This has come as second hand information to myself but from a very reliable source from Pittodrie (member of playing staff).

 

The rumour floating around about Jackie McNamara quitting is apparently true. JC tried to force him to train with the under 19's And Jackie Mac took a big exception to this. Basically told Calderwood to fuck off & to not treat him like that. Things took a nasty turn & Jackie claimed the club was a shambles, the worst he had been at & ripped his contract up in front of Calderwood. JC has since came out praising McNamara & saying how his experience is vital which the players believe is to save face incase the story comes out (i.e how could he have disrespected McNamara when he says nothing but good things about him).

 

Derek Soutar also had an angry exchange with Calderwood which led to him being told by Calderwood in front of the rest of the team that he has no chance of getting a new contract offer. I haven't been told what this was about though.

 

Calderwood also had an angry exchange with pretty much the whole first team squad, a lot of shouting etc and was told by the team he can't coach, his tactis are shit & his training is pathetic. We all know he takes exception to players speaking their mind about him so who knows what JC will decide to do. I have no idea if this has contributed to him fucking off to Holland or if he is genuinely scouting 'targets' and i'd also like to point out i'm not one for spreading rumours and the player would have no reason to lie to my source.

 

EDIT was also told that the players have lost confidence in JC but know after the season we've had (i.e european run & securing top 6) there is no way he could be sacked and that the only way he could be forced out is through supporter unrest, but personally I don't think that could persuade him to leave (he's only here until he gets the call from down south) or Miller & Milne to decide his times up.

Speak to his family about what? Is he getting his salary while he's having a chat to the wife instead of doing what he's paid for?

Sounds very much like there may be something too this anyway, suddenly dropped, ran off home to talk to his family, meeting with JC on monday.... wouldnt be happening if everything was ok!

Hope it's true.  I won't be sad to say cheerio to McNamara.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn out for one of the Edinburgh Outfits next season (an no-doubt play well and score against us!! )

That was my first thought re: contract.

 

I thought that also. I have a contract with my current employer. Be fucked if I can remember where it is, nevermind carrying it around so that I can rip it up at a convenient moment.

i thought "ripping up a contract" was just a turn of phrase - although it probably will have had basis somewhere along the line.

Even if you did actually rip up a contract would it still be valid in Scotland?

I would've thought it wouldn't invalidate it as there'd be more than one copy though...who knows.

I think that if you'd 'ripped up a contract' i.e. breached the terms and conditions of the contract then you'd still be legally bound to the penalties or termination clauses that would be written into the contract.

 

Ripping up a contract doesn't terminate it I would say, it only terminates one copy of it. You'd have to actuall break the T&C's for there to be any penalties.

Will probably end up as part of Hibs or Pars coaching staff. If he wants to end on a high may try and help the pars get into the spl in player/coach role.

Your 'contract' or statement of terms and conditions as they are officially called is merely a written version of the 'contract' of employment you have with your employer. The real 'contract' is held by the fact that you receive payment for your 'work' on an ongoing basis. The details of your terms and conditions are what holds you or the company to certain aspects but as a general agreement its the taking wages for work that really constitutes the 'contract' not a piece of paper. Thus, tearing up a piece of paper has no effect whatsoever other than to send an emotional message to you employer that you are spitting the dummy.

I'm not at all surprised if this is true after hearing the Foster story.  Calderwood did what he had to do (ie fine him) or else lose the dressing room completely.

 

I did find the McNamara press story strange also, given he must surely drop to the bench after two utterly abysmal performances (Falkirk, QoS).

 

There is most definitely a rot in there and hopefully the freshening up of the squad in the summer will stop it.

There are still some big arses needed booted in there though, some folk in that squad actually think they can turn up and walk away without getting a sweat on.

 

They need to rediscover the fear of failure, they really think they are going to walk into a cushy contract with a "big team" when the reality, for almost every one of these useless cunts is far far far gloomier and anonymous.
