kick, the hosts soon made their numerical advantage count. Once again it came from good work by Aluko whose pin-point cross was swept high past substitute keeper Michael Brown by the predatory Wright. Vidal doubled the Dons' lead on 16 minutes with a sweet strike from Maguire's pass. And Dave Baikie's side found themselves three down after half an hour when Aluko's rasping shot ricocheted off Greig McDonald and flew past Brown. Sean Fagan was lucky to avoid another red card when he was seen aiming a punch in the direction of Aluko. There was little succour for East Fife after the break although the pace dropped as Aberdeen enjoyed the luxury of their substantial lead. Vidal fizzed a long-range shot narrowly wide of Brown's post. And Brown then pulled off a super save from Scott Severin as the home side pressed for more goals. Lone East Fife striker Chris Templeman forced Aberdeen keeper Jamie Langfield into a rare stop with the Fifers showing more composure following their tortuous start to the game. Maguire squandered a golden opportunity to make it four with 15 minutes to go when he latched onto Langfield's long clearance but, with only Brown to beat, the midfielder blasted the ball high over the bar. The youngster made amends minutes later with the East Fife defence posted missing; Maguire found himself unmarked at the back post and nodded the ball home from Charlie Mulgrew's outswinging corner. Maguire then wrapped up a convincing win with a fine solo effort as fatigue took its toll on the battling part-timers. Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood: "East Fife were unlucky but that's the game; if Sone Aluko had gone through it was a goal and in the rules of the game (Willie McCulloch) had to be sent off. "The goals were top quality. "We've had a few bad results against lower league teams but it was a very confident performance today, we knocked it about for fun and had a lot of pace to our game." East Fife manager Dave Baikie: "You can't plan for that, to lose your goalkeeper after four minutes and I've had to take Goran Stanic off. "It's hard enough playing a Premier League side with 11 men but with 10 men it was game over really. "We lost our shape in that first twenty minutes and they scored three goals. "I thought in the second half we kept our shape a lot better but I'm just disappointed we lost those two late goals. "With the lack of match fitness and being a part-time club it was always going to be the case that in the last 10 or 15 minutes fitness would tell."
