In fairness, tonight's game was just a kick about for a laugh. We even got to play that lad up front in the first half that won the charity raffle.

I doubt the money men see it that way. 430k more for a win then a draw and we've not managed a single one.

  2. Tbf I think we started the season really well under Goodwin if my memory is correct. It was around this time it all started going downhill. So that's the context here. In my opinion some of the mitigating factors arethere have been some really difficult fixtures in between our European games. After tomorrow we will have played the both Rangers and Celtic twice in the league while most of our rivals have only done so once. We have a cup final to come and turned over about 50% of our squad during the summer. I think Robsons position depends on where we are come January now and we could go either way as I see it at the moment.

Our two games against PAOK reminded me of Dundee United drawing 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford and losing 3-2 at Tannadice in Europe.

I think I'm right in saying that.

Be nice just to finish off with at least a draw in Helsinki as Eintracht Frankfurt at Pittodrie will now be a dead rubber because they're through to knockout stages and we'll rest most of the first XI for the Cup Final three days later correct?

Think its important to try and get a result in the Helisinki game to boost our coefficient. I would understand taking the cup final more seriously then the frankfurt game but if we can get something again its more coefficeint points.

  4. They really are a bunch of classless wanks, from the BBC:

In response, PAOK described the complaint as "clearly a product of imagination, as it did not come to the attention of any official".

They said there has "never been racist behaviour" in their stadium and it "would not be tolerated anyway".

They also criticised "the defiant behaviour of the Aberdeen substitutes in their equaliser" and praised the home fans for not reacting.

While obviously a good side it would have been really sweet to have beaten them at pittodrie with the amount of shite they have been spewing since.

I'd love to see the club be a bit more forceful here. Put out a statement advising fans not to buy until the opportunity of parity is offered.

If we didn't buy they would just re-allocate the tickets to Rangers fans. They know what they are doing and Rangers have more fans there because they want to give them more tickets. They just came up with a justification to dress it up.

I fully expect Rangers to get the majority of the tickets but hopefully we'll at least push strongly for a 50/50 split. The whole average crowd/how many you sold for the semi, is irrelevant. Cup final, both teams are meant to have the same chance - same number of players, same numbers backing them.

It's really galling that the SFA try to justify decreasing our allocation on the basis of how many semi tickets we sold. Especially when you consider the travel involved for our fans to get down to hampden for the semi. Rangers will likely always have a bigger support then us but I would argue that a lot of them wouldn't turn out week in week out either if they were in our position. Its just another factor that entrenches the status quo in football.

Who said they didn't check the penalty? Sounds like bollocks to me. They check everything. They might not have immediately stopped play, but they will have checked it. Regardless, you're only highlighting what everyone (including you I'm sure) said prior to VAR coming in , that you can't define what a clear and obvious error is, so it simply moves the point of controversy. It should be consigned to the bin, it doesn't work and has never worked in any football setting at any point. The evidence was in way before we deployed it in Scotland.

It didn't seem as though it was checked. Usually when the play has stopped which it had the ref will stop the game for a moment to allow the VAR check to happen. It's what happened for the PAOK check. The BBC team were also reporting that they understood it had not been checked.

  8. I do hope that privately Robson has the introspection to realise he fucked up tonight. Nothing wrong with making changes but bringing 3 subs on at once was baffling. If he spreads them out 1 by 1 it also has the advantage of slowing the game down which is what you want when 2 goals to the good.

  9. Probably need to be taking the 3 points here if we are to have any chance of making it through the group. I actually thought PAOK beating frankfurt was a worse result for us than drawing against HJK. If nothing else need to get a few results in to improve our seeding for next season.

I'll be positive and say 2-1 us Miovski double.

  10. Well that was a bit disappointing in the end. I thought we were building up a nice head of steam until Duk took that elbow to the head. The guy getting away with that was baffling, but ultimately I feel a bit like I did against Hacken in that we probably had the quality to beat them but couldn't make it click.

Absolutely, but that doesn't excuse basic organisational errors and a complete inability to change them. Unless we get Baccus (or similar) in too, we simply don't have a midfield that fits the system that Robson wants to play, which he seems not to have noticed.

I tend to agree that reinforcements would be nice. As I said above I think we've missed Ramadani in there. That said I do think it will improve as the team play together and gain a bit more coherentcy. Three players that started tonight have barely been in the door for more than a week, so I do think there's some excusing the errors. We weren't terrible tonight and I think Hacken (with Sadiq) where a fair match for us. We just weren't clinical enough for me.

The tie was a month too early really. I think Robson will sort the defence the same way he did last season, and our strikers - especially the quality of Miovski and Duk - won't miss those chances all season.

l'm not worried though. The first eleven is okay, few players can and will improve, and we'll be alright this season.

Also something that nobody seems to have mentioned is that hacken are half way through there season. We are half way through a squad rebuild and few players are definately a bit off the pace. At least there no chance of us losing Duk or Miovski tomorrow based on scouts watching tonight.

  13. It was a pretty even game in the end. I think if we took either the Duk or Miovski chance the momentum swings in our favor. Ruby didn't fill me with confidence but he was left horribly exposed at times. I actually wonder if the main miss was Ramadani tonight tracking back and breaking up play. I think the team has a lot of potential so hopefully coherency will come in time. Notice Robsons post match comments suggesting we may not be seeing any more transfer activity, not sure how I feel about that to be honest. Squad is still pretty threadbare but we all want to see some youngsters getting into the team and maybe this is there chance.

I've had the fear ever since the jungle drums started talking about  Pape Habib Gueye.  It is either someone is getting sold or bavidge is going on loan..

Tbh would be good for Bavidge to get out on loan. As much as we will need to do some rotating of the squad having 3-4 senior strikers in front of him means his playing time is likely limited.

  15. Really means we have to take our chance to start building our own coefficient so we are seeded for these games. Hopefully all scottish clubs do a bit better in Europe this season but its tough if Rangers and Celtic end up in the champions league. Realistically they can't compete with teams at that level.
