  1. Really embarrassing. I hoped that the run of bad results we had since coming back from the international break was a blip and we would get back to the races and have an OK season. But where do we go from here? Confidence will be shot again and we don't seem to be able to defend. Is this a sackable result? We don't seem any better then last year under glass and we've spent a decent wedge of money.

  2. I think we have a better team than Hearts on our day. I think they just have a consistency that we haven't found yet. I do have a feeling that this is going to be a tough game coming so soon after the semi-final. Would be happy enough with a draw down there, but hope we can sneak a win. They seem to be having injury issues at the back aswell so hopefully it's a more open game than you would usually expect from playing them.

I have a feeling regardless we are not going to overtake them this season. We are too inconsistent and if we were going to get third we needed to capitalise on them playing in Europe every midweek up to Xmas and build a lead. The fact we havent done that at this stage makes me think we won't.

Prediction 2-2 Miovski Double after getting back in amongst the goals yesterday.

  3. Already questions about whether Stewart has what it takes to be captain before the game. Listening on the radio so I've not seen it but sounds like he lost his composure which is not what you expect from the captain.

If we were to somehow get through who's playing center back for the final. No Stewart or Scales.

  4. Apparently this period doesn't include the sales of Ferguson & Ramsay. However if we need to sell players at this value every season just to balance the books that is concerning. I do think its good to have ambition but even now that we are doing better this season it feels like we should be doing better with this sort of expenditure.

  5. As I get older Ive learned that to enjoy being a football supporter of a team that doesn't regularly win you have to not take it too seriously. Enjoy the days we win and don't let it get you down too much when we don't.

Nothing wrong with having a break now and again, pursuing other interests. If it's getting you down its probably the best thing you can do. But if your anything like most of us you'll be back soon enough. 😉

  6. Thing about VAR is it will never clear up the 50:50 decisions. But it will sort the decisions which are clear and obvious.

People get upset with it because you can no longer look at it from the point of veiw that "the ref must have thought he seen something different". Its just one of these things that in a contact sport its very hard to 100% pin down what is and isnt a foul.

Fucking right it was criminal. I don't understand why he is ahead of Duncan in the pecking order whom was excellent when he came on.

Sunk cost fallacy. We paid a bit of money for him so I get that we are trying to give him a shot but your right it can't be at the expense of Duncan.

The ones i'm most disappointed by are Besuijen and Richardson tbh.  I'm not sure Besuijen has what it takes.  It's certainly not skill as he has it, but seems to just not produce it consistently enough, nor make the right decisions

Regarding Besuijen he's still fairly young though. The fact it's just consistency and good decision making he lacks gives me hope that with more game time he will get there.

  9. Cheers Manc!

Rico might be right about Scales not having the best positioning. I wonder though if the referee goes to the pitch side monitor to examine that with VAR does he make that decision? Its a game defining moment and there is not really anything concrete there for me.

I think Duk can play alongside both Miovski and Ramirez rather than instead of. I think we need two up front against teams that try and play us on the counter and sit deep. Miovski has looked a little stranded on his own against eleven.

Absolutely, we need to have a plan b if it's not working. I think a lot of teams are going to sit in and try to frustrate us this year. We will need a physical player up top now and again and Ramirez and Duk both seem capable in that regard.

    It's simple economics The D.O.C.1903.

If the Dons let you in for £12 less then they would be worse off by let's say £120,000 per game x 19 games a season which is a loss in income of £2.3M a year.  You could kiss goodbye to signing anyone decent with that financial plan.

That said there is an argument that having cheaper tickets would bring in more fans thus offsetting that loss. More fans through the gate also means more pies and drinks sold and higher fan engagment can also translate to extra sales of merchandise and safeguard the clubs future. I bet there is a lot of folk out there who would love to go to more games but can't afford to or can't justify the cost.

  12. Agree that the Miovski goal looked very tight hopefully the introduction of VAR includes the installation of a few more cameras around the grounds as the shots we have for this one are completely inconclusive. St Johnstone have been tough to break down for a good while, so a one nil and a couple of chances away from home is fine with me. I do agree that Goodwin is being stubborn in trying to put his mark on this team. I think from what I've seen of Roos he is worse than Joe Lewis but I feel Lewis is suffering simply from being one of the old guard. Still feel Ramirez is on the way out and that obviously contributes to the reluctance to give him minutes.

  13. Just watched the highlights. Miovski really should have hit the net when one on one with there keeper, but to be fair he made up for it with his goal. There second goal I don't understand why we don't have anyone protecting the keeper, the third we shouldn't let them take it down in our half like that. Good thing is these are simple things that may just be down to the team not having time to gel. Not having been at the game today I can't really comment on the rest of the performance.

Speculating further, Barron may be the leverage to sign scales

I hope we have told Celtic to shove it in this case. Scales is surplus to requirements at Celtic whereas Barron is a great prospect who is going to be a key part of our team. If they want to chuck us 3 million and Scales then sure but we better not let him go on the cheap to get Scales in.

Dundee United have "pipped" Aberdeen to Jamie McGrath, it seems.

Genuinely not arsed on account it was a loan deal, which would have been our third.

Although I will be arsed if we don't sign Connor Ronan or someone as good as him.

If true its a loan could be the reason why were missing out. He would probably have to take a pay cut to come to us. We need to build for the future so I think as little loans as possible is the correct approach.

Interestingly we still have a fair few Mcinnes players  left in the first team squad now.

    Mcrorie

    Hayes

    Lewis

    Ferguson

    Mackenzie

    Can we include barron?

I know technically they may have got there first games under McInnes but I wouldn't count Mackenzie or Barron as McInnes players.

  18. Certainly seems like the wheels are coming off for Scotland at the moment. Just the manner of the defeats is what is really discouraging. Ireland were there for the taking and 3-0 probably does flatter them but we didnt look like doing anything ourselves. Need to take a bit of time to reflect but not feeling particularily positive about the national side.

I would have thought the chance of a big sell on from Liverpool will be slimmer that Forest selling on McKenna too.

If the club has any sense we will have structured the deal based on getting bonuses when he makes a certain number of appearances, international recognition etc.

I agree that unless he's that good that Real Madrid come along in a few years time its unlikely a sell on fee will be substantial. He will either be good enough to stay at Liverpool for most of his career or he will flop and get transferred to a championship club at a cut price deal.
