  1. Sunday Times are also reporting it.

Not sure Real fans have ever taken to him, seemingly on account of his nationality.  I do think they seem to prefer Spanish managers, which is why Benitez will be linked as he has a very good record in Spain.

To be fair, a couple of very good seasons at Valencia aside, his record in Spain is pretty hit and miss.

  2. Just watched Ghana v Botswana and it was pretty dreadful stuff, especially the first half.

Senegal v Zambia on Sat was a bit more interesting, Zambia deservedly beating a side who looked very strong on paper, if a bit imbalanced.

  3. Would be a big three points if we can pull off a result here. Obviously our record down there is worse than terrible and all that, but the return of Pawlett and hopefully Chalali could give us a bit more creativity. They've only lost twice in the last eleven and are unbeaten in four, but the last team to beat them outside the OF was us.

Here's hoping 2012 is a bit less shite.

    In/Oot: In

    Pre match: Driving doon

    Match: Shed

    Post match: Driving back

    Prediction: 1-1

    Attendance: 8k

  4. From the comments on Facebook and what I heard on the radio, it sounded like we actually played ok in spells. This not the case then? Apart from failing to score obviously, at least it was a clean sheet and we ended the game with 11 men ;)

Yeah, we played about as well as we could have hoped to under the conditions. We were certainly the better team and had better chances, but nothing clear cut enough to say we fully deserved the win. Incredibly windy though, and that in terms of creativity we were essentially reduced to Arnason's long throws by the end is no great surprise.

Good performances from Osbourne, Foster, Considine and Jack, while I think Arnason grew into the match. Milsom got a deserved sponsors man of the match; he was playing centrally as part of a midfield three and shows what we're missing by shunting him out wide for so long this season.

Front three of Vernon, Fallon and Mackie were hugely unthreatening however. The latter two are just far too immobile to play together and Mackie was...Mackie. Going to have to be changed about for the Utd game. I dare say both Vernon and Fallon would fare better if we were getting good service and regular crosses from out wide, but this would require some actual wingers and full-backs.

  5. Just wan't to point out I'm not having a go at the players here but does anyone else not think that we are a wasted force going forward playing Fraser Fyvie on the right mid/wing. Does not help the players confidence either in my mind.

If anywhere he needs to be attacking behind the front 2, especially at home as we should be attacking and trying to win all games at Pittodrie and to play someone who can't run past a full back on the wing is just a waste of a position and plays into the oppositions hand.

Peter Pawlett is the player for that position but needs regular games games to show what he can do and prove the potential he has is not another wasted talent , not coming on as a sub with 15mins to go.  Pawlett and Jack down the right would work  :-\

Been thinking this for a long time now and cannot believe Craig Brown persists with these tactics as they obviously do not work.

I think Brown tried to address this on Saturday as we lined up in a sort-of 4-3-3 with Fyvie and Milsom playing far narrower and Chalali linking between defence and midfield. Obviously this was ditched when Chalali had to go off but it suggests he at least recognises this problem.

  6. The commentators during the Man Utd game were fucking embarrassing too. Fucking wanking over Man Utd when they were clearly playing shit. Man Utd had 2 more shots off target so Man Utd were "dominating the stats" (whilst 1-0 down). Fucking joke.

Clive Tyldesley doesn't even attempt to hide his support any more. His embittered rantings made the result even more amusing.

  7. Fell out with the chairman regarding their plans did he not? Although, again, that was all conjecture.

Apparently threw the toys oot when he was asked to trim the wage budget, which was at something like 80-85% of turnover.
