Kinda screwed if u'r a season ticket holder and want to take the wee one ....

  2. There's no excuse for spitting at all, if that's true.

Fans have every right to be angry though.

fully agree with you there about spitting. It came from the Main Stand as well .... Dirty bastards, oops that where I normally sit.

On a more serious note, I hope the person (s) who did that feel a bit ashamed when they wake up tomorrow morning, but then again I hope the players do aswell.

  3. Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee has revealed he was spat at by some angry Dons fans after the Scottish Cup defeat by Raith Rovers at Pittodrie.

McGhee described the 1-0 loss to the First Division club as the "worst result of my managerial career".

"There was heckling, which you expect; some spitting. I've never experienced anything like that," he told BBC Scotland afterwards.

"Raith were thoroughly deserving of their result."

The Dons forced a replay 10 days ago after firing a late equaliser at Stark's Park, but Gregory Tade's 58th-minute strike was enough to send Raith through on Tuesday.

"Raith battled for every ball and won every header," McGhee said.

"There's no doubt about it, it's the worst result of my managerial career, and that's no disrespect to Raith Rovers.

"We didn't compete for the first ball and never won a header. On a night like this, on a pitch like this we had to at least win the battle and we never won that.

"Raith won the battle and got the breakthrough with the goal. We're out the cup and I'm embarrassed, humiliated. Walking down the track there I'm getting people throwing stuff at me."

The Dons had earned plaudits last weekend after battling back to draw 4-4 with Celtic in a scintillating Scottish Premier League clash at the same venue.

But the emotions among the home supporters could not have been more different after the full-time whistle signalled the end of Aberdeen's Scottish Cup hopes.

"I've told the players I think they should be ashamed that they're capable of the sort of performance that they displayed on Saturday (against Celtic) - the battling qualities and the effort, commitment - and to come here tonight and not reproduce that, in a game as important as this, is just scandalous," McGhee added.

The Dons boss said none of his players were immune from criticism.

But he said the defeat would not affect his position at the club and that he was determined to prove a success at Pittodrie.

  4. Ah, nothing beats a reactionary "bin them aw" thread.

My comments were not reactionary as i've been hoping that AFC would bin Kerr and McDonald for a long time. Ifil just confirmed how shit he actually is.

SM, WM & Co must wake up and smell the roses and seek avenues of investment into the club.

  5. Simple as McGhee has to go! :hammer: Absolute shambles fuck a step back its more like a fucking car ride back

I fully understand your feelings, but I don't believe that getting shot of MM is the solution ..... punt half the fucking team more like!

TAXI FOR KERR, MCDONALD & IFIL

  6. Just back in from the game and I am dumbfounded. Going from the high's of pegging back the 'tic to a 4-4 draw to watching that dross tonight.

I believe that MM will get things right eventually, but half of that fucking team need to be booted out of the club, starting with the following:

    Ifil

    Kerr

    McDonald

I honestly thought that I had got this out my system as I haven't done it for a while, but obviously not ....

TAXI FOR KERR (and I'll pay the fucking fare!)

PS: To all those folk who state they wont go back again, they are the lucky ones who probably don't have season tickets.  :P

  7. I am interested in your opinion! I dont agree with it thats all.  The general consensus on the site prior to his interview was that the supporters were a bit OTT on saturday so he wasn't inaccurate with his remarks.  Im pretty sure his comments will have the desired effect and the fans will hopefully think before shouting abuse at the next humping.  This interview was a bit of a risk but Im sure he felt it was worth taking.  He has had a couple of days to think it through

    fair doos min ...

  8. What is that letter going to achieve? Should they sack the manager and cost us more money? Are you telling a man who has been in fitba all his life how to do his job? If he does chuck it who on earth would want the post? The club is on a slippery slope and us giving the players dogs abuse is going to make matters worse.  It is fucking unacceptable to boo an individual player for being gash.  Im sure they arent trying to be shite!  Gie the cunts a break.

As someone who has paid their money to follow the "Dons" over the last 25 years, I am entitled to my opinion, as you are too. This is a forum for Aberdeen FC, and I thought rightly or wrongly that some people may have been interested that I took exception to the interview.

  9. Fatjim, maybe the word "shock" was excessive but i still believe that things were said that should not have been in my opinion.

MaverickSheep summed it up well with "sometimes when thousands of boozed up football fans start howling abuse it's not so much a deliberate assault on the people their venting specifically names, as it is a general release of frustration and angst"

  10. I think he said a lot of things in the heat of the moment that he'd probably have rather not said or said differently. If anything at least he gives a shit and takes it personally when things aren't going well. However maybe that's not an advantage. I doubt Fergie really gave much of a shit what Aberdeen fans thought about him or his players. I do think Fergie would've tried to create a siege mentality though and it seems like that's what Dingus is attempting to do.

The problem is the media generally either view Aberdeen as an irrelevance, through rose tinted specs, or consistently harshly. Lack of balanced, unbiased journalism means there's no real leverage to create the siege mentality unless it's the aberdeen fans that are being used as the 'them' in the 'us and them' game.

One other point though. If all that was him speaking from the heart then what I'm trying to do, I don't know if educate is the right word, but certainly persuade him, that hey, sometimes when thousands of boozed up football fans start howling abuse it's not so much a deliberate assault on the people their venting specifically names, as it is a general release of frustration and angst. A howling at the moon type of rage that is better letting out at the time instead of bottling it up until it finds a less socially acceptable way of releasing itself later on.

Performances like that one would best be met with priimal screaming rather than actual words, but civilization has evolved us beyond that point. Those most culpable (the players who don't perform and the man ultimately responsible for the players) will inevitably bear the brunt of that outlet of emotion. Criticising the fans for the sake of critism alone is redundant, if it's for the purpose of motivating the players then fine, if on the other hand it's a means to create an excuse (fan induced lack of confidence) for getting pumped by hibs and celtic then that is less acceptable in my mind...though probably the smart thing for a manager to do.

    here, here & well said

  11. Just sent an email to the club. Let's see if I get anything back.

    To whom it may concern.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my dissatisfaction with the tone and content of the interview given by Mark McGhee that was published on the BBC website on the 9th February 2010.

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/a/aberdeen/8506969.stm

As an Aberdeen FC supporter, season ticket holder and shareholder I do not feel that I need to explain the reasons behind my dissatisfaction, suffice to say that the interview could have, and should have gone in an entirely different direction.

To quote one of my colleagues on www.donstalk.co.uk, the interview, in my humble opinion would have struck a positive chord with the majority of "Dons" supporters if Mark had stated something along the following lines:

"The fans are desperate for success, it's been a while for them and frustration does creep in, they're crying out for someone to stand up and be a hero for them and I truly believe we'll get there, we just need to work together and have a little patience because it'll be worth it in the end, we'll give them a team they can be proud of and their continued support will make it easier for that to happen."

I look forward to receiving a reply from Aberdeen FC via email concerning this topic that I have raised.

    Regards,
