  1. Fully agree, especially as he was a minute off a point. I'd also suggest that if they had won the game, then this whole thing would not be an issue!

The easiest, or most sensible perhaps, would be to rescind Wolve's punishment, and apologise. I'll believe it when I see it.

    Will never happen..

  2. Saw this the other day.. looked a pretty good game from the higjlights.

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has reiterated his threat to resign if his club are fined for fielding a weakened side in the 3-2 defeat by Aston Villa.

Holloway, who made the original claim immediately after the match, said again on Thursday he would quit if punished.

The Seasiders boss made 10 changes to the side that had drawn 2-2 against Everton at Bloomfield Road on Saturday.

But they still pushed Villa hard, and Holloway said: "I'm the manager and I manage the players how I want."

A similar move by Mick McCarthy last season resulted in Wolves getting a suspended £25,000 Premier League fine.

The Premier League is writing to Blackpool to seek an explanation, but Holloway added: "We deserved at least a point and how dare anybody tell me the players I've been working with, I can't treat them with respect and give them a chance.

"If some bright spark from the Premier League wants to tell me who I can pick then come and have a cup of coffee and you'll probably get it chucked in your lap.

    Holloway defends making 10 changes

"Let them try and fine me, it's an absolute disgrace. I'll show the Premier League. We were a credit to football, and let the Premier League try to tell me otherwise."

Speaking after the match at Villa Park on Wednesday, Holloway had admitted that making such wholesale changes may have looked like a "crazy" move.

But Holloway said his hand was forced by the busy Premier League calendar.

"We've got four games in 12 days and the lads I've played every week are struggling to keep up the level," he stated.

It'll be interesting to see how this pans out - especially as 'big' teams regularly play weakened sides in the carling cup.  Fully agree with him though - who the fuck is anyone to say how he sets his team out.  At the end of the day, it's his responsibility to get the most points from the fixtures.

  3. It would be better to see the board giving the money to McGhee to buy some full backs and make sure it’s stipulated it’s to buy FULL BACKS first and foremost and not another five goal scorers (if there is any left lets gets a creative midfielder in as well)

Now obviously buying said full backs in real life is not as easy as fitba manager or the likes but there must be someone out there who is better than awful et al.

How about spending the next 6 weeks having a look at players who are out of contract in the summer, get them to sign up and offer their clubs some cash to get them rightaway

This is it.. I think the problem is that many don't trust Mcghee to make the correct signings - FB positions have been a problem since the summer 2009 and they still have not been rectified despite having 3 opportunities to do so.  From a personal point of view I dont think I can trust McGhee to organise the defence with or without full backs either. This is my issue.

If we replace the manager two things must happen:

    1) - Whoever comes in must be able to redress the squad imbalances in Jan (bad timing to procure players I know, but I think that this squad as it is will be in a relegation fight if it is not addressed)

    2) - They HAVE to be able to address the defensive issues that have seen us leak so many goals in the past 11 games.

With backing, McGhee may be able to do the first option in Jan, but I worry if that needs pointed out to him.  The 2nd point, I have no faith in him what so ever.

  4. Not according to the clowns on the Hat apparently. His rambling rant at the end of the game is reason to keep him according to them.  :hammer:

    Just had a scan

    Hat Happy Clapper:

The way I see it ... You either play Calderwood hoofball ..... Or McGhee gets the team playing some good stuff ... Can't have it either way lads .....

Defence needs looked at but apart from that we are ok ... Just results aren't going our way .

    Jesus H Christ.

  5. The really worrying thing was that there was no fight in the team. Seemed like they were accepting their fate. Thing is, we played pretty well up until the sending off, having had the only chance (header?), but a man down & 10mins later we were 3-0 down. Pen at HT was a bastard aswell. Seemingly we didnt make a tackle at all in the 2nd half.

RE Hartley off - I was defo a handball/ pen, but he wasn't the last man, so why did he walk?

  6. 3-0 to the Mags.

    :)

Great game and great atmosphere. Sunderland were gash & the icing on the cake was Bramble (Rapist allegedly) getting sent off...  ;D  As soon as Newcastle figured out to get the ball over the top onto the forwards, the makems were fucked.

If Newcastle hang on to Carroll & he stays fit & out of jail, they'll be safe this season.

  7. If we are bottom after the first quarter of the games, even if we are in a cup semi, McGhee's position must untenable....

Personally I don't think that McGhee has the managerial qualities to turn 'his' team round and get things on the up.  While he has made some good additions to the squad, it is alarming how we have no natural full backs at the club (I also believe this is where the problems are stemming from) and why this wasn't addressed during the summer months.  Add in a questionable loan, our only remaining full back for a crocked striker, which added to a grossly imbalanced squad has left us in a right mess.

    Whats the options?

#1 get rid of him? - too costly & there is no guarantee that the next manager will be able to turn things around + there'd still be the issue that no FB's = a raping on the flanks each game.

#2 back him to get some FB's in in jan & hope that we're not 10points clear at the bottom by then? - Does MM see where the FB problems are? I dont know. we probably dont have enough cash for that anyway.

#3 have a poll on an internet message board to see which 6 fans can go and protest?

  8. Sending off looked like a petulant kick or stamp? Either way it could be the end of Paton given how sparingly he's been used.

Was at the other side of the stand, so didnt see the actual offence... Thought though that while paton was on the field, we looked alot more lively & I'd say that if  he had stayed on, we'd have gotten a goal back at least.  Your right though, this could be the end of paton. not sure if i agree with that.

Also thought that we resorted to long balls far too often - probably down to lack of width in the team - which is probably due to injury... think i've just used up all MM's excuses there  :hammer:
