Like it or lump, we're winning more than we're losing now so any expectation that the system will change is very misplaced. I guess it's how this system might evolve then. How does it move from cagey, luck-riding, low chance creating, 1-0 wins, to something exciting? Or more exciting, at least. McInnes played a 3-4-3 for a bit, with Watkins, Hedges and some other cunt leading the line, and it was the most entertaining he had been for a few years. It's often a setup that trades excitement for pragmatism though, which isn't the club's strategy, so one way or another Thelin will have to change. Personally, I'm happy enough with short term pragmatism until the personnel are in place, however I'm not sure that we'll ever really get the personnel to perform a 3-4-3 consistently well in our league. I think you could get that with a 3-5-2, or derivative of that setup. 3 Quote
Ajjadeen Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago When I’m in my rational brain, not easy with Aberdeen FC, it feels like we will be in attrition mode through to the turn of the year. Volume of games, rotations of squad with Europe etc and too many players playing out of position it’s not going to be free flowing and pretty but points on the board and being in the mix will be priority. We made 5 changes on Sunday and had played midweek so it was never going to be swashbuckling. It’s a hard watch though. Lots of hope pinned on Pingu’s black book Quote

Lots of hope pinned on Pingu’s black book Surely it’s more the contacts in your two heads of recruitment’s black books we are going to be relying on not the DoF’s book of penguin pick up joints. Yeah think I have sort of accepted we are just going to have to shitfest our way to January with squad deficiencies we have. In January we need to get in players in to allow us to create more chances and be a bit easier on the eye. Quote
Ajjadeen Posted 7 hours ago Report Posted 7 hours ago Agree on recruitment structures but his contacts book has been much lauded, we would be foolish not to lean into it. Out with the Scandi Dandies and in with the Deutsche Dons. Quote

So hopefully January but it likely won’t be great until the summer at the earliest. Pragmatic results beat sacrificing points for pretty passes. 2 Quote

manc_don Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Surprised that Milanovic has dropped out completely, but I guess he’s got to make room for nilsen somewhere…guessing we won’t see Bilalovic with that bench tonight? Quote
RicoS321 Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago I wonder if we'll see Karlsson on much quicker than our subs have been being made of late? I'm surprised (and pleased) he's not starting, but wouldn't be surprised to see him on at halftime, despite other players not being afforded that in recent games. Quote
Don Julio Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Got away with one there, as Fraser Fyvie says! Quote
redordead Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Mitov is a disaster in that box. I've seen half a dozen better keepers in the first division. Quote
Jute Posted 2 hours ago Report Posted 2 hours ago Probably lucky to be 0-0. Think Mitov got away with one there. Quote
Jormungandr Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Bear in mind that I have exceptionally low standards for this team, but I'm not unhappy with that. Main thing being we've actually created some chances. I'm liking that Knoester is coming forward wi the ba, letting us actually develop things down the left. Keskinen hitting the post & Nisbet missing a sitter, but obviously very fortunate their goal was ruled out for the slightest nudge on the keeper. Lazetic & Karlsson on sooner rather than later. Quote
Nordicus Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago they should've been ahead , would've been undeserved though I guess we are frustrating to watch some good play and some times caught in possession or not delivering the pass ahead of time with some anticipation Quote
The.Moog Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Better first half than many we’ve seen, & created a few good chances. Mitov totally dodged a bullet there. See these high balls in the box min - just fuckin punch it clear eh. We need to build our attacks much more down the right as the left is way too much of a bottleneck with not one player on that side able to hit the byline. Lobban is offering much more attacking threat down the right - use it. Lets see what the second half brings - given its AFC, fuck knows what we’ll get tbh… Quote
Elgindon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Doing ok,nothing spectacular. Maybe need Karlsson on to wriggle thru their defence.Lazetic later for a cross ball and to rummel them up a bit Quote
Jormungandr Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Outrageous penalty decision. Well, there's got to be a big reaction now. Quote
The.Moog Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Its not a pen, just ridiculous, but YET AGAIN, our complete inability to just get a fuckin head on the ball and clear our lines from a simple ball into the box bites us on the arse. Honestly, its embarrassing how weak we are at set pieces at the back… Quote
OxfordDon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Another reminder that VAR is just a Scottish referee with a mouse. Quote
OxfordDon Posted 1 hour ago Report Posted 1 hour ago Don't get too excited - we haven't had VAR chip in yet. Quote
