I’m in the bin it camp too one thing was interesting in the under 17 championships was the coaches had challenge cards - so like tennis / cricket, they had to put the challenge it to get review with limited number of challenges- 1 per half? No idea the fundamental problem is the officiating is just so bad - VAR being used or not being used will not fix that

We actually played better than we have of late although still too pedestrian in the first half. Only once we were a goal down did we play with any urgency and we looked far better. Why can’t we do that from 1st whistle? Mitov should not lose the 2nd and 3rd goals- really poor. On the balance of the shitefests of the last few weeks I suppose one would bite us, but what an opportunity missed to be 3 points off of 3rd

Thanks for the explanation- 5 weeks seems excessive given the work day sometimes comprises of an hour and a half of “training” i understand that players deserve downtime like everyone else and need to physically recover given more games being played, but feel we could be be doing more with some of the downtime when it becomes available modern fitba is p1sh

Will be amazed if the first team that are not on international duty don’t have the week off or at least a few days. It seems to be the norm these days which is utter nonsense. I get that the season has extended - especially if you are having to play Euro qualifiers in July and players need rest breaks, but the amount of international breaks is getting beyond a joke. I’m sure some of those with social media will confirm the location(s) of our first team

On the flip side to that, went to Athens where we really needed to shut up shop and we went gung ho into a hiding need to know when to be aggressive going forward and when to pack the defence

Thanks TLG and all long term Donstalk posters for the welcome i think most of us want Jimmy to succeed and the Scottish Cup win has certainly bought him some time, but the goodwill will only last so long if we don’t start winning games and actually playing like we want to win a football match rather than not losing it. Many are questioning how long we stick with Thelin, but I am not there yet either although I question some of his decisions and don’t think he helps himself. defensively this season - and last- we have been awful- but we have become so afraid to lose that we have stifled all creativity that we had previously. We have tried to shore up the back so much but the players either aren’t good enough to play in a 4 or are just not getting on board with Jimmys “vision” we lack physicality in midfield and our wingers have stopped trying to get past full backs and getting to the bye line- no surprise Lazetic and Nisbet are both struggling whatever formation we play, we seem disorganised in the middle and more concerned about maintaining shape than pressing, harrying and getting in the faces of our opposition- we seemed to do this better at the start of last season, but could never do it for a full game- not sure if stamina is an issue. Another break beckons but hopefully the players are not off for a weeks holiday and are actually trying to sort this on the training pitch

Some folk don’t think he is very good- I think he has been genuinely unlucky with injury and wouldn’t have been against him playing as defensive midfielder in front of the centre halfs. whether he is good enough or not we may never know, but wish him well in his recovery

Agree- we are creating very little - not sure why Clarkson isn’t getting a look in but we are crying out for something going forward we also are brilliant at marking space but Motherwell just pass it around us Not sure if this is to do with the 3/5 in defence we resorted to after losing so many games that we are overrun in midfield but we are so easy to play through

You would be raging about that in an under 11s game- so fucking bad. Players shouldn’t need to be told to be aware of that

Gyamfi was so lucky there not to get sent off rhought he would make us stronger but not today

Lobban, Polvara possibly the only 2 that are actually looking to be positive- miles off it. Gyamfi will be lucky to last the game - has been very poor poor miss from Lazetic we can only get better?
