  1. I was there, 16yr old. The abiding memory was about 100 of us against the Main Stand Wall surrounded by the mounted police and a line of cops further up the road holding back a Baying Hun, seemed like there were thousands of them. Escort back to the station and up the road, 31 years ago. ffs.

    Ā

one of the huns fired a flare at us from the car park/gravel fitba park side of the road, miles to high, hit the wall of their main stand and went flying back into the hun hoards, nae luckĀ  . we then had a fun walk all the way back to queen st. was a fantastic day trip

  2. Chuffed itā€™s sold oot, should be a cracking atmosphere, jealous as fuck (nearly) i winna be there

    Ā

I had a sneaky master plan, flying to Croatia on the Sunday so i booked a hotel in Edinburgh for the sat night, Nice relaxed drive doon, check inn, few drinks and off to tynecastle, few more drinks, stay over and fly the next day, then the bastards changed it to the Sunday :(

    Ā

fall back plan now activated, a long liquid lunch in Edinburgh, and keep up to date with the game online while sitting in some sleepy wine bar :(

    Ā

  3. Anyone ever done the Eurotunnel in their car before? I believe you board at Folkstone and drive oot again near Calais but I can find surprisingly little online about it. Can't even see how long the crossing takes. The ferries are mental expensive so it looks like it's the tunnel or nothing.

    Ā

Do you stay seated in your car for the duration of the journey?

    Ā

Probably to late, ive done it a few years back, stayed in the car if I mind right.

    Ā

Im off to makarska in a fortnight,Ā  second year in a row going to Croatia, love it, red wine, great food and sun, hoping to take in a hadjuk game when we have a day oot in split

  4. think logans away , been great signing but this season his head been up his arse,Ā  wants go back south near his kid understand that.Ā  see chris Harvey saying were trying do a deal with May, might be shite.Ā  Ā  awa head down to gameĀ  soĀ  welĀ  kenĀ  by his reaction at the end game if he is Logan onĀ  his way.

    Ā

Aye, think this might be the last of Logan,Ā  surprisingly im nae that bothered,

  5. Stevie May is going somewhere.Ā  No way he's staying at Sheffield Wed given he's not even been in the squad thus far, including minor cup games.

    Ā

I would be disappointed if he did end up at the Huns.

    Ā

I hope Derek is just being coy.Ā  Rooney is superb but an injury to him and we're screwed.Ā  I don't think Shankland is quite ready for the first team and a move to ST Mirren on loan would benefit him.Ā  Goodwillie, well, he's in the team just now but I'm pretty surprised he's still here to be honest.Ā  From 1st Feb last season til the end of May, he only started two games (one of which was after Rooney had been sent on holiday) and he'd made limited sub appearances during that period too.

    Ā

He's had a couple of decent recent showings but he's still not adding goals and I'm far from convinced.Ā  Derek is giving him another chance and I really hope he repays the support he's received from the gaffer.Ā  I'd prefer we got another striker in though.

    Ā

Aye, the totally unfounded faith that i had re May coming to us has wanedĀ  :Ā  My waters are now telling me he is Hun bound. hes shite anyway.

    Ā

pretty disapointed if we are done, we seem to have a small squad and signing up Shinne last year seems a bit like getting your xmas pressies in June and fuck all at christmas.

    Ā

    Ā

is the Ex ICT boy Mckay not also being looked at by a few up here, cant say im his biggest fan but he does score a goal or two

  6. Last week Red tv stopped working for me on chrome (android tablet), as did bbc, bbc works using their app and I use dolphin to open Redtv, bit of a pain.

    Ā

Dont know if there is a red tv app?

  7. Whilst I don't think it's ever going to be an easy job the number of leaders in the squad has really helped his transition into the role imo

    Ā

Was thinking this the other week (or this is a deja vu/senile twat moment) but

    Reynolds

    Considine

    Flood

    Robson

    Jack

    Have all captained the Dons

    Ā

Id guess that Flood and Robson have maybe captained other teams as well, joots?

    Ā

DidĀ  Shinnie,Ā  Quinn and McLean ever captain Ict, county or saints? If so its like a team of captains,Ā  ive noticed Quinn in particular is very vocal.

    Ā

Jackers gave wee Johnny a right good cunting after the Kairat goal the other weekĀ  ;D

  8. No way. They'd all have to queue up for tickets rather than pay at the gate.

    Ā

my unsure if being sarcastic replyĀ  ;D

    Ā

if the sun is beating down (ok, a wee bit far fetched) and a 1000 extra folk did quite fancy taking in the silky red machine in action, i dare say a fair few would be put off at discovering the "not being able to just turn up on a whim and pay in" palavar.

    Ā

but they could go in the Dundee end, its doing PATGĀ  :-\

    Ā

blue joot at work rekons they might bring 1500 up, hopefully 13/14k of REDS and it would make for a very decent crowd

  9. Yup, clubs finally got Red TV spot on, I had it years ago when I was living in Germany and it was always failing, so I binned it. Just re subscribed this season and its been ace, haven't watched any live games on it yet though, I wouldn't mind them doing extended highlights of games, rather than just the goals or full game option at the moment,Ā  but thats just me nitpicking. I'd advise any Dandy to get on it, a fiver a month is well worth it

    Ā

    Ā

  10. i saw the mock up of pittodrie yesterday, i assumed it was a piss take, it wasnt very inspiring anyway, if they had filled in the corners it would have been spot on though

    Ā

im always struck by the "not enough room" argument, Athletico Madrids main stand was built over a bloody 6 lane motorway, weve only got pittodrie st to contend with, if the soother was built steeper with two tears i doubt it would need much more room, although there seems to be quite a bit behind it anyway, same with the merkie and join them all together.

    Ā

unfortuantly i can see the "to expensive" argument, but id love to stay at Pittodrie.

    Ā

Dreading any "out of town" move tbh, football for me is all about the day, meeting mates, a drink or two in town, some scoff, a wee wander along the road, watch the game, then do it all again after the game. Being out at cove i can see us sitting in the bar in town, seeing that its 20 to 3 and deciding to stay in the bar. there would be a few like that, nae doot a funcy new ground would also attract a load of new folk at the start, but for me its just nae something to look forward to.

  11. Hope your right Al as this lad has lower league journeyman written all over him.

    Ā

Deek has been very 50/50 in the transfer market imo, some horrors and some crackers, I will be fair to him and say that he has identified the shite pretty early and binned them asap, if he had only asked me in the first placeā€¦ As a fitba fan i see myself as highly qualified in the art of being able to say ā€œutter shiteā€ before actually seeing anyone play or even ever hearing about them, if proved wrong I will of course deny ever having written such nonsense. With lines like ā€œI always knew he was a hidden gemā€, ā€œgreat spot Deekā€ etc

    Ā

On this occasion Iā€™m calling ā€œShiiteā€ mair Wylde than Shinnie

    Ā

Donā€™t know why but I also have the feeling that May is still very much a target

    Ā

  12. Iā€™m one of the few that hasnā€™t had to much of a problem with him, heā€™s caused me to kick walls and punch floodlight stanchions a few times mind, Heā€™s also saved us on many occasions and weā€™ve had many far far worse keepers, Good luck to him in the future, His time with us was up but I hope he does well at St Mirren

    Ā

The young lad Ward looks decent enough but itā€™s only a loan unfortunately, Brown isnā€™t any better or worse than clangers imo, so hopefully the young lad Rogers is the business, although with him only getting a one year deal and then being sent out on loan again, it could bite us in the arse if he attracts attention, we could be looking for three new keepers at the end of the season, Taht lad at Dundee looks decent

    Ā

  13. I still think May is our main target, whether we get him or not is another thing, cant say im 100% on him but we need another goal scorer, even with nae being 100%, if we do go for him I hope its on a deal, rather than a loan, just in case he is a success.

    Ā

Hopefully now that the euro run is done, we see a couple out and a couple in

  14. We often look at talking the train to the weeg for games to allow everyone to have a scoof, but the prices are ridiculous so we always end up taking a car, 20 quid return and they wouldn't be able to keep up with demand

  15. Agreed, a good team to have to play after the disappointment of thursday, hopefully we've learnt how to cross a ball as the last two games have been shocking

    Ā

Havent a clue how we will line up, but i think Deek will bring in Rooney, Smith and Flood from the start, maybe even Robson, Personally I wouldnt mind seeing young Scott Wright getting 30 minutes or so, Pawlett, Goodwillie and Hayes to the bench

    Ā

    In / Out:Ā  In

    Pre matcher: Gothenburg suite

    Match: Directors box

    Post Match: Gothenburg again

    Prediction:Ā  Smith, Taylor and McLean

    Ā

    Ā

    Edit

Forgot Quinn didn't start the other night,Ā  definitely think he'll come back in with Consi going left, thats maybe one change to many, flood stays on the bench

  16. Surely we'll not go three at the back.

    Ā

    I'd go:

    Ā

    Ward

    Logan Taylor Quinn Considine

    Jack Shinnie

    McLean McGinn Hayes

    Rooney

    Ā

    Brown

    Rose

    Flood

    Robson

    Smith

    Pawlett

    Goodwillie

    Ā

I fear one goal wont be enough.Ā  I hope our away goal proves vital but I just feel we'll need to win by two.

    Ā

I don't think the rest weekend will make a huge difference to them, not unless they've traveled early (have they?).Ā  It's not the game time at this stage that is tiring for the players, it's the extended periods cramped on planes and the multiple time zones.

    Ā

aye, i'd be happy with that, but i wouldnt be surprised to see Flood in for __________ (insert anyone) Dek likes him. the only way i see Flood fitting in is with Quinn on the bench, Consi going centre and Shinnie at left back

    Ā

im getting scunnered with this "having to many decent players lark"Ā

    Ā

sure i saw on twitter that they are leaving today

  17. In / out - In

    Pre match - Driving

    Match: RDU

    Post matcher: driving home

Prediction - 2 Nil dons - (Robson, Goodwillie)

    Ā

Could be a nervous match and will have to win the midfield battle to limit their attacking prowess.

If fit I could see Robson coming in to dictate play at the expense of flood although flood did well yesterday I can't see his style working in Europe.

    Ā

I see your point, but Robson scares me, I never know if hes going to try a 50 yard back heel back pass under pressure or dive into some mad tackle. I think Flood will start, hopefully with the instructions to get it moving forward a bit quicker than he usually does
