Aberdeen hope to complete the signing of former Scotland midfielder Barry Robson on Monday.

 

The 34-year-old ended the season with Sheffield United after almost a year in Canada with Vancouver Whitecaps.

Robson had hoped to sign on at his hometown team in January, but budget constraints prevented former manager Craig Brown completing a deal.

Now new boss Derek McInnes aims to add Robson to his midfield having made Willo Flood his first summer signing.

Flood, who left Dundee United at the end of his contract, and Robson would be teaming up for the fourth time in their careers having been together at Tannadice, Celtic and Middlesbrough.

Inverurie-born Robson, who began his career with Inverness Caledonian Thistle, made 18 appearances for Sheffield United after joining the Blades in February.

However, he was unable to prevent them missing out on promotion from League One after a play-off semi-final defeat by Yeovil during which Robson went off injured before half-time in the first leg and did not appear in the second.

As unaffordable as a larger league is, there is soon going to come a point where they have to make it affordable. its funny, i'm just watching the tv program on Rangers and the presenter has said that they may have to play in the 3rd division if, and i quote, "the SPL clubs decide to vote them out"

RANGERS boss Ally McCoist today rubbished Sone Aluko’s claims that he paid for his own transfer to Ibrox.

Former Aberdeen FC winger Aluko was quoted saying he had forked out almost £200,000 of his own money to get the deal done. The player’s adviser was also quoted as saying Rangers had not parted with any money towards the deal.

McCoist said: “There has been a little bit of misrepresentation of the story in the press.”

He showed potential. A few good touches, comfortable running at defenders with the ball. Got into the box and tried a little flick to get passed a defender but fell over.
