  1. Billy Dodds was in the Herald today ripping the players to pieces. Says you'd never guess they were playing for places in a Cup Semi final and that it isn't just 4 or 5 players we need to change but the whole lot. Went on to say there are too many players who aren't even of average standard and we should be getting far better value for our money and he knows what a few of our players earn in a week and the vast majority of players in the SPL would give their right arm to earn such a wage.

Generally nothing that the supporters don't already say or know, but at least someone is saying it in print.

Spot on. Its exactly what is called for. There are no decent players at this club at all, total shite.

  2. I read some time ago that Miller actually asked the board for £3m, and had targets identified which he felt could win us the league and the board refused. But no doubt the resources he did get weren't used too wisely.  Joe Miller as a replacement for Paul Mason... EFF EFF ESS.  :hammer:

    Paul Mason, fantastic

  3. If you win a cup it's not a fluke. You can't fluke your way through every one of 4/5/6 matches.

Do you only support Aberdeen to look "cool"? Because that's the way it's coming across.  I've taken pelters all my life for supporting the Dons, but I'd never, ever hide the fact I'm an Aberdeen fan no matter how shite they are.  Yes, I go through times I can't be arsed with them, I lose patience and get unbelieveably frustrated with them but I'm never embarrassed to say they're my team.

Why do you give a fuck what anyone else says about it?

I would say I understand where the other loon is coming from. There is nothing to be proud about supporting Aberdeen this year and arguably for about 13 of the last 15 years of total misery.

Its probably obvious but I am not in love with Aberdeen anymore.  When I was younger I was mad for this club, missed about 3 games in 8 years, went to youth games, the lot. I think you change when you get older but also for me I feel no hope because the misery is compounding year on year. I have lost count of how many semi finals/cup ties we've bottled and how many useless results we've already collated at New St Mirren Park or whatever its called

I remember growing up and standing on the terracing at Hearts and expecting us to win  This year I saw us lose 5-0 at Hearts and it could have been more. We also suffered our record loss in the history of the club and yet still people want to show support for these players  :

When Langfield, as an example, makes an error I go back to that miserable semi final at Tynecastle where his arse collapsed in front of us and numerous other games. Its not just Langfield, there is so many games where i've watched this team disintergate in front of me, even the talented players, such as Aluko. As an aside, I read you and Glasgow Sheep (just two mainly positive posters but there are others) posts and I feel its illogical that you's can "support" players such as Langfield when in reality logic no longer has anything to do with it.

I think my attitude is represenative of a lot of Aberdeen fans, hence the crowds are so low.  I walked out at the end of Wednesday and had to wait whilst people applauded that shambles of a team off the park. I remember years ago being a happy clapper (at the want of a better phrase) and some older loon shouting at me (and others) in total disgust, after we'd lost somewhere. At the time I could not relate to his frustration as I felt we'd played well, perhaps like you and GS did on Weds, many have felt this way and simply given up on Aberdeen. I fully believe the loon won't be attending games now.

Being honest, I am on the brink of falling into an existance of avoiding Aberdeen. I don't go for the right reasons anymore, I go because its something I have always done but I am miserable supporting AFC - hard to tell eh?

  4. Not sure, think Miller would still have dismantled the side as he wanted the title. It wasn't a lack of resources that stopped us progressing under Miller but how he used them, sadly.  That team was a joy to watch at times, 5's, 6's, 7's, all in the right end too.

  5. God folk aren't half melodramatic this week.

If the club is dying it is because we are selling 4000 for semifinals and getting 6000 into Pittodrie with folk constantly bumping their gums about everything from the grass on the pitch to the chairman in the stand.

We've had bad seasons before, and have made bad appointments before but only a few years ago we were playing Europe and (briefly) challenging at the right end of the table.  We've been hit by terrible injuries this season and a terrible manager.  Who knows what injuries we will have next season but with the terrible manager gone we should at least see an improvement.

Look, the pitch is shite and I have posted about that before. It represents more than just punters moaning for the sake of it. We used to have a great pitch and great players on it. I am not even going back to 83 but early 90's where we had not stopped competing but perhaps the trophies were eluding us. We were in effect, where I expect AFC to be.

Now I go to Pittodrie and nobody is there, your right, but that's because the team is so fkn shite! The technical ability is non existent, we play dire long ball football, lose ridicolous goals and rarely score any decent goals. Christ, the other night said it all about AFC, a deflected goal and a goalkeeping howler whilst one of st mirren goals involved us giving the ball away, after falling over the ball whilst not even being challenged, and the now familar scene of a ball in the box and two opposition strikers waiting to finish the ball.  I mind when we had wingers who could try and chip the goalie but on Weds I seen Derek Young hit the bar by mis-hitting a cross.

Your optimism can only be endorsed, as I guess that's what being a supporter is all about, but for many folk the complaints are totally justified and its not moaning for moaning sake, its because we're fed up of being fed shite1

  6. McNamee's injury prone, not pish.  There's a good player there if he could stay fit. Blackman's not really been given a chance imo, he scored a fair few at Motherwell earlier in the season, it'd be very harsh indeed to label him pish at this stage.

I've no idea how long Smith will be here, I was using him and Milson for examples of decent players brought in by Brown hence my optimism re Brown brining in decent replacement in the summer.

I don't recall Brown ever saying we're only 2 players short of being a decent team.  I don't even think he's alluded to that.

All about opinions, McNamee is injury prone and pish.  Feel that Smith is talked up but mainly because we had no left back before, therefore anything is an improvement. Not saying he's not a decent player though. Perhaps he and Milsom are good indications of what Brown can do but my point was more that he's strying to keep players who have proved for years that they are not good enough.

  7. I think that is somewhat unfair on McNamee especially tsr. He's come in, done what has been asked of him and has generally been a decent addition to the squad when fit. Filled a position which was desperately needing filled with a relatively cheap and experienced pro. Smith has been really good since he has come to the club, however him having a year left on his contract at Norwich might scupper any chance of any permanent deal. Milsom has been a breath of fresh air since he arrived at the club, takes the ball down, looks for a pass, always has his head up and doesn't just look for the easy punt. Would be great to get him on a permanent contract.

Just because Brown has offered the out of contract player doesn't mean they are going to sign new deals. Either way, the only players I really want to see leave the club are Diamond, Young and Langfield. I don't think Aluko or Maguire have 'losers' mentality but the other three have had more than enough chances at this club. That said, I do think it is a bit strange as to how Brown seems to rate Diamond especially with what he has said in the press but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that it might just be paper talk and/or him playing up to the media.

It's still early days in the Brown regime and hopefully we can lift the apathy that seems to surround this club.

I don't see how you can watch this team and think that we're only 3 players short of being a top 4 team minimum? That is my expectation for Aberdeen and I think in all honesty we need 11 new players.  In some cases that may be the return of the long term injured, ie Fyvie (hopefully as good as before) but the defence is fkn useless imo and McNamee may be the things you say he is but is that acceptable to AFC? I seriously hope not.

  8. I never noticed this.

As far as the game was concerned I thought we passed the ball well last night and totally dominated the first half. Should have been a few up as it was one way traffic. Came out in the 2nd half and equalized then went to sleep for 10 mins after McCardle went off and awoke to find ourselves 3-1 down. We pretty much took over again from there but never really looked like scoring before Milsoms excellent strike.

Albeit the result was poor, the football was good and for me a lot of posiitives in the performance over all.

PS I think St Mirren had 4 shots at goal all night, all on target.

IMO you need your eyes tested, not least describing Milson's goal as an excellent strike, it was a goalkeeping howler.

Also, I can mind at least two saves by Langfield, one that he almost spilled out to an attacker so think your 4 shouts shout is dubious to say the least.

If folk think there are any positives in a performance that results in Aberdeen deservedly losing then we're fucked.

  9. On that note, i'm not saying he can't spot a average SPL player but the fact is an average SPL footballer is fkn useless. Hence the Sigma and other numerous debacles over the years, when we've been forced to play a half decent foreign side. Initially i'd probably settle for a half decent SPL team, as we're currently 3rd bottom when I expect top 4.

I fully believe we'll finish 2nd bottom this season and be pumped 3 or 4 nil against the tims at Hampden. Crowds will bottom out further and the club will have to decide whether they speculate to accumulate or just settle for more mediocre cheap players from England, i.e the piss poor McArdle and so on.

The club needs a total overhaul of its scouting imo, move towards players with good technical ability for once.

  10. And McNamee too, total pash, Blackman, worse than fkn useless. Milsom does seem a decent player and Smith has clearly improved the defence, but long term will they be here? I don't know. That he wants to offer new deals to many of the losers who have been here for years is a bigger indicator, he can't seriously believe we are only 2 players short of a decent team or something?

I'd say we're at least 8 players short, on some occasions 11.
