Just to add, I'm over 165 loyalty points and I don't have DNA membership. It seems that DNA is worth significantly more than attending away matches though. It's problematic. Whether directly or indirectly, it'll be being used to fund Kingsford too.

Exactly. There will be fans out there who use their spare cash to go to the football, and won't be able to afford the DNA membership.  They could potentially lose out on big game away tickets because they don't necessarily have the spare cash for DNA.  It's only £12 or £18 or whatever for a lot of folk, but for some folk that will be an amount too far. Should they be penalised for that, in spite of their loyalty to the club?

It's an utter shambles that AFC have mixed the two schemes together.

The club know who the most loyal fans are, the ones who go home and away. Regardless of anything else, they are the ones who should be offered first refusal of match tickets.

  2. Bobby,

I bought my ticket in Lower Richard Donald Stand online last night and hotel is provisionally booked.  Just need a train up sorted.

I've been speaking with my ex-Mental Health Peer Worker Moira yesterday and said to her that as much as we would like to progress as far as we can I'm very realistic about our chances in this tie. As a one off spectacle despite the opposition not filling me with any great excitement (I've already stated it is in my eyes the most boring draw we could have got) I still NEED TO BE THERE to support my heroes regardless.  Even if it only means I have the souvenir scarf and programme to show for my effort.  My Aberdeen European memorabilia is very special to me as I never thought we'd ever see my lads play seventeen continental matches in eleven years given some of the dross that has worn a Dons jersey since 1991 and my first ever match.

Yes I want to win over the two legs but there will be some embarrassment on my part if we don't do ourselves justice.  Just don't buy into all this 'Battle Of Britain' mumbo jumbo I've seen from other supporters.

    Good man SeeBass.

  3. A friend of mine sent me the below message via Facebook regarding our home leg with Burnley;

"Anxiety is a horrible thing, and in a way the only way to overcome it is to push yourself, but only you know if you're ready to do that or not. But the other way to look at it is; how disappointed in yourself will you be if you don't go? You have to turn it around to look at it another way. Perhaps if you keep taking the medication you may be a wee bit more ready for that journey? W. x"

I think your mate has made a great point there SeeBass. It could turn out to be one of the great nights of Scottish Football (either one of them) and if we got a result you would love it.

I'm not going to make it to either match as I'm away on holiday, if you can get yourself to Pittodrie sing your heart out.  The boys need your support, sing them home SeeBass.

  4. Croats always seem to have a piss poor performance in them. Usually sees them going out but not this time. They will not play as badly again and have got to fancy their chances of making the final.

Agree Jute, think you're spot on with that.

Got a few bucks on them getting there and a few more on Colombia.  Maguire and Young on the wrong side against Cuadrado...? Surely there's only one winner? We'll see on Tuesday.

  5. I'll be taking Colombia to win.

Very good on the break, Cuadrado has been very good for them, attacking down the right on to Maguire's side (if they play 3 at the back again) will cause England a lot of issues - Maguire is a right footed centre half playing on the left of the three, against decent opposition that will become more of an issue.

Their midfield isn't good enough either. Would imagine Quintero will boss them. England really need a passer in midfield.

  6. It's been a while right enough! Went with the Glasgow Reds once or twice too but they were a bit rowdy, beer fights and all sorts.

Perhaps it's me, I should maybe just drive

That's yer Tom Widdows for you.  He has a bit of a rep as a rowdy beery fight type chap.

He's on here, ask him for a refund.

ps. are beer fights just fights using beer? Seems a waste to me.

  7. Bit harsh, agreed his game fell away when it was announced he was going back to the unwashed, but for a good while he was head & shoulders above anybody else in our team. I think , if we had him back here on a permanent deal i think his form/attitude would return.

It had fallen away way before that was announced.

Cracking player on his day, but we never saw his day enough since the turn of the year.  Don't think he'll be missed.

  8.

Has anyone done any research into the demise of the Scottish national team and looked to see if there is any link to the number of players

    3) Not having an 'actual' first touch

    The biggest issue above.

The technique of our players is, by and large, absolutely shite.

Doesn't matter where you're born, if you're lacking in the fundamental skills of the game you will obviously struggle against those who master them.

It has been a long, long time since Scotland have had a player who could even think about touching the likes of Modric in terms of technique.

  9. Most enjoyable thing about the Croatia game was actually seeing two midfielders in Modric and Rakitic doing a midfielder's job.  Up and down the park, controlling the game, switching play, getting on top of the opposition.  Feel as though it's the first time in the World Cup we've seen a proper midfielder's performance; the two of them were superb.

  10. Definitely seems that way. Going to be very difficult for supporters clubs to run buses if they cannot guarantee folk tickets. Also makes it impossible to sit with your mates if everyone has different loyalty points.

They've been trying to do it for years.  I'm not sure why they think it's a good idea, but added to the DNA loyalty points nonsense, it's clear they want customers and not fans these days.

  11. For whatever reason I'm quite depressed we didn't get different opposition.

It's outwith your control SeeBass, so don't be too disappointed - we'll get the foreign opposition you crave in the next round.  In the meantime i think it's a good way of us seeing how good we are - we're obviously more familiar with Burnley and the league they play in so it's easier to gauge than against the likes of Rijeka, Groningen etc.

  12. Whilst women might be shite at playing the game, that lass Alex Scott totally pissed over Drogba & Neville with her insightful punditry during the France v Australia game. Also don't get me started on that fucking half wit Lawrenson.

    Alex Scott is good.

"Half wit" for Lawrenson is too kind to the monotonous cunt. Why could he not work out that it was a penalty because after the defender had played the ball, Griezman had played it and there was then contact - different phase of play.

The boy has the easiest/cushiest/nicest job in the world - watch live football in different places across the world, in the biggest sporting events in the world and he's still a miserable prick who gives off the impression that he hates the game even more than he hates his sorry self.

The prick also seems to forget that he played for Ireland, not England.

  13. Well done Rico min

You were able to tell the truth about how you feel.

Generally that's not allowed these days, beware of the thought police.

I think it's allowed. Don't mistake being told that people think you're a cunt, for being told you're not allowed to voice your opinion.

You seem to hate everyone and everything that isn't from Aberdeen and isn't straight.  That, to me, isn't normal.

I genuinely don't care where anyone is from, or who they want to be with (within obvious reason), but it's entirely up to yourself and absolutely is your right to voice your thoughts.  The fact I, or anyone else, doesn't agree with you doesn't mean we're the thought police or it's "PC gone mad" or any other shite like that. It just means we're voicing our thoughts, exactly as you're doing.

  14. Jesus to be top scorer (because he's fuckin Jesus)

That not the sort of thing that repulses you..??  ;)

Took Spain some weeks ago to win, don't expect that to happen now.

Top scorer bets: Griezman, Jesus and Muller, was pretty delighted i got 33/1 for Muller.

  15. Danny Philliskirk won't be joining, couldn't convince his wife to relocate apparently. Also, notice it's went abruptly quiet on Gleeson? Seemed like it was imminent, nothing mentioned since.

Still plenty of time of course, and a better route to go down than Tansey's etc.. Hope we can get that one over the line.

Also, can anyone tell me regarding Lewis Ferguson & the compensation issue, is the player 100% ours now, even though nothing has been resolved regarding compensation, can he still technically go back to Hamilton as was before our pre-contract?

He's ours. He was out of contract with Hamilton this summer.  The compensation isn't because he was under contract but because of the development fee they are due.

  16.

King Joey and Stuart Kennedy feature in the programme which was nice to see and I never realised Kennedy played, I always thought it was McGrain and Jardine as full back by that point.

McGrain was injured for that tournament otherwise he'd have played, bit bizarre the programme never mentioned it.

  17. my personal views on this will be kept..er personal.

But i am sick n tired of the world embracing " gayness" especially when people that are straight are vilified nowadays. seems everywhere you go its super nice to meet you. attitude.

If their is any gay people, keep it to yourself!

Didn't do a very good job of keeping them personal in the end there.

    You probably should have, however.

Couldn't care less if any of our players or opposition players are gay (and some will be, of course).

  18. This is about the development fee though, not a transfer fee.

Hamilton are due what it cost to develop the player, not what they believe he's "worth" in the transfer market when he's under contract etc.

If Hamilton are suggesting it cost them £900k to develop Ferguson then surely we'd be asking for proof of that?  And also asking how on earth they are surviving if it costs that much to develop one player...

  19. The way I understood it, and correct me if I’m wrong B.B was that those who’ve played previously but choose to sit out on friendlies should lose a cap per game they miss. Then they shouldn’t also automatically get picked and go straight into the first team for the proper games. Hence why shinnie shouldn’t get dropped because others are suddenly “available” after choosing not to be previously.

Yes, that was pretty much it.  Tongue was partly in cheek, but was a nod to the number of players who called off this time due to tiredness etc, I bet they wouldn't have been tired if it was a World Cup they were going to.
