  1. There’s more to winning than an individual’s drive and character. Lennon won as a Celtic player because he was part of a good (expensively assembled) squad. He won as Celtic manager because he took charge of a good (expensively assembled) squad. If he’d ‘won’ at Hibs I’d have wholeheartedly agreed with your point - but he hasn’t. He’s assembled an average team, and his frustrations have now boiled over (as they were always going to).

  2. Absolute nonsense, you’re saying Lennon wants to win football matches more than McInnes? I want to win. We all want to win. How does that make Lennon any different?

  3. but he has passion and wants to win

But he doesn’t win. His team are 8th, while we could potentially go 2nd today....I’d rather have a likeable manager who puts a competitive team on the park than a comedy caricature who’s all talk and no trousers.

  4. Lennon hides behind sectarianism and mental health issues, uses them to excuse his own OTT behaviour. Remember him being touted on here as a potential Aberdeen manager, but things like this prove he should be nowhere near our club. Always controversial, always the victim, the man has very little class. Bizarrely I’ve warmed to him a little while he’s been at Hibs - quite like his beligerence in the face of the OF, but he’s got nothing on Derek McInnes....on or off the pitch.

  5. He offers more than just goals against weak teams though Seebass. His hold up play is generally ok, he’s disciplined and wins free kicks and he usually puts in a decent shift, and there’s plenty other players in the squad who know where the goals are - McGinn and GMS, Shinnie and Ferguson have both scored important goals, and right across the back 4 Logan, McKenna, Considine and Lowe can all score. You’re right with your final sentence though, I do expect him to score every game now, but I’m not going to over-analyse it if he doesn’t, as long as he’s contributing to a solid team performance.

  6. Tonight’s got ‘injuries’ written all over it, freezing temperatures and artificial surface  ::)

Expect us to bounce back from Saturday though. Similar to the Livi game, I imagine we’ll have to be patient and grind out a result.

  7. Honestly thought results like this were a thing of the past, totally unacceptable performance. All this Dubai shite maybe needs to be re-addressed, there’s a big difference between rest and recuperation, and what’s effectively a lads holiday in the sun. I know the club has a more professional approach these days but half our squad are billy big baws tinder addicts, who spend more time updating their Instagram than they do on the training ground.

Get back to fucking work lads, the next month is massive for the club.

  8. Saw McInnes on the news last night confirming that this story was garbage. Got me thinking that Shinnie has a real decision to make in terms of his international aspirations.  He is a regular now in the Scotland squad albeit he is a bit part player for them.  If he does end up somewhere in the bottom portion of the English championship with a Wigan-like team I reckon he could probably kiss goodbye to his international career but if he stays with us and is still in the spotlight then he could eventually end up with quite a number of caps.  Cash or caps???  ???

I think history’s proved that playing in the English lower leagues can only enhance your chances of a Scotland call-up.  :dunno:

  9. Any more views on how Campbell played?

Was a bit baffled when he was chosen to come on initially, and it was clear we were losing the battle quickly after his introduction - think that’s why we saw Gleeson brought on so soon afterwards. Wouldn’t want to judge Campbell when he’s being thrown into that environment, it was a pretty brutal encounter at that point.

  10. Well to be honest my post wasn’t directed exclusively at you either. I think it’s healthy for the powers that be to be questioned and challenged in the way you do, keep them on their toes, as you say it’s our club not theirs. But I also dislike knee-jerk reaction, over-reaction, and the negative outlook of many dons fans. At least you’re always willing to back your opinion with comprehensive theory and debate.

Kow’s been a fantastic contributor to this and other forums for many years, I respect his opinion (as I do yours) and I enjoy his wit and knowledge of the game, as well as his positive outlook.

It’s match day. See you all here later on for a good moan!  :-\

  11. As a fan who apparently falls into this ridiculous ‘happy clapper’ category, I’d love to be able to understand the negativity that seems to infect sections of our support. Why would someone even bother attending matches, reading about the day to day happenings at the club, offering comment on social media, when there’s nothing positive, appealing, or aspirational about it? What’s the point?

I wouldn’t criticise anyone for giving up, walking away, and saying “enough is enough”. We all have a breaking point and none of us are under any obligation to support the club. But when that point is reached, and you’ve got nothing left to offer apart from criticism and negativity, is it not maybe time to go and get another hobby?

Do I think we’ll win the league? No. Will I enjoy the ups and downs as the season unfolds, and remain hopeful that maybe, just maybe, this MIGHT be our year.....yes I will. That hope is what keeps real fans, of real clubs, captivated. That’s the difference between us, and the ‘old firm’ or Chelsea or Manchester City....

Real fans, supporting our club, hoping for a miracle. For me these are good times, I’m glad I didn’t chuck it when McGhee was dragging us through the gutter.

  12. I have to admit - and I haven't seen it back - it looked to me like Cosgrove moved his leg towards their player rather than the other way round. I was pretty close to it in the RDS, but Thompson is still the worst ref in the league - a total arrogant cunt.

We were ace in the second half tonight though, really enjoyable. From the kick off they just pressed the shite out of Livi, with some excellent play by McLennan, Cosgrove and May. Great to see May creating opportunities for himself with huge effort. He's not had many good chances (in front of goal) so getting himself in those positions is the first step. Thought Ferguson was poor until he scored, but he worked hard, as did Shinnie. Considine poor for the first goal, McKenna for the second, but the effort from the whole team (apart from Wright who was shite) made up for it in spades.

Finally, special mention to McInnes for getting it right tonight. That formation has to be what we play every time we play at home. There's no room for Ball at Pittodrie unless its as cover for Shinnie or Ferguson. We need to set up to win games at home. Even in the first half we created more opporunities than against St Johnstone, and that setup is absolutely vital to that. He also must have fairly battered them at half time, as we were relentless in the second half. More of the same in the next two games dandies.

Have a Simmie for your synopsis
