Aberdeen v Falkirk

Sadly, we have another game this Saturday 14th March at 3:00 pm. The Bairns of Falkirk are coming up to get their three points.

I fancy a routine 3-0 win for the visitors.

Kincorth.  It's not about loving him, it's about understanding his position and is obvious limitations.

He'll be the only one on the pitch if he's playing on Sunday.

I don’t buy this. Who in their right mind takes a managers job knowing he doesn’t pick the team. Youve got nothing to gain there, and let’s just say you do well and are up for a future head coaches jo

We've stopped Falkirk playing, which might seem negative but in our current state is what we need to do. Their only threat is shots from the edge of the box, but generally we're defending in numbers, have defended set pieces well, and haven't been opened up on the break which we often have been this season.

Going forward, Lazetic is working his socks off but nothing happening for him. We've not really got Nisbet into the game.

But, this is like an Aberdeen-St Mirren game, but in this instance we're St Mirren/Falkirk, where we'd be struggling to break down the opposition before being hit with a sucker punch.

Sluggish game so far but agree with Panda stopping them play was priority no1 given the context of both clubs season.  Lazetic starting raised an eyebrow but he's done OK so far.

I'd take off Morrison and put on Nelson. He can step into the midfield and give us a bit more control in there. We just look a little short in the middle at times.

Geiger the new Lee Richardson in that he's being targeted by the referees? He's getting thumped about that midfield and not getting any free-kicks.

Palaversa on ... why???? 😮

Slate wiped clean for all.

Can we please learn to take a fucking corner that heats the first man. It's fundamental guys

It's taken me to the 70th minute to notice Falkirk don't have any shirt sponsors, which is unusual.

Subs: Looks like Robinson wanted more energy, but it's come at the cost of any creativity.

YYYAAAAAAASSSSS!!!!!   .... Hahahahaha!! ... Nisbet ... 1-0

About time someone gifted us rather than the other way around.

Scrappy goal but I will take it. Don't care that it has not been a great watch. Phase one was clearly get points to avoid the relegation dog fight

Boy is our defence poor.

Aw for FUCK SAKE!! :(

A point closer to safety which is better than this team deserve. Not one of our central defenders today should be a first choice pick. Ever.

Well, if phase one involves making us harder to beat, then that was achieved today.

Soft centre exposed YET AGAIN though. Molloy wasn’t bad overall, but that goal showed why he just won’t do - he’s just not big, strong or physical enough to be a centre half in this league.

Geiger’s best performance, energetic, got about the park, moved the ball well.

Mitov was better, as was Morrison. Well done Nisbet for the goal, forced that out of nothing. A mistake like that was always likely to be the only way we’d score as we created little again.

Cameron & Palaversa were honking when they came on mind, didn’t help at all.

Draw probs fair, we’re just not a good team. Shithouse it until the end of the season, stay up, then clear out the squad and start again - again…

Listening on Radio Scotland to after match open all mics and the dinosaur known as Packy Bonnar asks if Robinson's goal is to avoid the play off place or achieve top six.

How the fuck does the licence fee go to pay folk like this who literally have no knowledge of Scottish football outside the arse cheeks.

Guess I would have taken a point pre match and still probably would have until the point of going ahead

Ended up feeling like two points dropped

It was two points dropped in the end.

Seeing out a game like that from 85 minutes on is basic football 101.

You can’t rely on those CH’s though, not ever…

1 point out of 9 against Falkirk.....Progress

Yep - the league doesn’t lie. They are a better team than us currently.

Another damning indictment of the football operation of recent times…

We paid Aberdeen prices for bottom 6 players. Recruitment team really let us down. I think the effort was there but some of them are just not Aberdeen quality

Most of them are just not Aberdeen quality…

Milne is in the same situation as Malloy, in the lead up to the goal he chickened out of a challenge in the air.  He's also an accident waiting to happen when he has the ball at his feet - nearly gave away a goal in the first half and sold Lobban a hospital pass in the second.

Agree about Cameron and Palaversa and you could add in Armstrong.

Yep agreed - Milne’s not anywhere near good enough either. Unlike Molloy he’s got the size, but he lacks aggression & physicality and he’s frankly shite in the air.

I do feel for him a bit, as it’s the club that’s tried to turn him into a CH, and while he has the physical attributes he lacks the mental and technical ones.

I assume Robinson knows this too and come the summer we’ll see at least 2 new CH’s coming in (assuming Tobers gets fit and Knoester is retained)

I’d absolutely love Pollock to be one of them. Everything we need back there that boy…

I'd like to see that one back. At the game it looked like Graham threw himself into Milne as he was about to jump, with no attempt to play the ball.

Anyway, it wasn't a beautiful game today by any stretch. Robinson has clearly put the brakes on any attempt to play football, which is completely fine given the circumstances. No short balls from the keeper, very little through midfield and relying on the forwards with the midfield winning second balls. All fine at this stage, although I can't help but think that our last 4-5 managers haven't been given that freedom, with the insistence from within the club that they have to play "entertaining football" (which apparently translates to passing it until we lose possession). A bit of pragmatism was, and is, required.

Thought Lobban really struggled today and probably shouldn't have started. A lot of okay performances, with nobody standing out. Lazetic wasn't absolutely terrible, but wasn't great and I'm surprised that Jensen and Olusanya didn't appear at half time. Geiger was okay too, but should have been off a bit earlier, as I don't like to see guys like Nilsen (or Shinnie) getting ten minutes as it often takes them that to get going. Really difficult to say much more than that we were okay. A draw a fair result, and a really good cross and header for their goal, albeit one from which we had plenty of opportunities to close down and deal with.
