Time will tell if it has been a good transfer window. Goalkeeper: Have we improved? Is Roos better than Lewis? Defence: Coulson, Stewart & Scales look good. Richardson ropy, and the promise of all these assists he would get hasn't materialised yet. But at the moment, any improvement in defence appears more down to it being fully fit. We're a Scales injury away from having to rearrange the team to cope, and having players out of position just like last season. Midfield: I think the jury is out on everyone bar Hayes. It's easy to look impressive v 10-man Livi & St Mirren. The next three games (County, Rangers, Hibs) will show us how good our midfield really is. Striker: Miovski & Duk are scoring. Again though, let's see the next three games. We've got a team in place that should be better then last season, but that should be a given. The task is to be an improvement on the last four seasons.

He said: "Make it make sense please. There are two sides to every story, that’s all for now." Not only has he deleted the tweet, he's now deleted his twitter & (I think) his Instagram.
-
Also, another one from Jim Goodwin that will likely bite him on the arse. Says Ramirez to Hearts is a no-go because doesn't want to loan to rivals, then loans McLennan to St Johnstone, essentially suggesting they're not good enough to be our rivals. St Johnstone will be sticking that on the dressing room wall ahead of their next visit.

Yeh, some of the stick he's getting on Twitter is unwarranted in my opinion. He's generally kept quiet this summer, he wants to play and isn't even considered a squad player, yet apparently he's a drama queen for one deleted tweet. If he was shite I wouldn't care, but he's actually proved to be a very effective goalscorer. The whole situation is utterly bizarre.

Cheeky. https://www.afc.co.uk/2022/09/01/david-bates-departs-the-dons/ Surely another defender on his way in..
-
Appears STV were wrong, Goodwin has rubbished the Moult rumours too. My blood pressure is just about returned to normal. Goodwin says he wants Bates and Ramirez to stay preferably, but McLennan has been told it's time to move on.
-
According to STV, Aberdeen are after Louis Moult (remember him?). Has scored nine goals in the five years since he left Motherwell. Exciting. Edit: Goodwin has rubbished the Ramirez to Hearts stuff.
-
Goodwin's semi-final record ain't exactly a glowing one either.
-
It's setting up nicely for Goodwin v McInnes at Hampden.
-
Okay fine, Aberdeen you're forgiven.
-
3-1. Shame on all of you who panicked too early and doubted us.
-
Annan's current run of form Albion Rovers 2-2 East Kilbride 1-1 Stirling 1-2 Dumbarton 0-4 They're second bottom of League 2. We better destroy this mob in extra-time to make up for the previous 90.
-
Wonder what his username is.. And has he signed the energy crisis petition yet?
-
At the moment, sounds like we could do with Annan conceding a penalty and having a player sent off.
-
Morris on the left? Kennedy on the right. I'd have given Lewis the run out but we all know Jim Goodwin reads this forum and obviously others were more persuasive than me. Glad to see Mackenzie start though - totally forgot about him to be honest. 90 minutes will do him good and Coulson is one of those players who you want the cotton wool wrapped round him for three big games coming up (County, Rangers, Hibs).
-
They're of the same (actually, worse) standard of the teams we had four clean sheets against in the group stage, when the defence were all shy and vulnerable. It's now the end of August. We'll be fine. Lewis in for Roos or I we riot.
-
We're nine games into the season. Getting to know each other - birthday caird pish. It's Annan ffs. Give Lewis a run out, let Hayes have a rest, win the game by half-time and let Duk, Polvara, Duncan, Milne and Watkins have the second 45 minutes to run riot.
-
What's he on about? It IS the best Aberdeen team ever. Shame Motherwell didn't find that same energy against Sligo... https://twitter.com/PLZSoccer/status/1564606418375819276?s=20&t=uuO8MjfQwtR044bBe9m6iA

Again, we're agreeing with each other. I'm proposing dropping the auld yin Hayes and switching the goalkeeper, and sticking with the other nine. That's not wholesale changes, quite the contrary.
-
It's Annan. They're League 2. They haven't won in four games (in 90 minutes) and one of those was a 4-0 shagging off Dumbarton. I doubt us switching the goalkeeper to keep him sharp is going to disrupt the team too much. Would suggest dropping Hayes would be more likely to do that, but you're in agreement that's fine.
-
Is that not what I just said? Lewis in for Roos is hardly complicating matters.
-
When I say I don't think he's been treated fairly, I'm not talking about not being in the team. Goodwin preferring Miovski and Duk is his prerogative. But, for someone who appears to be so forthright with the media, it's almost like he's deliberating holding information back so everyone can gossip about "what's really going on" with Ramirez. Even in your post you've accused him of "bugging out early". Did he, or was he just done after essentially playing for 18 months continuously? He wasn't in the squad at all on Saturday (neither was Bates). Goodwin said it was because there's options ahead of him - does he think we all zip up at the back? Just stop the bullshit and snidy comments to the media like "if players don't want to be here then...." when Ramirez and Bates can't answer back and by all accounts are still knocking their pans in in training hoping to get picked. If I was a 20-goal a season striker, in a foreign country, who was now third choice at best, I'd be looking for a move too. That doesn't make Ramirez a bad person. It leaves a sour taste because it very much looks like once a player isn't in Goodwin's good books he's going to be ostracised, and other players and potential signings will notice that. I don't think Brown's profile was a problem. Glass letting him decide where and when he would play was the problem, and that was more to Glass being inexperienced and Brown being his pal then anything. Brown himself has admitted he played too much last season and should have concentrated more on his coaching role. I think Brown, as a coach, with the ability to still play as a back-up when needed (v Celtic when Scales is out) would still have been an asset to the club. Was hugely respected by his team-mates and was still on his day good at fitba. Now fair enough, he hasn't went into detail about his exit and maybe it was his decision to go more than Goodwin's, but Goodwin seems determined to erase all memories of Glass.
-
Lewis in for Roos just to give him a run out, and Watkins or Duk in for Hayes as he's probably the only one who we probably shouldn't be playing twice a week. Other than that, stick with a winning team.
-
There seems to be a real connect between the fans & players at the moment, that has not been there at all for a few seasons.
-
Pros: - Has bought well (although Mowbray takes huge credit for that) -We're exciting to watch and not sitting back at 1-0 - Sticks with a winning team rather than needlessly tinkering - He's a gorgeous man - the McInnes dodgy beard era is a thing of the past Cons: - Still worry a little tactically. Outplayed by Motherwell, and Livi were on top before shooting themselves in foot. - Some of his man management has been questionable. Think some of the treatment of Ramirez & Bates has been poor. I also think, although his playing time would have been limited this season, that not keeping Scott Brown on as a coach was a mistake (and even a back-up player). But, let's see the squad at end of transfer window on Wednesday, then four huge games (Annan, Ross County, Rangers, Hibs) that will give us a real answer as to how we're going to fare this season.
