  1. Not a big fan of politics in fitba but at least this is prior to kick off: https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/fp/sport/football/aberdeen-fc/donsnews/derek-mcinnes-says-aberdeen-would-have-taken-the-knee-for-black-lives-matter-ahead-of-rangers-game-with-or-without-official-backing/

If it was like in England when it was after the KO in some cases then I seriously wouldn't put it past the Huns to run up the park and put one in the net while we took the knee....

  2. I'm surprised honestly that I haven't heard more about him this year amongst the support - and that may in effect answer the question in the poll. However, I'm curious what everyone thinks - are we missing him or has his loss been minimal?

  3. Personally I see it more like the end of a long term relationship. You had some good times but now you suspect she’s cheating on you with your worst enemy. But you can’t actually bring yourself to believe it. I mean, she telt you she loves you and you were the one for her. Eventually realization sets in and ye hate the hoor....

Plenty more fish in the sea!

  4. I've enjoyed the games so far. I've realised after thoroughly enjoyed London 2012 too that I enjoy the Olympics more than the Euros or the World Cup. Never thought I'd see the day tbh be honest!

Annemiek van Vleuten sustained some serious spinal injuries and a concussion but tweeted a photo of her sitting up smiling allbeit with a hell of a shiner. It sounds like she'll make a full recovery. The crash was brutal. I was watching it live and was obviously chuffed that a Dutch woman was leading. Then crashed out and a minute or two later when the American woman who was second (can't remember her name) went past and van Vleuten hadn't moved. Looked absolutely awful.

Anyone know why the diving pool turned green? ???

    Algae

  5. Question. Over here, they only really show on TV events that Australians are taking part in.

Is It like that back home with the British athletes? When I lived back home, I never remembered that happening.  :dunno:

It has really put me off the Olympics.  :-\

That's how it is in the US as well with the exception of the Tennis (we are getting Sir Andrew but only because the US have no decent Tennis players). And even though the events are going on live, we are getting them on a time delay with a bunch of adverts.

  6. I personally thought Jack was quietly very effective. I think most of us agree he's not Captain material (at least not yet) but to Bobby's point about Considine and Taylor struggling with Magennis, I thought Jack really helped protect them.

Also agree that Shinnie and Logan are immense and Robson played well.

  7. I didn't think storie started well but my god he fairly grew in stature as the game went on. Barring almost having a nosebleed when he found himself on the edge of their box I thought he was excellent once he got into the game.

I hadn't realised just how badly Celtic have been at rescuing games or getting anything when faced with a bit of adversity, which is a hell of a bonus for us.

I also didn't realise that in the last 11 games (since our last league loss) we are apparently 4 points better off than Celtic, keep that up and the league is ours... Need to keep the focus but it's definitely achievable.

Excellent post. Totally agree that Storie appeared nervous to start but came onto a hell of a game. He and Shinnie were immense, McLean and Logan were effective as were Reynolds and Taylor.

  8. Yaaasss, Rooney with a penalty, least we deserved from that game. As it wore on I thought we'd fuck it up, get a player sent off a them nick an underserved goal. Luckily none of that happened  ;D

Here's now to hoping St Johnstone can do us a favour to fuck the dhims up even more

Hayes was definitely deserved man of the match. McLean and Flood both played very well too. Logan's last ditch tackle is something I will miss when he goes. If there is a player who'd i don't worry about making a tackle like that it's him.

Agree with all of that except the part on McLean. He definitely got better as the game went on but still don't think he's playing anywhere near potential.

  9. Why would rain necessarily have helped us? Can the Aussies not play if it rains? ???

No, it's because the rain made us look like the All-Blacks and the Australians were sh*tting themselves.

  10. Well county definitely deserve this, but we have been awful. First time we've lost four on the bounce since 2011.... Not fucking happy. Not happy at all.

What.the fuck has happened to.this team? No desire, awareness or passion.

I'm not sure it's a desire or passion thing - they appeared to be trying their hearts out. Seems it's just a confidence thing illustrated by the woefulness in front of goal but they need to sort it out soon because a few more defeats in the next few matches and the league is over before Christmas.

  11. Latest estimates have the amount of guns in the US at over 310 million. Yes you read that correctly, 310 MILLION.

And therein lies the problem, they will NEVER get rid of all guns and buy-back schemes etc are fine but the reality is the 'bad guys' are unlikely to willingly hand them in as well as a significant amount of the population that believe strongly in the 2nd amendment. Remember, this was written to provide security against government tyranny so any move by the government to remove that will be portrayed as the government trying to silence the masses (while clearly this application  has changed greatly in the past several hundred years).

As MBT mentioned, there are a LOT of people dying in places like Chicago - I think I read somewhere that the weekend before the Oregon shootings there were 49 shootings in Chicago with over 20+ deaths. And Chicago has some of the strictest gun laws in the US.

Really the short of it is that they need to start properly enforcing the gun laws that exist and then try to find a way to get as many guns off the street as possible.

Frankly, I'm quite amazed that there aren't MORE shootings given that there are almost as many guns as there are people in this country. And all the comparisons to the UK and AUS etc are fine but, using the worlds most trustworthy source Wikipedia, there are 6.6 guns per 100 persons in the UK, 15 per 100 persons in AUS and 112 per 100 persons in the US so to compare 'advanced countries' is a fairly simplistic view of it.

  12. Yesterday we started with Hayes playing cm. It's all very well having versatile players and utilising them as such but playing an winger in cm when it would be far more effective to play MacLean alongside Jack and Hayes in his natural position makes no sense to me.

Agree with that, didn't make sense to me either..  ??? ??? ???

  13. Sky had some of the preseason games on red zone on Saturday night and are showing next weeks Houston v New Orleans preseason game.

Looking forward to the season starting for real although it looks like 9ers are going to win the 1st draft pick prize this year.

Heading over in November to see 9ers play the Cardinals at Levi. First visit to the new stadium so looking forward to it.

Enjoy your trip to the Stadium of Jeans!

  14. Last week Red tv stopped working for me on chrome (android tablet), as did bbc, bbc works using their app and I use dolphin to open Redtv, bit of a pain.

Dont know if there is a red tv app?

I did look a couple of weeks ago but didn't find one. Works for me on iPhone Safari though. Maybe try native Android browser?

  15. So I have international red tv, games stream perfectly but when watching highlights/goals it stops, starts, freezes etc? Customer service is useless and I'm special ed, any suggestions??

    Which browser are you using?

I'm just east of Los Angeles so its likely we are close by judging by your username; no problems on this end...

  16. Got the Motherwell 6-5 classic game on now

    https://redtv.afc.co.uk/archive/433

    Thanks manc.

I don't want to jinx anything but we are a few games into the season and RedTV has been absolutely excellent so far. I've watched games on a plane, in an airport, in a car all through my phone or tablet - which you just couldn't do with the old system. In addition the quality has been excellent and having our own commentary team has ben great.

The website is still a bit confusing and a PITA to log into, but that aside a really major improvement. Well Done AFC!

  17. I’m one of the few that hasn’t had to much of a problem with him, he’s caused me to kick walls and punch floodlight stanchions a few times mind, He’s also saved us on many occasions and we’ve had many far far worse keepers, Good luck to him in the future, His time with us was up but I hope he does well at St Mirren

The young lad Ward looks decent enough but it’s only a loan unfortunately, Brown isn’t any better or worse than clangers imo, so hopefully the young lad Rogers is the business, although with him only getting a one year deal and then being sent out on loan again, it could bite us in the arse if he attracts attention, we could be looking for three new keepers at the end of the season, Taht lad at Dundee looks decent

    This

    x 2

Best of luck to you Jamie. He may not have been our best ever goalkeeper (given we've had some great ones) but he always tried his best IMO and wish him well for the future.
