Football is a different world now. In my opinion we do our best to get the best players any way we can, buy or loan, to give us the best chance of success. We can’t afford high end players. Loaning Scales helps us short term. In this financial climate one year signings are the norm for us, that’s the reality of it. Loaning players we can’t afford to buy isn’t wrong, we have to accept the reality of the situation. I don’t give two fucks if loaning Christie Maddison or Scales helps the player or feeder club, they help us short term, hopefully to do well in the league and cups, bringing in money, that helps us afford better players. Would I rather loan Scales or see considine extended for one more year for example, easy answer from me. We do what we think makes us better on the pitch.

Are you suggesting the ONLY LCB we could sign, in world football, with our new improved Director of Football and Head of Recruitment was a young player on loan from a team in the same league, that our manager had previously made attempts to sign from the League of Ireland??

The addition of Maddison in your example, is a red herring. Maddison, Lowe, and Hector all improved us with no limitation on playing time and in no way benefitted a direct rival.

The Christie loan arguably cost us 2 cup wins. He was unavailable for the final in 2017 when he, given the chances we created, (I'd imagine) would have taken at least one. Then he went back to Celtic, after playing regularly for us and developing into a better player, scored the winner in the League Cup Final in 2018.

What if Scales plays well for us, we make the Scottish Cup Final, and we end up with Bates and Gallagher at CB against the tims. Or points dropped against them due to the makeshift defence in 4 games costs us a European spot?

Then after he plays well for us for a season, he goes back and costs us more points or makes challenges or clearances that knock us out of another cup competition. Even just gets sold for double what they paid for him, benefitting them financially.

The alternative is he's absolute pish and we're stuck with a bombscare at LCB or playing a RCB out of position.

Like Rico, I'd rather Considine, but given we've now 3 RCB's why not Considine and A.N.Other. Either risky free signing or young loanee from a different league that we have the option to, or possibility of signing. It clearly wasn't one or the other. Any new player carries commensurate risk (keeping a known, experienced player such as Considine reduces that) but signing someone outhwith our league, at least, reduces the potential to benefit rivals at our expense.

  2. So we now have 3 right sided centre backs, that we own and who likely will all be higher earners, and 1 left sided centre back who won’t be able to play in the League or Scottish Cup nor any league against the tim’s. Making our defence unbalanced 3-6 times a season.

Have to assume we are trying to move Gallagher on, and if so bring in someone else who can play LCB.

If he makes our absolutely shambolic team better for 34/35 league games then I couldn’t give a fuck whether that “development” is good for Celtic or not as we’re light years away from being on the same planet as them anyway.

And we're certainly not going to get anywhere near, if we are developing their players at the expense of our own, while being unable to utilise said players against them.

Noticed that along with him exaggerating the contact.

This is the type of shit we'll have, off-side wasn't "clear and obvious" etc. Well neither was the foul, otherwise you wouldn't watching a replay...

Fucking maroon? Corporate view of the sea? A fucking offset tunnel? Disgusting.

    Great ground though.

In the plans according to Wicks 😆

Sounds like a decent idea, glass fronted either side Michelin starred restaurant on non match days etc.

Shaun Rooney out of contract at St Johnstone. Surely worth a look?

Wouldn't be averse to this either. Big lad but he can shift. This is based on nothing more than games against us towards the end of the season and last nights play-off.

Also Callum Hendry as a squad player. Might have even made top 6 had he signed this Jan rather than last.

  7. I don't have an issue with it. Saw the picture the day of, and my reaction was meh!

That said. If it had been a former Don's player and supporter who'd fucked off to play for the huns and tried to come and watch us in a final, a la judas Robertson, I'd be very vocal in telling him to fuck off and making it as hostile as I could for him.

You're right about the Rangers thing sheepheid, there absolutely is an obsession about it amongst our support.  This incident is not just about that though, it's about publicly showing support for one club whilst being employed by another, the fact that it is Rangers as well will just rub our fans up the wrong way.  I think it is wrong for any player or manager to be seen to be supporting another club.  If Steven Gerrard turns up at the Champions League final, that would bug me as an Aston Villa supporter, in the same way as if Frank Lampard had been in the Chelsea end at the FA Cup final, it just looks unprofessional.

I would imagine, given the family and personal connections, there could have been corporate options available (that would have hidden it), which maybe wasn't offered given the club McCrorie plays for and the reaction it might get from us.

  8. Jimmy took us from 11th to 4th (level on points with hibs in 3rd) and the same points total Hearts achieved this year in one season.

    Did it by;

Adding Severin, the Paatelainen brothers (0 appearances), Craig, Adams, Kristjanssen (1 start), Jamie Winter, Whelan, Pasquinelli, Dempsey (amateur at the end of the season 0 starts), Byrne, Blaha (2 starts) and Illic (0 appearances).

Getting rid of Hinds, Sheerin, Booth, Rutkiewicz, Tiernan, Zdrilic, Prunty, and some youth players.

Pretty impressive when you look at it. Bar Seve, some amount of mediocre averageness and absolute shite in the signings.

  9. Personally I consider the term ”sheep shagger” sectarian and plan to write to Sturgeon, immediately, and make attempts to get anyone who uses it the sack.

Except I won’t, as I’m not a dirty fucking hun cunt.

    Brendan Hamilton from Glentoran

    Teenage left back

Doesn't turn sixteen until mid May

Seen that, was at the Algarve tournament and been over a few times. Seems to have been over at Brighton too, and was a hun for a while, despite appearing to be a tim supporter. Looks big for 15.

  11. Liverpool to pay more for Ramsay than their neighbours paid for Patterson, just to wind them up, 😆.

Funnier even than Everton "allegedly" paying £16 million for him in the first place...

Cormack said one of the "top candidates" they talked with was offered a role at a club in England in the middle of the interview.

He then said "another group", at which point he kinda stuttered as if he realised he was saying something he shouldn't, before mumbling they pulled out due to other reasons.

The Cowley brothers were rumoured to have been interviewed, or at least Darren was. Darren Cowley became Portsmouth manager four days before Glass was announced as Aberdeen boss.

I think he would have been a really interesting appointment. I'm guessing, if the above is true, he figured Portsmouth in League One was a more appealing prospect than Aberdeen, or he wasn't confident he was getting the Aberdeen job and Pompey wouldn't wait for an answer.

Not being an avid fan of League One I've no idea how he's doing other than they're 9th, 10 points off a top 6 spot (play-off). But to be fair there's a lot of big clubs above them in that league - Wigan (who are first) for example have Graeme Shinnie, Jamie McGrath, Jason Kerr and Jamie McLean who would all walk into our first XI. They also have the legend that is Josh Magennis.

Also, a quick Google check finds he has got the fourth highest win percentage of any Portsmouth manager and is "two transfer windows into a three transfer window plan".

    What might have been...

Cowley would have been a really good appointment.

Got to get younger players in the door.  Someone said the other day we have practically the oldest squad in the league.  This season we have recruited far too many players who are either past their peak or pushing 30 and have never reached a peak in the first place.  We need to get back to bringing in hungry players in their early 20s like we did with McLean, Christie and the like, guys who are striving to move up the ladder.

Cormack said Goodwin wants to play a high tempo pressing game and so needs a younger squad to be able to implement it.

Sorry to see Considine go.  We have lost so much invaluable experience these last 12 months with Logan, McGinn, Brown and Considine going.

On wee toon red's comment above - has anyone actually come out and said any of these players are not getting new contracts (Considine aside) or is everyone getting a little bit excited about rumours?  Also, where is the idea that Ramirez and Ferguson will be sold coming from, haven't heard anyone at the club say that?

Been rumours on social media for last month Ramirez has interest back in the states and in English Championship. Then the stuff last week with Hayes' wife posting about how their daughters will miss each other.

Ferguson needs to go this summer if we are to maximise value for a player who stated he didn't want to be here last year (albeit through his daddy and his agent).

  15. This is all just a fucking soap opera at the minute. Cormack calling out the boy on twitter in January and now this. Mind, in the early McInnes days, when the first we knew of a signing was when the official club statement came out. Airing our business is, as has been said, pretty hunnish. If I had to guess we probably weren't too far away maybe Considine wanted two years and a second testimonial, and that's what prompted the leak? But who cares! The reaction from the club is pretty poor. Definitely not what was needed a few days before a potentially season defining game, a season that has fractured the relationship between fans and club.

At least Considine offered a bit of stability next season in what is bound to be a massive turnover of playing personnel combined with whatever is left of this seasons flaky squad. 6 figures is just short of £2k p/w? He's likely to have been on close to double that considering his  length of service.

We've lost Brown, Hedges, McGinn since the turn of the year. Ramirez looks to be on his way, Ferguson will be gone too both bringing in fees you'd have thought maybe even Ramsey. McGeouch, Ojo wont be renewed. All, bar Ramsey, will be high earners. You've got to imagine the club will be making attempts to move Lewis and Jet on, another two of our high earners along with a number of others.

I've seen suggested (if I remember correctly) that Lewis, Woods, McLennan, Kennedy, Campbell and JET have all been told the club won't stand in their way, if they can get a contract elsewhere. May just be some virgin getting over excited though.

This potentially leave us with Gallagher, Bates, McCrorie, Hayes and Watkins as our most experienced players and spine of the team. Supplemented by the likes of Barron, MacKenzie and Vincente as young players with 1st team experience and Duncan and Ngwenya to join them.

Not sure whether to be excited by the prospect of a whole new team or daunted by the type of shite we're likely to end up with?
