Oh my God!!!! This is a shocking signing and I just can't understand why. He was shocking first time around and considering he has just been freed by Partick Thistle, it just makes the signing even more bizarre. Is someone on his way?

Albeit Dempsey was reported to be on fairly modest wages, perhaps it frees a little more cash to be looking at the transfer market again? Thoughts?

Why does everyone regard Hignett as a bad signing? We got him on a free and sold him 6 months later for 800,000.... OK, fair enough he was on a decent wage, but I would still regard that as a fairly decent deal for us.

Exactly my thinking....but that seems to be the craic....

....that Russell's 1 million is to go towards the playing pool and new contracts.... Apparently it is NOT going to be going towards servicing the debt.... It may mean that another couple of players may yet arrive, and the rest of the pool may be able to be kept together.

Severin as vice captain will get the nod. With the extra responsibility, it may just bring out the best in him....

It can create such a bad knock - on effect.... The supporters will be down for the start of the season, and with the club captain gone, it could make it more difficult for guys like Severin to be persuaded to stay. Whether McNamara is better than Hart is not the important thing. It is a squad game and to have both gives Jimmy options and remember that McNamara can operate both on the left and right. Last season we had a settled squad, and we can all just hope that we do not start to see it being dismantled one by one, despite the money being accumulated.

It does seem to be quite a strong rumour that Hart is for the off....

How long has Michael Hart's contract to run?

Has it not been the case that for years Aberdeen have been undervaluing players? Motherwell, Hibs and several other clubs have managed to squeeze huge sums of money out of clubs for players certainly not in the class of Russell Anderson. Why is this? Surely another problem is that the board wait until a player is within a year of their contract ending. It means that in six months time the player can start talking to other clubs. why are contract discussions not being put in place perhaps 2 years before the contract ends? Thus, if a player wants to go, players can be found to play in the position, and the player in dispute can be sold for a decent amount of cash.

Alright, fair enough, only russell has gone so far, but it ceratinly seems that the club is prepared to let players go for a sniff of some cash....it could yet be the start of some major blood letting down pittodrie way....

Being rumoured on Aberdeen-mad that Cardiff are about to launch a 700,000 quid bid for Michael Hart. Anyone getting a bit uneasy about all of this?

....that Russell is away to sunderland for 1 million quid. Not nearly enough money for me.... Sad day for the Dons - Russell has been a great captain and servant. Although I'm sad to see him go, he goes with my best wishes.

Nothing will happen until either Langfield or another squad member moves. Jimmy has already said that there is no money left for wages until someone has moved on. It's a non-starter until someone goes.

With the new signings coming into the squad, I would hazard a guess that this is probably the strongest squad that we have had for many years going into the start of any season. Let's just hope that the squad does stay intact....
