  1. At your young age,  I'd travel and see as much of the world and different cultures as you possibly can, before making any decisions about where to settle.

We moved to the US, 5 years ago at the grand old ages of 44 and 43, for a very specific reason  ( and it wasn't to avoid conscription or the plod).  We live in Alaska, and love it, have lived in a couple of other States and have definite preference for the northern half of the country.  Can't abide being south of the Mason Dixon line.

With all that being said, we're retired, don't have to work and my wife flies home 3 times a year to visit her family.

I might try to make it back if we make a final  :o ,  but our plan has always been to return to Scotland to live.

One thing I'd say about getting into the US (and Canada) is it's a lot harder (and more expensive) to get a visa to live here than you might think.

Agree re the visa side of things and have always wanted to spend time in Alaska. But absolutely love living in California (NYC was exciting etc but got to be draining after a while).

  2. Surely living anywhere is what you make it tho - the weather doesn't bother me in the slightest - I don't spend endless days watching the telly or playing on an xbox and having a bbq in the rain just adds to the fun

Friends and family are exactly why I love living in Scotland

I love going on holiday but I love coming home again too

Each to their own I suppose

Absolutely agree - life is what you make of it!

  3. Just do it.

It's not always easy and not particularly glamorous but - in my experience at least - the benefits far outweigh the negatives. I moved to Greece straight after Uni, (Zakynthos and then Thessaloniki), then moved to NYC, back over to London, then to Santa Monica and this last week moved to another place in California near Palm Springs. Each place has it's own challenges and benefits but life is really what you make of it.

If it doesn't work out then you can always try somewhere else, and failing that you can move home!

The only things I miss are friends and family - don't miss the shitty weather, sitting in the same seats in the same bars regurgitating the same old shit patter. And, when it works, you can use RedTV to watch the Dandies play. Magic.

  4. Ayr United chairman makes the good point of why did Moffat get a 6 game ban for betting on his team to win when Ian Black just got three for betting on his team to lose? Not something I can comprehend myself

    Because he's a Hun?

  5.

Poor fishing, min. It was a clear foul and one we'd all be screaming for if it was Pawlett that was in the same situation (despite his reputation)

Didn't say it wasn't a foul, just that he was over-dramatic which probably counted against him....

  6. Speaking of a disgrace.. Mourinho's attempt at deflecting from his side's indifferent form by accusing Suarez of diving when everyone can clearly see he didn't is nothing short of an embarrassment. That was never a dive in a million years and Mourinho should be punished for a blatant attempt at tarnishing a player's reputation. He knows stupid cunts listen to him. Suarez has stayed on his feet in recent times and should have earned his team at least one penalty yesterday. Boils my piss that Rodgers is looking at a fine for correctly stating that officials were shite in the Man City match but a slanderous lie about a professional player is ok because Jose is the "special one". That prick really went down in my estimation yesterday. Cunt.

He did go down like he was shot like.... The positive thing though was at least it reminded me that Suarez was playing  ;D:wave:

  7. I also wonder if it's going to be the old enemies USA v Russia that kick it all off, Russia having Chinese and Asian support, the US sucking in NATO.

I think this is a possibility. The weakness Obama has shown has opened the floodgates... He can't even get the British to go along now...
