Told the Swindon fans to fuck off.

    He'll love it here.

TBF Swindon fans (and the general population there) are a bunch of self-entitled simpleton cunts.

Whoever he is? He’s possibly now my favourite dons player.

Only saw Mattie play a few times as don’t get along as often anymore. Mike Duff liked to play out from the back so if we’re continuing with that he’ll fit the type. He also played a 3/5 at the back, think Mattie mainly played the centre of the 3, as replaced Tozer. Is a big lad who seemed quite commanding, always talking if I remember correctly.

I think that they'll really, really want to, but his position is untenable and I think they'll know that. I think Jim will too.

It's a real shame, everything about him as a character suggests he should have the qualities to be a really good manager. A strong work ethic, good leadership (St Mirren cup winning captain etc), doesn't suffer fools, intelligent and articulate but grounded. I can see why the board would think that they're so close and want him to keep learning. However, his tactical ineptitude (immaturity, even) isn't going to be overcome overnight and I suspect his understanding and patience will have already boiled over with the players making the dressing room untenable too.

I expect we'll see him doing a good job elsewhere soon. We won't see any of the 3-1-4-2s or the other nonsense setups when there is no pressure on him to produce entertainment elsewhere and he'll become a cautious, disciplined manager ala McInnes and be a good fit for someone.

Maybe, if we hadn't had the run of form culminating in Monday night he might have been given enough time to rectify his deficiencies. i.e. 10 of the same player, meaning you have little room for tactical changes, fuck all defenders (part of the same issue) also meaning players like McCrorie can't develop in a single position, Kennedy out of position etc. But for me having a backroom team that can challenge ideas and offer alternate solutions might be the biggest failing. That goes for DoF aa well as Sharpe et al.

  3. Of those mentioned the Cowley brothers (unsure how that will work in our set up?) are about the only ones that inspire even slightly. I guess Nicky would take the list from Mowbray and work out what we need.

Not sure you can look too deeply into how they did at Portsmouth either.

  4. I thought Goodwin was the correct appointment, I was wrong. I cant remember if it was the hibs game earlier in the season, or the huns game, I thought "He hasn't got the tactical ability. We're better to get rid sooner than later".

Stewart, Scales and Lewis at 0-1 down passing it about amongst each other under no pressure before hoofing it aimlessly up field either out of play or to a Darvel players feet.

McCrorie is like the big lad of limited ability at youth level, who gets annoyed, thinks he's better than he is, so just charges at people with the ball before firing it at 100 mph at one of his team mates from 3 yards, then gives out because they couldn't control it.

Zero movement from the front 5.

For the umpteenth time, I've seen Goodwin chatting with Samson (a GK coach) during the game, clearly bereft of ideas.

Bringing on Cal Roberts who hasn't played since August(?) to win us a game???

3 and a half minutes Darvel held that in the corner before we got it out and Stewart passed it straight to a Darvel player.

Roos challenge on Humphries looked a penalty. I thought Duk dived/was going down anyway in first half.

Think Duk was changing direction in an attempt to beat the player in front of him and get a shot away, when the player behind stuck out a leg which tripped him has he made the change of direction. Was earlier in the same move where Duk was hauled back by his shirt 2 handed, that never got called back for a yellow, at the next break in play?

TBF thought the hearts one was probably a pen too.

There was a similar challenge to Richardsons maybe Cochrane on Stewart that was given as a foul but no card (no consistency) and Barron seemed to be getting kicked all over the place with impunity, which likely lead to Grant feeling he could make that challenge.

  6. Only saw second half as chopped a branch off a tree which turned out to be the tree…

    Thankfully no neighbours killed 😎

Duc’s goal was a thing of beauty. Boys already a cult hero. Haven’t had one of them for a long time.

MalKKKy MacKKKAy’s tactic is clearly don’t concede, and use those bombs of long throws as additional set pieces.

Sore one but bet we won’t be the only ones to lose points in Dingwall this season.

Just because a result doesn't end in a draw doesn't mean the rule wouldn't have had  an effect on how the game was played.  Quite frankly I just think one goal being worth more than another is incredibly stupid. It kinda reminds me of arguing with fucking rugby fans after the Ghana Uruguay game where Gyan bottles the last minute penalty from the suarez handball.

    Ghana should be put through.

    No they shouldn't they lost.

    Suarez handled on the line

He was penalised and Ghana bottled the penalty.

It should just have been awarded as a goal.

........ You want to award a goal when you know the ball hasn't crossed the line? No wonder your favourite sport is so shit.

An away goal counting as double in the event of a draw is just as imaginary a goal.

I know that's not the rule, but I wouldn't be against that rule being altered. It's not a foul preventing a clear goal scoring opportunity and its not a hand ball that could have resulted in a goal scoring opportunity. Its a hand ball that has stopped a goal. In that situation if you took away the chance of the penalty being saved or missed, you stop that deliberate foul immediately.

  8. Thought Annan were well organised. Sat back, allowed us passive possession then as we tried to play that through ball, one tried to cut it out and another went to the man. There was one point when Miovoski, I think, thought, "fuck it" and tried that kids football thing of barging his way through a melee involving Vinnie and about 5 Annan players, hoping the ball would bounce off enough limbs he would come out the other side with it.

Game was crying out for some shots from range, us falling back encouraging them out before playing a ball over the top etc.

As tlg said pitch was tiny. Any team trying to play through 10 outfield players in the final 3rd on effectively a 9-a-side (OK maybe an U16's 11-a-side) pitch will struggle.

We need another central defender, preferably one that can play on the left. We're still a Scales injury away from having the exact same issue as last season in playing two right footers in defence.

Midfield wise, it needs to be Ronan or someone of that ilk, someone who is obviously improving the side.

Not to be negative, and obviously I'll wait until I see these guys play to make a proper judgement, but I'm not as excited by all these signings as everyone else.

Good (on paper): Miovski, Ramadani, Stewart, Scales. And all four have looked good so far, albeit v lower league teams.

    But...

We've signed two players (Richardson & Roberts) who were playing national league football last season.

Roos was a bit part player at Derby

Coulson was shipped out on loan twice last season (Ipswich & Peterborough) and struggled for game time at both.

    Duk (Benfica B)

We've got positions filled that we needed filled, and that's good, but I don't need to hear the next signing played 10 games last season at Cheltenham, or was a stand out in the South London pub league.

Because at the minute it's Gurr, Jenks, Longstaff and JET vibes.

Could do worse than Callum Wright (albeit +/- 38 games) 😉

  10. The fee's the huns claim they sell their players for, is a strange situation. This one is the oddest of the lot. Paterson and Aribo both buying clubs released "undisclosed" for the fee's. You can sort of understand a club like the huns, with a loose grip on financial reality, might claim higher fee's in order that it makes their other players appear more valuable. But, Ajax released the £19.3 million for Bassey...

Bassey has concentration issues. He might be strong and quick, but he makes a couple of mistakes per game, one of which invariably leads to an opposition goal scoring opportunity. I understand his speed and physicality mean he recovers from a lot of his mistakes but, and I might be wrong, I don't think you can coach concentration. Has to be a signing based on stats and the thought that as an English "homegrown" player he will be worth a lot to the EPL sides in a year or two.

  11. I always remember when apple did the iTunes festivals which were available on video on your apple phone/iPod. You could only get tickets with your apple device. Yet every show had folk with their phones out...

Went to see Neil Young at Hyde Park a few years ago, which Dylan was co-headlining. Spoke to a wifie in her 60's in the bar queue who said she'd seen him in the 60's/70's as a teen and he was horrendous and she'd walked out of the gig, and that a few of her of her group had seen him since and said the same, so they were leaving after Neil Young. We stayed, but left before he finished his set, along with more than 80% of the audience. I'd imagine the only ones left at the end were the group of Norwegian weirdo's we were sat drinking next to all afternoon. They had seen him over 50 times and followed him all round the world.

Would be better if the pin stripes were on the back too but I think there’s a wanky FIFA/UEFA rule to thank for that.

They’ll be the highest volume selling strips in years, when they’re eventually in stock.

That and the badge. Sell a version (no sponsor) on the originals, like Man Utd and bottynal have got, with (as you say) pinstripes on the back and just the Afc “ball in the goal” badge. I reckon it’d sell to more than just us lot.
