What i meant was, a lot of players and Mcghee have said they are hoping for top 6 when infact we should be looking for more than just top 6.

People talk about the top six, but we want to do better than just getting into the top half. We also want to win the cups.

Finally, someone from Aberdeen doesn't just want top 6

Mcghee has confirmed that Hartley will be captain and Zander Vice. 

Boss McGhee said: " We're not quite over the line with Paul but obviously he wouldn't be here if he wasn't going to come and I'm very excited about it. He would be a big, big asset to us.

"He's a quality player, a great pro, and if we could get him on board he would bring the likes of Fraser Fyvie and Peter Pawlett along.

"Paul's a potential captain but obviously Zander Diamond has taken that role so far and I'd have to take that into account."

The move for Hartley is likely to spell the end of interest in Lee Hendrie.

McGhee explained: "It was always going to be the case of whatever deal fell into place first would get done.

"Obviously, we don't have the finances to sign all our targets.
