  1. Rico I agree with what your saying. It just doesn't seem like there is enough of an appetite for change at the moment. I'm sure plenty of people don't go to games for the very reason that football is a business rather than a sport. But as long as a reasonable amount of people continue supporting the current setup I dont see any reason why it would change. Hence why I say its a conundrum, you want to support a team then you are also supporting the current setup.

  2. It's one of the conundrums of supporting a football team nowadays though. I don't speak to many people who don't agree with the sentiment that money has ruined football. And yet if your a supporter you know that the only way for your team to get any level of success is to make lots of money. What is achievable for a team like Aberdeen? Maybe if we get into the europa league on a regular basis we would make enough money that we might be able to challenge the old firm. There is no other way, it's all about the money nowadays. If you want to support your team you just have to accept this unfortunately.

On the subject of LCBs by the way, latest rumour is Celtic want Scott McKenna...

Sounds like a rumor in the same vein as the one that Kieren Tierney would be going back to them. Scott Mckenna starts every week for a pl team when fit. Generally that means his value is £20 million+ at his age and there is no way Celtic will pay that for him.

I'll reserve 60, even though I get to retain this thing if nobody gets it correct. Is this going on 5 seasons now?

So the chat is we're trying to get Liam Scales back on loan, because we've been priced out of a permanent transfer by Celtic.

Clever by Aberdeen I'd say. Don't pay over the odds if you don't have to. He clearly doesn't have a future at Celtic and no-one is going to pay an inflated fee for him.

Yeah I agree. He came ok towards the end of last season but he wasnt good enough to merit a large fee. If it were not for the fact that hes a known quantity of a reasonable standard (and maybe also because he's left footed) I wouldn't even be interested in having him back.

  6. I agree, he's clearly never going to reach the levels he did previously. He's been unlucky in an achievement sense that he came up against some great players in Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. It's clear he would have won much more if not for them (how many finals has he lost to Djokovic alone?). But if anything that makes the slams hes won all the more impressive.

  7. Think Joe suffered from the fact the game relies more and more on having ball playing keeper. He was an excellent shot stopper and I believe if it wasn't for the tactical changes that have happened over the last five years he would have been here a good bit longer. Sad for him as I think he really gave his all and was a great servant. I always remember reading that he was content here as he wanted to win silverware so it's shame he didn't manage to achieve this.

  8. Worst thing about the run of games against the Glasgow and Edinburgh teams is the potential to have a few bad results in a row and lose confidence. Obviously hope we can take something against all of them but if you don't it can be hard to get things back on track.

Looks like we've told him to ram it and withdrawn the offer.

Interestingly and rightly or wrongly it further states we have another target lined up and hope to have the deal over the line in next couple of days 🤔

It's good to see we have other targets and we are willing to move on. Pretty sure this has messed us up in the past holding out for players who aren't really interested in coming. With the fact we have a europa league qualifier way before the close of the window we need people who want to join now.

Stupid Euro Nations finals last week, you know, the one they just won?

It's funny how ive heard a few people expressing the opinion Spain aren't that great anymore. Yet they just went and won the nations league. Now granted its not as coveted a competition as most and I accept that Spain aren't the team they were 10 years ago, but are we downplaying how good a team we have become too much? I hope so...

  11. Yeah I think likely one more victory would do it. If we were to beat Cyprus you would need either Norway or Georgia to win all there remaining fixtures to have a chance to overtake us. They both have to play Spain and ourselves so I feel that's unlikely. Would be nice to keep the form going to rack up ranking points and see if we can top the group of course.

Some sources saying Clarkson is coming back to us instead of Reading

Although their source is the Record 🤔

I know reading probably have deeper pockets than us but they are playing in league 1 not the championship. Got to imagine we have a good chance of bringing him in as european football up here must be a bit more appealing. Fingers crossed.

Supporting a football team is not a part-time hobby.

I disagree with this. I think you would find for most people (season ticket holders included) it is a part time hobby. Some fans will follow the team all around the country and beyond but a lot turn up at Pittodrie every two weeks or less (myself included) and entertain themselves in other ways the rest of the time.

Loyalty is a difficult metric for the club to measure outwith sales and I get your frustrations as it sounds like you go to great lengths to support the team. However everyone has their own reasons and opinions on how much time and effort they invest in supporting the club, and I don't think it's fair to make a judgement on that.

That’s EFL put Wigan under a transfer embargo. Going to make getting Shinnie signed more difficult.

I saw a suggestion this morning that he can terminate his final years contract due to none payment of wages. If its a matter of compensating him for that hopefully we can just offer him a decent sign on fee to cover it. We were likely going to have to pay Wigan something anyway. It would be a bit of a nightmare to miss out on him so hopefully the club are exploring all options.

  15. He's obviously done very well but I would also be underwhelmed at signing him. I think if we had been in the bottom six there is a good chance Duk and Miovski would have added more to there seasons tally. I've seen it too many times where we see a player scoring goals for other teams and we sign them and they just don't replicate it for us. Being that he's 32 which is not exactly in his prime makes it a no go for me.

Shocking tackle on Miovski. Hoping it’s actually an ankle break as they fuse and heal stronger as compared to ligaments which can take longer. Straight red that makes a farce of refereeing and var yet again, plus really st mirren should have been down to nine if the ref applies the rules.

Completely agree that the tackle was terrible, but I can't see your point about refereeing and VAR. The referee misjudged it in real time and VAR gave him the opportunity to have another look. I think it was applied perfectly here.

Anyway hopefully it looks a lot worse than it is and there's a chance he could be back for the start of the new season.

  17. Absolutely massive game. I actually expected there was a good chance to be in this situation when the top 6 fixtures were announced. Only thing I didnt call was that Hearts and ourselves would draw against Hibs and St.Mirren respectively, I expected victories for both. We have a great opportunity here as it will be a tough game for Hearts going to Ibrox so hopefully victory here would seal third.
