  1. Saw on the EE website today that Hart and Foster are in talks over new deals.  Noticed we have a fair few out of contract at the end of the season.  Who do you think deserves a new contract and who doesn't?

Derek Soutar - No deal, never been a fan of him

Jamie Langfield - Deal but would like a goalkeeper of better ability to replace Soutar

Barry Nicholson - Deal, one of our best players last season

Steve Lovell - Deal, he can be our the goal scorer we need, just needs to stay fit

Lee Miller - Deal, think he'll be a better player for us next season

Chris Clark- Deal but would be nice to replace him with a more complete midfielder

Zander Diamond - Maybe, big chance for him now.  If hes still making an arse of himself by Xmas we may need to consider moving him on

Richie Byrne - NO DEAL!! Just heard hes injured again and out for 8 weeks, pish player as well

Richard Foster - 12 months ago I would have said no deal but I think hes useful to have in the squad

Michael Hart - Deal, can't afford to lose him since we lost Anderson.

Could have listed Brewster as well but who'd be daft enough to say hes worth an extend playing deal beyond December!

i'd give Hart, Nicholson, Clark, Miller and Lovell new deals.

Soutar Diamond and Foster i would wait and see how they do at the begining of the season

Lagfield and Byrne can eff off.

  2. the guys been a manager for about 10 minutes

Aye, but he's captain Manure for how long? It's nae like he's brand-new to the sport! He's been around for a long long time as a player. He more than most people would've had to get the measure of players pretty quickly to suss out how to play against them. He proved at Manure that he had this capability in abundance. Now I'm pretty sure he'll take this trait into his managerial career.

Good luck to him and Russ. I will wait with anticipation for the day the Sunderland fans are made to eat their hats. Right now, they can go and eat their own shite for all I care. They've taken our captain and most valuable player for a pittance, and they dinnae even like him!

i know he's got a good player in anderson but all i'm saying is just because he was captain of man utd for years doesnt mean he will be shit hot at management. Willie Miller was one of the best captains ever and look where his management career went.

  3. Aye, I do ... and yes I did. But when he was with Barca, he didn't really get a chance did he? I mean, twenty-odd appearances in the two years he played there. And that was despite the fact that he scored a dozen goals in those twenty-odd appearances.

I just get the feeling that, regardless of what he does, Russell's nae gonna get a chance with Sunderland. And I know he's nae exactly the sort of player who's happy to sit on the bench and just collect a wagepacket whilst his talent gets wasted in the reserves.

I think he'll do alright mate. Roy Keane knows a player when he sees one, he's played against Anderson and Keane has not only said that he admires his playing ability but also his leadership. I think that's a fair bit of praise coming from one of the best captains there's been in world football in the last 20 years.

It doesn't matter what Sunderland fans say about him just now, they'll change their tune when they see him play, and lets face it, they have no right in taking an uppity stance with us over the quality of our players... they sold us Dan fucking Smith for Christs sakes.

i've been hearing this alot about roy keane knowing everything about football but i dont get it the guys been a manager for about 10 minutes

  4. Quote Willie Miller

"The proceeds of the sale will be reinvested in the football department, from youth development right up to first-team level.

"We have a number of existing players whose contracts are up next summer and contract discussions will be beginning soon. We also have European football to look forward to and we will look at helping Jimmy Calderwood with his squad as he prepares for that."

i will accept this. i was pissed off yesterday thinking that it would be to help with the debt.

  5. I hope he doesn't go to Bournemouth. I think he's vastly underused by Calderwood, and is arguably our most clinical finisher. However, I had a wee read of one of the Bournemouth forums, and folk on there seem to think it's pretty much a done deal that he's heading back to Dean Court (or whatever it's called these days). Quite worrying that our most valuable assets are all being linked elsewhere. Just hope we can keep ahold of the likes of Lovell and Anderson. Dan Smith I couldn't give two hoots about. And the only thing I really like about Dempsey was his missus is quite hot and was the bank clerk who opened up the DonsTalk bank account.

if we lose lovell i will be very pissed off. Lovell is our best finisher and should start every time ahead of miller mackie and brewster.

  6. What's worth more?

Having Anderson help us achieve more next season, or a quickie £1M?

Let's whore our best player and captain for a quick buck and f*ck the future >:D >:D:hammer:

He's STILL UNDER CONTRACT so tell them english minks to GTF

spot on mad bad. i dont want us to do what killie and hibs do and sell our best players as soon as any of them have a few good games. i want us to build a team that will bring success to the club and along with it money

  7. With The P&J stating that Jimmy has given the FIK boy 48 hours for an answer, is it worth pursuing this???  Why not offer John Sutton a contract.  He has been a handful in every game I've seen him.  Surely a better prospect that Fik.  At least we know what we'd be getting?

i think sutton will be go to the lower english leagues.

if fik doesnt sign then i think we should be looking for another central midfielder

  8. in paper yesterday saying that dons move in for kasper smiechel (canny spell it) do u think he will be number 1 or soutar i think we should be looking better is there anybody else about we have a possibility of signing?

a few lads claim the guy Krul from newcastle is available on loan next season. he was brilliant against palermo. also the dutch under21 keeper

  9. I know we are in debt but he would not need to go nowhere if tight fisted milne got his cash out

He clearly wants to stay but i fear that the slightest sniff of cash and aberdeen will let him go..

btw when did this forum get back up i used to come here by the name of madmax but got fed up with it closing all the time and went to another one

that is not the answer for a sustained AFC - and why should Milne put his hand in his pocket???  When companies are in debt, chairmen usually empty the coffers before running - he's trying to make the business self sufficient.  And you cannot question his business accument, look at the company he built himself.

Chairmen always get flak when the team isn't winning,  i want the team to win, but I also want a team to support.

milne helped to create the fucking debt and owes us something. selling our best players is not the way forward. sure the debt will decrease but with no results on the park we'd be fucked.

  10. If this De Visscher chappy is in the wing mould of Stephen Glass circa 1997-98, I'll be a very happy dandy! We've not had a left sided winger since Glass. Infact, I don't think we've had a decent winger on either side since Glass (Jamie Smith aside)

jamie smith is much better and effective through the middle than on the wing, lucky for us jimmy has said that jeffrey has been bought to give smith more freedom

  11. Apparently we will accept 1 million from middlesborough for anderson as he is out of contract next season, this of course comes from the glasgow press, maybe trying to upset our camp before the big game.  Anyway Mcnamara is due to sign today too.

theres no maybe about it mate, they pull this shit all of the time. typical glasgow bull shit.

  12. What i meant by that statement is that mackie shows desire to do well and has actually got a good record for assists and is the top scorer as it stands.  Langers hasn't made nearly as many mistakes as some of the other keepers in the SPL, everyone is prone to mistakes its human nature.  He has saved us more times than not.  There is currently only 3 keepers i'd take in from the SPL as it stands as a good replacement or improvement, they are mcgregor, boruc (fud), or gordon at hearts other than that there is no one else.  Keepers get remembered for their mistakes not their saves, more times than not.   Langers has also got nearly as good a record as boruc, the difference is langers has to work harder than boruc usually does.  Therefore will throughout the season have to make more saves than boruc would have to.  I'd like to see the shots to saves ratio from the current season, it would probably show langers has done better than what we think and sometimes take for granted.

Bad goalkeepers get remembered for their mistakes.

People say that he has saved us more than not. But, he's a professional goalkeeper, of course he's going to make saves. It's the basic errors that he makes which show he is not good enough.  No one is expecting him to be the next Jim Leighton, but for fucks sake, look at the mistakes he's made this season. It's embarrassing. You wouldn't see that sort of stuff down your local playing fields. Whether there are only 3 keepers in the SPL you'd take or not, the bottom line is Langfield makes basic mistakes. In fact, this season you could say he is "prone" to them. Once that starts happening, there is no way back. If Langfield was playing under any other manager he'd have been dropped long ago. Ryan Esson was dropped for a lot less, that can't be denied.

Yes, goalkeepers mistakes are highlighted more than outfield players. Tough shit. It's the nature of the beast.

I don't WANT to moan about the guy, but just look at some of the soft goals he's let in. If people are honestly happy with that level of (supposed) professional performance from an Aberdeen goalkeeper, then fair enough, it's up to them. But there is no way in hell I'm going to be happy with the sort of performances he's turned in this season.

    100% spot on

  13. I don't understand this, why the hatred towards one of our most constant players, its the same with mackie (ok can drive you daft but always tries)  I'd rather have langfield who has rarely made a mistake than the edinburgh bunglers that have cost their team big time.  Ok langers has had his moments but i'd rather see him in goals than the hibs dobbers etc.

    are you sure about that?

so what if i played for aberdeen i would try my arse off, doesnt mean i would be any good.

  14. this legend status that the media have givin lennon now that he is leaving celtic is beyond me the guy is a complete wanker who cant control his temper and does nothing but moan, any other teams player would be in front of the sfa for that.

billy dodds and gordon strachan tried to justify lennons attitude on radio scotland by claiming he's the way he is because he just wants to win. so would i be right in saying if you want to win you can be an arsehole.
