What does "proven SPL player" actually mean though?
He looked handy enough and I think he would do ok for us but I don't understand the idea of getting upset because Calderwood says he doesn't want to sign him.
Wouldn't say I'm upset about it like. Being upset would imply that I'm remotely surprised that we're turning down the chance of acquiring a decent player.
-
Haven't seen MUCH of him recently but he's a proven SPL player and was regular in the Wednesday line up. Jimmy was interested in him before and is one of the few players that we're being linked to that actually excites even if it's just a wee bit.
-
It says he moved to London for family reasons so can't see him being overly keen to join up with us.
-
JC quoted in paper today saying no interest in O'Brien.
Obviously. Why would we be interested in a good player who would like to play for us who's better than the pish we already have.
:hammer:

135. Milne ploughs millions into new training facilities and youth system.
-
Don't think McNamee is eveb on the radar anymore!
-
123. Aberdeen sign good player.

Nowhere does he actually give an indication of the timescale over which this £1m investment is spread. If reports earlier this year are to be believed, it's just over £1m over three years, which amounts to an extra £300k per year for transfer fees/wages. Not a huge amount in real terms.
You're right - there is a significant black hole somewhere. If that cash isn't being reinvested in the squad, we should be told what's being done with it, although my guess is that it's going towards servicing our debt.
Then our debt should be getting smaller! But every time I hear about it it's grown by a couple of mill.

Is that the training that restricts your ability to move towards a loose ball at times?
You restricted my ability to move towards a loose ball by smashing the ball off my nads.

I am.
Microsoft, Pepsi or Porsche could sponsor us but we'll still only get 5 minutes at the end of Sportscene(?) every Monday around midnight. Not sure how their world wide exposure would get us any more cash down Pittodrie St.
Surely companies bid to become the team sponsor and the highest bidder wins? A huge company wouldn't necessarily put in double what the next highest bidder put in, they'd just need to put in more. TR obviously offered the most and it's a "record deal".
Yet folk are still not happy.
I am.

Burton O'Brien has quit Sheffield Wednesday and apparently Falkirk are going after him.
Jimmy previously wanted Burton. Remember him being a very decent player.
Thoughts?

We weren't lucky to finish 4th we deserved it.
Hands up ANYONE who has said it was a massive achievement to finish 4th?
Hands up ANYONE who thought we had a really good season?
No-one? Thought so.
We had a decent season based on league position and 2 cup semis and Europe. In addition to that was some fucking shocking football. We could have had a great season had the board fronted up in January and before but alas no.
Spot on. Mirrors my own thoughts. We were so close to having a great season.

107. Dons win at Tannadice.
-
105. Dons sign player that isn't Dutch with no background at Dundee United or Dunfermline.
-
103. Dons hit top spot in the SPL

If another company were offering me better wages i would jump at it in a second, i think most of the people on here would always be looking for more money!
Yes but if you were going to be treated poorly at this other company you might think twice. It's not just about money. It's about how valued you feel and how you fit into the job.

99. Dons kill opposition off early on.

94: Calderwood Admits: "I Got It Wrong"
Like he did when we were beaten 5-0 at the Hunnery?

DAN!!!

I've a feeling that we might actually pull in someone big this year. No idea why I think that.
I think I would have shared that optimism if we'd managed to get into next season's UEFA Cup.
-
Sounds good, but why not East Stirlingshire as well?
I wouldn't be surprised if they actually got Rangers to come down seeing as they were his boyhood heroes and he played for them. But then again, I suppose Rangers won't ever be welcome in Manchester again.
Fergie hates Rangers now.

83. Aberdeen put together run of a few consistant performances.

I think Higdon is pish! Would rather have Foran tbh.
Not if Foran wants £6k a week!

Midfield.
That was a tough one.
Althought being a left footed player he can also be used on the left.
