Dundee v Aberdeen

Aberdeen make the trip down the road to Dundee to take on the city's most successful club at Dens Park. It's a 3 pm kick-off on Saturday 8th August.

I think we need to improve a lot after last Saturday's win over Hearts, and I think Robinson will have the team knocked into shape during the week, so I fancy a 1-0 away win.

Only 2 games in but what i have seen is as entirely as i have predicted. None of these signings are good enough. I didn't want Robinson in the first place and if we don't progress in the league cup an

Holy Fuck - this is painful 2-0 ☹️

Can we pick up Bevin and give them Yogane? Seems we signed the wrong winger.

How do Dundee end up with a Bevin and we have a shower of complete and utter dross. No exaggeration. Rotten.

Agree!!

Keeper should be saving that.

Was it Bevin’s granda who founded the NHS!? Our team certainly needs life-saving surgery!

In the future, this game will be studied by philosophy students as a working example of Triggers Broom: "if you replace every part of the team with mediocrity, is it still truly Aberdeen FC?"

Can we have the new St Mirren manager? He is already a better prospect than their old one.

Great goal-saving defensive tackle by Olusanya on Mouloua.

It’s actually the opposite, we’ve replaced all the parts but it’s still the same broom!

The skills level in this team is absolutely bloody atrocious.

Obi Wan and Cadden are definitely downgrades on what we had.

The good news is that it's over.

The bad news is that we have to play them again next week.

You would have thought after the daylight robbery last week that we would have got some confidence and been a bit more up for it but this is the lamest roll over that we could come up with. On another day we ship seven. No worries though we have brought another diddy in to add to our diddy quota so we can get rid of some of the diddies from last season. Cormack has shafted this club good and proper.

Really poor. This is not helping to dispel my concern we are aspiring to be the best St Mirren in the league.

Turns out we are the 2nd best St Mirren in the league.

Second best from the off today.

They fought for it more and fully deserved their victory.

Need to play a lot better in cup game because they will fancy their chances after today's efforts

It's going to be another grim season.

Just listened to it on the radio, sounded bad, but probably to be expected. I was worried about Aremu last season, and it's clear he's not going to be good enough to be a starter. We're making the same mistakes in midfield as we did last season by signing players who are quite similar and don't work together. Briedl is a terrible signing when you have Armstrong and Marshall, and we're regularly going to have to play them together. Lyons the correct profile, but the point in signing a lower SPFL player is that you sign someone to do the same role, but better, so Lyons becomes the solid backup if the signing doesn't work. Already Lyons has to be first choice, but is bang average. The two fullbacks look to be wing backs in a five, but we're playing a four. Yogane isn't good enough and Smith is probably a central player.

Either sign a proper midfielder with legs and ball winning capabilities, or switch to a 3-5-2.

There was not one redeeming feature on the park today. No one gave me hope that we will improve. I barely know any of their names anyway and I don't really want to if that is the kind of performances that they think is acceptable. I thought the point was to get better players in but we have somehow failed miserably when it was next to impossible to do so. Also does anyone actually listen to the commentary on redtv? Silence would be infinitely better.

We've gone from signing project players who fail to deliver on their potential, to bang-average players who simply fail to deliver.

If this is the plan to "stabilise" the club, then we can write off this season and start hoping we get the exciting players in next year.

Worrying for me is that today’s midfield was no better than last years midfield. I think Ronan and Lyons are good signings, and I think aremu is decent, but concerned briedl is the new palaversa, and neither wide player looks an upgrade on what we’ve had in recent seasons. A good midfield make your defense look better and creates chances plus scores goals. A bad midfield gives what we got today.

Well that was everything I expected and less.

Subjected a 15 year old Nottingham Forest fan to that too. His comment 'this is like when Ange was our Manager' was too kind.

Hes adopted partick thistle as his scottish Team. They have less misery

Glad I was at stenny today. Heard bbc on way home and they weren't kind.

That was worse than anything under Thelin. Abysmal from start to finish. Long balls into corners seemed to be our only attacking plan. Aremu and Briedl were complety over run in midfield. Cadden and Guinness Walker were roasted by a Dundee’s wingers while ours offered nothing. Cannot say I will be rushing back to watch that again.
