  1. I found St Peter's Square to be pretty cool, quite dramatic looking and the Basilica is worth a look.  Went into the Vatican tour and I found it quite disgusting - the place is dripping in gold; tapestries woven with gold hang on the walls of all the corridors (most of which lead to a gift shop), sell a few of them and give the money to those who need it in the world.  The Cistene Chapel..? Wasn't overly impressed, but i suppose it's not a bad effort for a painter and decorator.

Italy is magic though, my favourite country.

Where did you go? I spent most time in Amed (scuba diving was brilliant) and then a few days in Ubud - people were really friendly and it was inexpensive

We were in Seminyak.  I didn't not have a good time, I just don't think the 16 hour flight justified the outcome.  You could reach Cuba, Cancun, India, Thailand or one of the Caribbean islands with 6 hours to kill and I think you'd have better beaches, waves, food, culture, hotels, etc.

I think it gets such a big name because of it's proximity to Australia.  The Aussies flock there because it's not Australia.  They lap it up because it's different, of course in comparison to Austrialia it is, but if you're flying from the UK then I'd give it a miss and aim for something a bit closer......... (better?).

That said, I'd recommend Bali if you weren't travelling that far to get to it, and the scuba diving is excellent.

  2. Do any of us know what's going on? Do we give a fuck?

When 11 out of every 20 "Scots" vote for a continuing governance by Westminster, we know there's a deep problem.

As a fat English taxi driver gets executed by persons in Iraq, like a couple of "western" folk before him, listen to the rhetoric.

It's like the modus operandi - beheading - makes the millions of lives taken by the "coalition" to be all right?

Since when did Iraqi lives mean less than a puckle of journos and aid workers?

Since when did millions of dead mean less than half a dozen?

How did this get so fucked up?

Obama and Cameron are being provoked and all they come out with is lies.

Are we, the sheeple, so stupid not to see what's going on?

Judging by the referendum, we certainly are. Fuckwits.

    Amazing shite getting spake here.

Either you see what Cameron/Milliband/Clegg and Obama and the EEC represent or you don't.

The opportunity NOT to separate from the establishment says much about the electorate.

55% of the people who live in this country are total shit.

They are either feart or stupid. We lost the opportunity to change the world.

Romance, optimism, intelligence, pragmatism, critical thinking, determination, integrity - some Scots have it all.

  3. So which one are we getting?

The currency debate was done to death and more or less, by both sides, defunct as a scare tactic.

But it seems like you've made up your mind about which way you'll vote and you're sticking to it by using the currency fears as your reasoning.

  4. Any chance you were flying long haul on BA?

Transformers 4 - Generic by the numbers but passed the time and felt it was better than the first of the new ones (haven't seen the other 2). Still not a patch on the 1986 original

Edge of Tomorrow - Didn't want to see it but was pleasantly surprised and felt it was actually very entertaining.

    Bingo.

  5. I don't recall there being an airport at Pamplona when I was there about 6 years ago.  I drove up from Madrid.

I think I've also flown into Toulouse Airport with a budget airline from G'gow or Edinburgh.  That might be worth a shout if they're still flying that route but again that was around 10 years ago.

  6. Robocop - Exactly the same as the original with less violence and no swearing.  Pointless.

Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit - Pointless.  Watch Bond or the Bourne series.

Noah - Bit weird but surprisingly enjoyed it.  Thought the creationism/evolutionism part was clever.

  7. I keep seeing comparisons to Norway but they never seem to mention the basic income tax rate there is 28% compared to 20% in the UK.

Salaries are higher in Norway and that goes from the top right down to minimum wage.

The difference being that you can actually see where your tax money goes over there.  They punch holes through mountains to get from A to B at the drop of a hat.  Aberdeen can't even afford to fix potholes and I won't even mention the bypass.

Meanwhile Birmingham to London is gets a high speed train to the tune of £80bn.

  8. The Motherwell game still hurts and obviously would rather have finished 2nd. However with regards to Europe I think we're better off having played against a piss poor team, giving the younger guys a bit of European experience and confidence rather than going straight into round 2 unseeded. Hopefully it worls out for the bezt

See if we're still saying that halfway through the season when our team are knackered.

  9. I think it would be naive to think that's all the doctor was doing with the blood, otherwise why would it be a big secret?  I'm sure that press clipping said there were performance enhancing drugs lifted from his clinic at the same time they busted him.

  10. My (limited) understanding of it is that the clinic was a like a blood bank for the athletes.  They would take blood from the athletes at some point, store it in bags and then inject it back into the athletes when they needed it.

So they'd have more blood in their system when it came time to compete.  More blood means more red blood cells, more red blood cells that carries oxygen round the body, means the body performs better.

I'm not sure if they can test for that?

  11. There's been so much shit from both sides it's getting boring.  And an awful lot of "opinions posted as facts" on social media that people are just getting tired of it.

I'm not even sure what a vote for independence means now - are we sharing the currency, head of state, BBC, NHS, Trident, pension funds, armed forces, foreign embassies etc.... or are we ditching all or some of these if we go independent?  Why have the SNP not published the full costs of independence?

Currency is still the main topic for me, and if we don't get a definite answer on what our currency will be then I will be voting no.  SNP say its the pound, Westminster says its not the pound, so which is it?  It would be a massive mistake if we ended up with the Euro IMHO.

Whether it's a yes or no vote, we could end up with a divided nation.

Certainly north of the central belt it appears to be largely a "no" vote at the moment, particularly in Aberdeen.

It wouldn't surprise me if the currency debate is the next 'bending of the truth' that is easily cleared up.

After all Danny Alexander has now admitted we can have the Beeb and the Lottery:

  12. Anyone else find it strange that whilst the whole country was gripped in a recession and unemployment at an all time high, that Spanish teams and athletes were so dominant?

For example Barca & Spain were picking up silverware and breaking records everywhere and Rafa was running the show in tennis (whilst making females weak at the knees with his impressive physique despite saying he rarely lifts weights).

    Then this happens......

    http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/cycling/22361185

But no names come out, big cover-up, nothing to see here.

Yet almost overnight Barca win fuck all, Spain are looking likely to be first on the plane home from Brazil and Rafa's perennially injured or crashing out of competitions at the first round despite being the world's numero uno.

In fact, speaking of cover-ups, Rafa's decided to do just that, he's ditching the sleeveless tops in favour of sleeves which give him less freedom.  Why would you want to restrict your movements on court, unless of course it was to hide what is no longer there?

Reeks of shite if you ask me.
