No idea how Senegal managed to lose this. They were comfortably winning the game with 5 minutes to go. Belgium through somehow.

Just watched the highlights of the Portugal v Croatia game. Some game it seems. Two very, very dodgy calls from VAR. The first is a very soft pen. The second is just guesswork. Clear and obvious guesswork. Shambles. Probably had directives from the advertisers to keep Ronaldo in at all costs. Some good stuff from both teams, and extra time would have been interesting.

Penalty was definitely on the soft side but seen them given. The goal that was chopped off in injury time was a farce. Even in slow motion you cannot definitively see a touch so not clear and obvious error and no way VAR should have got involved.

VAR was introduced so that no team would ever get knocked out of a tournament (or prevented from going to one) by terrible refereeing decisions. It's good that it's gone full circle and is now in charge of all terrible decisions. Agree about the pen, although they've correctly been ignoring those all tournament, which has been refreshing to watch. It wasn't clear and obvious either, but subjective.
