  1. You know that Women's University Soccer Program from Southern New Hampshire that I've been watching since late 2019?  I got Dante being an ex-college player himself and 2021 Hermann Trophy winner to send my girls a nice message.

He did the below video from Helsinki a few weeks back.  What I wasn't expecting is the connection he had to one of the universities our team thumped

    4-1 in 2023 season.

Was well worth the £6 Cameo charged me!

  2. So I was talking with Mirabelle Maslin last night who is the lady from Augur Press that published 'Hemiplegic Utopia' for me fifteen years ago.

She was saying one is looking to retire aged 76 due to a lot of ill health.  This means my book will only be available second hand whether in a shop or online.

Her children don't want to take her legacy on apparently.

For those that don't know there is a chapter and a half about my time as an Aberdeen fan in the collection of short stories.

So guys can we share this news far and wide please and get Mirablle and myself some more sales before this amazing woman calls it a day?

    Cheers.

    Lee.

  3. I know we've still to play Eintracht Frankfurt but do people think the European Group Stage adventure has been something you'll look back on in years to come and remember with great fondness?

I was saying to my brother Paul in Australia whose also a Dons fans but probably not as big as me that when Eintracht Frankfurt and PAOK Salonika were paired together it was the only Group I wanted to be a part of as long as we got somebody cool in Pot 4 which I think in HJK Helsinki we did.

I didn't make an effort for the Play-Off home leg against BK Hacken.  I hate repetition.  We'd only had them two years previous.

That's why I didn't go to second Pittodrie game against HNK Rijeka in 2019.  Just as well in hindsight given we were 1-0 down and a man sent off inside first twenty minutes.

I think we can all agree the team somewhat surprised us with their level of performance in Germany losing very narrowly.

I would have liked to have been at Pittodrie when HJK Helsinki came to town.  I have followed from a distance the Riski brothers who have played for them for years albeit neither played that evening.  Would have been nice to take in my 20th Aberdeen European fixture with a 1-1 draw like we earned.

In many respects given how PAOK Salonika match ended I'm quite glad I wasn't there to witness such a cruel loss in the flesh.  I was feeling quite depressed at the time and that horrible conclusion could have tipped me over the edge especially being so far from home.

Very proud of the players for how they've managed to secure two comeback 2-2 draws in Salonika and Helsinki.

A week Thursday will be what it is.  Quite pleased I'm not making the trip up given they'll be no away support and fact game is like a glorified friendly with nothing at stake.

    But what are your thoughts?

  4. Despite this being on what feels like a loop it also probably does change the track listing every few days although can't be sure for definite.

HOWEVER I must admit WE CAN'T SWITCH THIS OFF AT TIMES!!

Seems to be chilling me out like one needs.

This discovery is what YouTube should be used for.

  5. Our two games against PAOK reminded me of Dundee United drawing 2-2 with Manchester United at Old Trafford and losing 3-2 at Tannadice in Europe.

I think I'm right in saying that.

Be nice just to finish off with at least a draw in Helsinki as Eintracht Frankfurt at Pittodrie will now be a dead rubber because they're through to knockout stages and we'll rest most of the first XI for the Cup Final three days later correct?

  6. Funny story about the Greenock Morton 2016 Semi-Final.  My friend Steph worked in a betting shop at the time and always remember me saying to her:

"I fancy winning a grand this weekend!"

She asked what I was on about so I replied:

"Don't know why but I fancy £100 on Kenny McLean First Scorer at (10/1) in the Cup Semi we're only playing Greenock Morton."

Steph thought this was a stupid idea but came up with an alternative.

"Why don't you just do £50 First (10/1) and £50 Last Goal (10/1)?"

At the time I didn't realise players were the same for first or last goal but went ahead with £100 Kenny McLean First Goal (10/1).

    Steph then goes:

"I thought you were an Adam Rooney man anyway because you share the same birthday as him.  Why aren't you thinking of sticking £100 on him at (7/2) I mean you could even do him £50 First Goal and £50 Kenny McLean Last Goal sort of cover your silly thoughts about McLean."

I had no answer for her.  She's a really funny and intelligent lass who I adore.

Well what happened in the match Rooney scored the first and McLean the second!

Went in on the Monday after the game and we both looked at each other and bursting out laughing Steph says:

"What did I tell you last Friday?  But you didn't listen!"

  7. Went to collect my winnings on Bojan Miovski scoring first goal yesterday and guy behind counter said slip was a loser!  Those at betting shop had settled it as Martin Boyle opening scorer!  Had to wait a couple of hours to get my £29.50 profit as Head Office looked into it!

  8. I believe we collected 166,000 euros for the point gained which is something like £143,000 pounds sterling.

I know we got £2.5 million or near about for just being in Group stage but is £140K really going to help the club coffers and if so could that amount be something that covers the plane journey cost to Frankfurt?

  9. This is a Dutch singer who used to be called Caro Emerald and disappeared for a couple of years apparently to reinvent herself as 'The Jordan'.

I saw her on a BBC Four Live Sessions programme for first time ever just last week as Caro Emerald and went looking for her material only to find she was now called 'The Jordan' and had released a debut solo album which is pretty damn good.

Above tune is the one track I'm liking the most at the minute from said collection.

  10. I'M BACK AFTER NEARLY TWO WEEKS OF TRYING TO RECOVER MY PASSWORD ON THIS FORUM JUST TO SAY....

I won £504 on us today!!!!

Had my usual £9 on Bojan Miovski First Scorer (5/1) which is nothing new since he joined the club.  £9 (9/1) Bojan Miovski Two Or More Goals In The Game and £10 Aberdeen to beat Ross County 4-0 (40/1).

Did £11 Duk Last Goal (6/1) and £11 Duk Two Or More Goals In The Game (12/1) to see if we could get the correct scoreline up but I'm not arsed this return has paid for my bets for next few weeks now.

I actually collected £909.27 on a Europa League Both Teams To Score and a Europa League 2.5 Goals And Overs coupon Thursday night which is why I donated a further £1K to Margaret Kerr Unit in memory of my Mam Friday morning to take my continuing donation to them to £9,453.

  11. Don't know if I've ever said but my high school friend Gareth Henderby has been involved in the Right To Dream Academy in Ghana for well over 20 years.  He is now their Technical Director for Denmark and Egypt if memory is serving me correctly.

    He sent me the below message when we were 2-0 down last night;

"SeeBass, one of our own is absolutely killing you guys.  I'm sorry."

He was talking about Ibrahim Sadiq.

Also gave me a bit of background on the boy who has just left Ajax to go to West Ham United Mohammed Kudus.  He apparently brought him through the Right To Dream Academy from the age of 12.

Why aren't we tapping into this African market???

  12. Regardless of which competition we're in come Friday morning looking at the teams already qualified or looking likely to do so this is my dream group stage opponents if ranking wasn't an issue.

For a bit of fun who would yours be and why???  If I was to get both the first and last teams I've mentioned we'd laugh my head off!

I think we should all put something down and see how close we get.  I once predicted all three opponents Celtic got in Champions League 2006-07.    My friend asked if we'd had access to the balls!!!

EUROPA LEAGUE: KI Klaksvik (Faroe Islands) If they can see off the Moldovan outfit Sheriff Tiraspol would love to be one of their first ever European group stage opponents.

Backa Topola (Serbia) Only because they had a home game during Covid-19 of one single tie rather than the traditional two against Steaua Bucharest that finished 6-6!!

Olympiakos (Greece) They've always been a side I've wanted to have on our continental CV.

CONFERENCE LEAGUE: Ferencvaros (Hungary) Hungarian success in 1950's and 1960's has forever intrigued me and to have a stellar name like them as part of the club's tapestry would be fine by me.

Ballkani (Kosovo)  Don't know why but I'd really love to see where our game is at with a team from this sort of country.  They seem to be improving ten fold.  Mind I'm sure the waves they made in last year's competition has financially helped Ballkani become stronger.

Maccabi Tel Aviv (Israel) No word of a lie I've been saying to my brother Paul for donkey's years if we ever drew the Israeli side in any sort of European match we both must try and go to the away leg.  For centuries I've kept embarrassing him with the line to a taxi driver:

    "Ma Cabbi?  Tel Aviv please!"
