Rangers: McCoist calls for SPL to drop investigation

Manager Ally McCoist is calling for the Scottish Premier League to scrap an investigation into alleged undisclosed payments to players at Rangers.

An independent SPL hearing looking into Rangers' use of an Employee Benefit Trust (EBT) scheme is due to start in the new year.

"I would be extremely hopeful that common sense would prevail and the SPL could now drop it," said McCoist."It's not over yet but I hope that sad chapter will now begin to close."

  2. It is fucking brutal. He looks every inch the sexual predator and one wi the keys to the sweetie shop at that, fucking hell.

But he wasn'tabusing little kids!! He may have been grooming some of them but the allegations have all been of slightly under age girls! Thats still wrong, but he wasn't raping the 6 year olds in that picture!

Besides he's not even the weirdest looking in that picture!

  3. Just read this on BBC breaking sports news.

Peter Herbert from the Society of Black Lawyers tells BBC Radio 5 live why he reported the Mark Clattenburg case to the Metropolitan police:

"I'm not really a football fan so I didn't see the game. I saw the rolling news and it became clear there had been an incident. We waited until the next day and it was widely reported in the media who gave details. I consulted with my colleagues in the organisation and we decided to formally report the matter to the Metropolitan Police.

"The purpose of that was to make sure it had been recorded as a racial incident. That doesn't prejudge it but it has the appearance of a racial incident and anyone can report it as such."

Really? That seems a bit off to me.

Call me Old Fashioned but is that not a bit Ironic? A group purely for black people claiming someone is racist?

  4. Hmm, the definition of "causing" in that quote is extremely dubious in the respect that the crush obviously led to the disaster, but wasn't the only ingredient in the mix.  There's little doubt that letting them in resulted in a crush, but that crush wasn't subsequently attenuated as a result of the anti-invasion perimeter fencing which in turn led to people dying, and therefore the bigger disaster.  That's to say without the crush there wouldn't have been a disaster, but the crush alone didn't actually cause the disaster, ergo the police didn't directly cause the disaster.  They were certainly negligent and perhaps reckless, but in light of the measures and cultural conditions of the day, they weren't solely to blame.

Route Cause? I guess there are many.

The Police were ordered to open the gate, why? What effect did that have?

    The Fences were there, why?

The Police assumed it was Violence by Hooligans, why?

The Police tried to Cover it up, Why?

We have more answers now which is a good thing, if there are more to be asked and more to be learned then lets keep asking the questions.

My Only gripe is that it turns into a witch-hunt and a black-and-white 'it was YOUR fault' quest!

Yes someone should be held accountable for the mistakes made, and the subsequent cover up but to have someone solely responsible for those deaths can't happen!

  5. BBC Website:

Hearts have rebuffed offers from Rangers for winger David Templeton and full-back Ryan McGowan.BBC Scotland has learned the combined offer made by Rangers combined was less than £1m and falls short of Hearts' valuations of the players. Will Rangers come back in with an improved offer before tonight's deadline?

Where the fuck are they getting a million from?

  6. Struggling with this one. Currently living in the 'other' Perth so My choices seem to be (bear in mind a wife and 2 kids). Camper Van seeing the sites in WA (sand I think), Bali, Thailand or back hame?

My plan is to save hame for a cup Final! But apparently seeing family and pals comes afore a final (beats me, and my auld man agree's).

    Ony suggestions?

  7. Furthermore an SPL2 if suddenly formed from no where surely means existing prize and TV money will be stretched between 22 clubs instead of 12 thus costing us money.

Same thing happens if Sevco go into SFL1 BTW. Its not been discussed but part of the deal is that SPL Prize money will be handed to SFL1 as part of Rangers 'TV Rights' Meaning SPL clubs will effectively be Paying Rangers to play in SFL1!

    Stitch up from day 1

  8. Cockwomble..

Doncaster said three options were available regarding where Rangers should play next season.

"The three viable options are effectively: bringing "newco" Rangers back into the SPL with a range of appropriate sanctions; putting Rangers into the second tier of Scottish football or Rangers going into the bottom of the pyramid into Division Three," he added.

"The third option, I was keen to stress yesterday, would inflict massive damage on the whole of the game in Scotland; and effectively punish 41 innocent clubs for the misdeeds of one."

The SPL can only vote on option 1 FFS!

And He's still propagating the financial melt down!

    Fuck him!

  9. the spl 2 question seems a bit dodgy. suggests large support for the newco  into spl 2 option, but that is a very vague option, with unknown consequences in terms of who that means newco are parachuted in above. and it is also close to the same number of people who said they don't want newco in the sfl at all.

but i bet that 95% figure gets used by certain people in future!

This! It certainly looks like one of those loaded questions that will get dragged out! '95% of fans want an SPL 2 with Rangers included'

  10. I see Murray no 3 (I think) has read out an 'apology' on behalf of the rangers! Apologising for what I'm not sure, but clearly not for 20 years of cheating. Looks like  they seem to think a half arsed apology for going into administration is what we want!

Murray's statement continued: "On behalf of the new board of directors, I apologise unreservedly to all for the distress, disruption and difficulty inflicted on the football community, caused entirely by the actions of people who failed miserably to act responsibly during their stewardship of Rangers.

"All of Scottish football is now having to live with the consequences of that behaviour and every true Rangers fan will consider it a matter of deep regret that events at our club in the past have been the root cause of an extremely difficult time for Scottish football.

"The people who are now running Rangers Football Club want the club to move forward but we cannot do so until we have recognised how damaging to football the crisis at our club has been.

"We want to rebuild Rangers but we also want to ensure the club plays a role that is beneficial to Scottish football, the Scottish economy and Scottish life in general."

  11. I was listening to the BBC podcast thing today. One statement was that the clubs reckon they CAN survive without SKY but not this year!

Now, does the SPL not have a contract with Sky? Surely to the ends of fuck the SPL haven't allowed a contract that Sky can just decide to tear up? Surely Sky wouldn't just tear it up for fear of Tims and the rest of scottish football turning off!

So I think my point is this... If the sky deal is to 'go away' it won't be within a year! The only worry for SPL clubs is the lack of 3 or 4 Old Farm Games next season???

  12. Absolutely. As I said above, the taking on of the debt of the oldco makes it a non-starter. Why would anyone at the helm of a newco agree to take on potentially +£90m worth of debt just so they're in the Scottish First Division? It's not going to happen even if the clubs all voted for it, which they won't.

Is it not just the 'football Debt', i.e bills to other clubs? Plus Fines etc?

Edit: Not that that makes it anymore likely to happen!

  13. alex thomson alex thomson ?@alextomo

My source: "Definite asset sale. Very confident. Sevco Scot bt Ibrox for £500k and have a deal agreed in principle to sell for about £8m"

Surely this can't happen? 500K? That cant be in the best interests of the creditors?

Or is it a clever scam to get Ibrox as far away from Rangers (Diseased) as possible making it harder for the tax man et all to get their money's worth?
